Project Level:
While this project uses the same pattern for 13 squares, the assembly and sewing can get a little complicated. I do go over every single little thing, so hopefully this tutorial will be helpful!
Stitches:
Magic Circle (mc)
Chain (ch)
Double Crochet (dc)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Puff Stitch (puff or ps)
Double Crochet 4 Together (dc4tog)
Slip Knot (sk)
Dimensions:
Granny Square - 9 cm/3.5" square
Bag - 27 cm/10.5" long x 27 cm/10.5" wide
Strap - 40 cm/16" long x 1 cm/0.5" wide
Tips:
- Carry the loose ends in your stitches so you have less to sew in
- Tighten your slip stitches to make the seam smaller and less visible
- The chain 2 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a double crochet
- Pull your loose ends to the inside of the tote and weave them in (or leave them hanging!)
Send me a picture of your finished tote on Instagram @viv.crochets! I’d love to see it!
Thanks for watching!

girllll if u don't make so many random skips during the assembly portion it would be so much easier to understand 😭u could be slip sticking for 5 seconds and make a skip and then I get confused nowhere I was at. especially hard when you turn the project from back to front.
Honestly..
Facts I was so confused I started doing my own thing sigh
I never thought about cutting up mandala yarn! That's BRILLIANT 🤯
I cannot thank you enough for this tutorial. I knew how to do the sunburst square but your bag construction and how thoroughly and clear your explained it was amazing. I hate seaming and so often these videos are like, '..and just seam it together!' 😒 THANK YOU for taking the time to walk us step by step - I am nearly done and I can't believe I did it.
this is the first time my squares came out looking like squares! 😭 super easy to follow through!! 💕
I absolutely love this tutorial tysm! I'm struggling with the assembly portion rn so this is gonna be a wip for a bit, but I love the slip stitch joining method that you showed! Like you said, it adds the perfect texture.
This is adorable! ❤️❤️ Your videos got me back into the world of crochet and I'm eternally grateful. Thank you!
That’s wonderful!
This help me so much omg, I finally found a pattern that I can perfectly do. I am good at making circles but not squares. Thank you so much for this.
I find these videos so satisfying to watch! You do a great job at explain and showing each step!
I made one and I'm working on my second. This is so thorough and SOOO appreciated. Loyally subscribed!
You have a really good tutorial. Thank you for all the detail and clarity you put into it. I'm working on this project this week.
Thanks for explaining about the stitches of varying heights when you make the square round.
Yes I have been so scared to try the granny square but this tutorial is *chefs kiss*
This was my first time trying a granny square and I actually did it !! Your so detailed thank you !!
i think this is the most thorough crochet tutorial i have ever seen :0 the bag is sooo cute!!

Glad to see you posting again! Thank you for the clear instructions 💕💕
Thank you! Feels good to finally get another video out!
You really explain things in details and perfect!Thank you for making it easy for others to learn😊
I love itt! I didn't make a bag but I used the granny squares the only part I found difficult was making it into a square!
I'm so grateful the kind you teach. Thanks. It's a great idea to do. Thanks from Spain.
I haven’t done this yet, but I’m planning on it and can’t wait! Tysm for posting 😌
So cool! I hope it helps!
Love it, and the first time I crochet these handles, thank you.
Love this! Especially the colors 😍
Just finished mine!!! It was a really good learning experience for me!
how much yarn you used please? in gram or metre please
You taught me how to make a Granny Square... thank you!
Even though I don't know anything about crochet, after watching your video, me also want to do crochet. Very Amazing 🥰🥰
Absolutely wonderful! Thank you!
Very nice. I like to make this.
Also was wondering to ad in an extra row to make a bigger bag. Soo pretty. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful bag, thank you💕
Just finished mine and it’s super cute!!! Thanks for the awesome video
how long did this take you?
Im excited to start learning how to crochet
I've always had trouble remembering my stitches and with counting them. The info you give is very clear and concise which makes it much easier.
For my project I won't be using the sunburst granny square like you do but I'll still be using my newfound confidence when counting my stitches. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the tutorial and i made one for myself...❤
your granny square bag is just different than others, you teach so well that's a beginner can learn👍 Thanks dear for beautiful crochet ⚘⚘❤🥰
Thank you!
Hello!!! I'm an absolute beginner at crocheting and I'd love if you could add more amigurumi videos like how to make whales and other cute animals. I only find your channel having really clear instructions that you could follow along with without pausing as much -- other channels move super fast when teaching people how to do amigurumi :( -- so it'd be so wonderful if you could make more videos about amigurumi. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain everything to us though
for anyone struggling with the i-cord/bag straps, use a bobby-pin to hold the stitches and take it off at the end of the row!
You are literally my savior thank you
I love they way you teach you are amazing❤❤❤
thank you i really enjoyed making this !! v clear instructions
love the tutorial
real nice tutorial, thank you so much!
