How do i go about importing things from countries such as Japan into the US?
Sorry for the late response! I actually plan on making a video about it, but I’ll tell you as much as I can here!! I use Buyee, and on Buyee I mostly use Mercari Japan, but sometimes I use Yahoo Japan auctions! How I look for my items I mostly just type in ‘Malice Mizer’ and go wild, but when I’m looking for something specific, I have to type it in Japanese since the entire site is gonna be in Japanese (excerpt menu options, I mean the listings are all gonna be in Japanese since they’re listings directly from the original sites, but you have a translation option on every listing)! For example, if I were looking for the Kyomu no Naka de no Yuugi PV video, I would type in ‘Malice Mizer 虚無の中での遊戯 VHS’ and they would show me the results! For Yahoo Japan auctions it’s the same but you have to bid on the items instead of just buying them, but they also have a ‘sniper bid’ that bids at the end of the auction for you or an immediate purchase option on some listings! All listings are immediately calculated from Japanese Yen so you don’t have to calculate anything! For shipping, once all of your items get to the warehouse (there’s a 30 day time limit on each item to stay in the warehouse for free, otherwise you’ll need to pay a small fee for every extra day), you’ll have to click them all to put them in one giant consolidated package to ship out to you! They have increased the shipping price recently though, in my personal experience the consolidated packages always costed about $33 to ship, but now they’ve gone up to $64 for me, so make sure to be ready for the shipping costs as they’re gonna be a little more surprising than the cool $4 you pay for a CD on there😅 Also when buying, if you’re not sure about an item arriving safely (as in if it’ll be the same item you ordered or some other scam), you can always apply an extra protection plan for a small fee in the checkout that will guarantee that you get a refund of the product you ordered is as you expected! Personally I don’t do that because I’m cheap and nothing bad has happened to me before on here, but it’s better to be safe than sorry sometimes! Don’t be like me lol😅 They accept PayPal, Alipay and most credit/debit cards so it’s nothing really special on that end, and you don’t have to worry about them shipping anything incorrectly to you if your address is correct because it’ll just come in the normal post like FedEx or UPS or any other post you’re used to! Also always make sure to keep up with your emails from them, check every day because they will flat out cancel your order if you don’t check your email and they emailed you something stupid like ‘the seller wants to know if you actually want this item and didn’t buy it by mistake’ (true story) and they’ll delete the item after so you can’t buy it again but that’s extremely rare and only happened to me once but now I’m extremely careful and always check my emails. Also check the person you’re buying from’s name and how many reviews they have, as their name might translate to ‘stop shipping after May 19th’ (another true story) or may have bad reviews or no reviews, which might be untrustworthy! Make sure to keep up with the date you ordered your items because if they haven’t shipped in seven days or more you’ll have to email them because the seller likely won’t ship the item or they have a planned date to ship it! Another funny little quirk that happens to me when I add something to the cart is that sometimes it’ll say that the price has been increased in the amount of time you’ve added the item to the cart (it hasn’t), so you’ll have to take it out and put it in the cart as many times as you have to to get the checkout screen to correct itself and sell at the original price because they probably won’t refund you for that! I think I covered most things that I personally do on there but if there’s anything else you wanna know or any other questions just let me know!
