  • The H-Bahn ("Hängebahn", or "hanging railway") in Dortmund and Düsseldorf is a suspended, driverless passenger suspension railway system. The system was developed by Siemens, who call the project SIPEM (SIemens PEople Mover).

Germany is such a good country with advanced infrastructure’s technology. My country should follow this concept.

Good height of the track lets more sunlight on to the street avoiding dark shadows. space saving of suspended monorails is the name of the game here. as trams on the ground do add to traffic congestion. however is it technically possible? to add a small footprint 3-person telescoping transfer elevator pod, suspended from the hanging railway tram, so no big bulky platforms are needed, at street level, at every tram stop. the trade-off would be more tram mass, with lass passengers, as any telescoping elevator passenger transfer pod, would need compact on board counterweight systems maglev mototrs would be quiter.- It was just a thought. so beam me up scotty , because scotty maybe a future suspended maglev H-bahn driver. :-)

Great video! I visited the system on a Sunday last year and as I suspected it was not operating that day. Too bad because I really wanted to ride it!

There is a similar monorail being built in the Krasnogorsk district of Moscow. It should be interesting to see it when its finished and running!

i am sure this can be now rebuilt in a even much quieter way. but i see this as big part of future mobility and logistics. we gotta give back some of the land we occupy and seal, give back to other life aswell :)

Quite noisy actually, was expecting it to be quiter. I dont live that far and never got to ride it to this day :/ They wanted to expand the line about 1.6km to the next subway station but never got really further with the plans. ''Overcrowded articulated buses are cheaper blahblahblah''. Anyways, Good video like always :)

They should expand it otherwise its kind of a novelty for the city (more useful for the students of the university) - Its actually quiet inside.

I definitely agree. I studied there and it worked most of the time. No conflicts with other traffic.

It's quiter in some parts of the video, is not nearly as loud as a heavy rail tho.

I use to wonder why bullet trains and street cars were so expensive but after seeing these monorail I now understand. If this train was at ground level it would be a disaster. You would have a clear a path through all that terrian as compared to the skinny monorail.

Why are the ones in Asian countries much quieter? This one sounds a lot like a poorly maintained train track.

The sound has nothing to do with bad maintenance

Well, that suspension railway is from 1984.
Show me a quiet suspension railway from 1984 in Asian countries.
