VW Golf Mk1 Cam Shaft Seal - How to do it RIGHT!

The Volkswagen vw golf mk1 gti . In this video I show how to replace the cam shaft seal on the 1.8 8v gti vw engine the first job is to remove the timing belt. This will give you access the cam shaft seal which is why the engine is leaking oil. I hope .. It may not be a job for everyone but if you follow the steps it is doable . The Volkswagen Golf mk1 gti engine is very easy to work on. Buy the parts you need before hand including a But rocker cover gasket, because mine love to leak.

I’ve never done anything engine wise like changing cams etc so last year I changed the timing belt and now I’m on the hunt for oil leaks, I think this was a major one .
Next will the gearbox both the selector seal on top of the gearbox is leaking and the output ( inner cv) joint is leaking and it’s the one with the green cup thing

My gasket came with the required studs to be used with the one piece gasket. The gasket wasn't your problem, it was your studs.

Yeah I don’t know why I didn’t the the studs but it now fits and after 700 miles no leaks