I love your bag ❤️
i made this bag about a year ago but i’m back making a second one in a different style at the same time as last year ahahah thank you!
look very pretty!!
Hermosa! Me encantó..muchas gracias ❤🙌🇺🇾
Thanks so much for sharing 👍👍
Thank you so much sister.
can you make a tutorial for a balaclava? your tutorials are super helpful and easy to understand!!!
Thanks for sharing
Your bag is so pretty!! I look forward to start one myself
I have a question, did you use yarn in weight 3 for the colors and 4 for the white? not quite sure if i got it right.
Thanks in advance xx
love ur videos it helps alot
Thanks for sharing this ❤ 27:41
I'm making this bag but the thing is my bag is all different colors like how you have white for all of them mines are all different so I don't know what color I should make my strap or what I should slip knot it with. The colors I'm using is a dark green, light yellow, a greenish blue, light purple/pink, orange, and light green.
I love it 🥰 it came out super cute!
Thank you!!
Does anyone know how much approximately yarns do i need for each colour bc i watched too many ytb tutorials and no one is mentioning that
What brand of yarn you used? I loved that you explained the chain 2 isn't the first double crochet. Alot of others would often say it's considered that and I use to get so confused. Even when you're ending the circle to join, I use to get so confused but you explained it. Thank you so much for a detailed explanation.
Thanks so much! I used Red Heart Super Saver in “White” and Lion Brand Mandala Yarn in “Warlock.” I cut up the colored yarn to get different colors!
Beautiful bag! Can you please list the name of colors of yarn that you used, thank you 😊
Excelente
very nice
Did you only use the small balls of yarn (that you showed at the start) for all the granny Squares?
Do I need to line it or just use the bag right away?
Do you have the written patterns available somewhere?
How can you make the bag a bit bigger??
Hello, your tutorial is amazing and i wanted to make it. But could you tell me how many grams of yarn would be needed, like an approximate?😅
How much of the white yarn did you use? I really want to make this bag but I don't want to go buy more yarn :((
At 18:40 she says leave it connected but then goes to another part and then comes back to it. so how to i do that other part without cutting off the yarn in the center, this is rlly unclear
I made this in two evenings. It’s the first time I’ve ever crocheted anything.
the bag is cute but my work kept getting messed up and i can't get it back to the original layout which is super frustrating
Please post a video on winter cap or beanie 🙏🙏🙏
Great idea! Thank you for the suggestion!
hey question, do you cut the yarn at 18:40 or what do you do with it? in the next clip you go down and start stitching squares but where did the yarn go? i don’t understand
I don't know either. I've been try8ng to figure it out.
I left the yarn connected since I planned to crochet along the top of the bag later on!
@@VivCrochets so how do i do the other part without cutting it off
Fight round 13 sain podanuma message pannuga
Can you single crochet them together?
I love this square bag so much can make a scarf in your next video
I’m already have a few things planned for the next videos, but I will try!
Please tell me how much yearn needs?
hi im trying to make my own business on crochet but its really difficult to do crochet can u give me some advise and tips
Hi! I would suggest starting small and practicing a lot! Do easy projects and slowly do more complicated one
hi! i was wondering if for your next tutorial can you please do a water bottle holder? i know i have no control over what you post but i thought it would be a cool suggestion! :)
😊❤
viv please make a simple tote bag tutorial i cant understand anyone but you😭😭
Do you recommend using cotton or acrylic yarn?
most people would recommend cotton yarn so it won’t stretch as much. but i’m still using acrylic yarn because that’s all i own rn loll
Can you do a marshmellow?
Please make shocks video
How much grams of yarn did you use
I used about 120g total
How big are your squares?
help im stuck on slip stitching the squares together and its so confusing
can you use cotton milk yarn?
Yes you sure can!
ممكن تخلين ترجمة عربية 🥺 الفيديو رائع جدا 😩
Are all your squares the same size?
Yes!
Idk why every time I do a poof stitch I get stuck 😢I would like to know what am I doing wrong…
ارجو الترجمة للعربية
Can you put a translation in Arabic? I hardly understand English, and I love your clips 🧶🧡.
U mean 14 squares?
My Shooter ke bich Mein
made the whole bag but gave up on the straps
Instead of doing a magic circle I chain four and going to my first stitch
My toxic trait is trying to finish a section before you finish explaining it so I don’t have to pause
I loved the bag and the tutorial. Could do without the music though. This is so cute and the color choices are endless.
12:24 nooooo why did u stop I can’t remember anything I just crocheted I’m dumb I need u to take me through the whole square 😭😭😭😭😭😭
the assembly is confusing idk 😭
Aaaaaaah i hate it.. its so hard to crochet i just get mad on myself for doing wrong😅😴
