It’s like a roller coaster that never ends,you keep thinking it’ll crash but the tracks just bend.
Crystal is doomed to have a character arc with almost any character of a new game she plays. It started with Akechi, and slowly went to other characters, like Majima, Sholmes, and now this Hopeful Dude.
Same with Joshua from The World Ends With You… she went from despising him to missing him whenever he wasn’t on screen in the sequel lol

Lmao- honestly same, even after the chapter 1 reveal, I still enjoyed his character. And what's interesting is that until chapter 4, everything he says is completely honest and never sarcastic, but the way his English VA delivers the words makes you interpret otherwise.

I absolutely loved how Nagito literally broke your brain with nearly every piece of dialogue. Can't really help but to respect the psycho, he was really committed to his view of the world.

He's a very lovable character. I mean, obviously he's a dangerous person that IRL should probably be behind bars for both his sake and the safety of everyone else, but he's just so much fun in the game.
He's also interesting because while he doesn't have a high opinion of himself, he unwillingly finds himself in a situation where he needs to become the "hero" that he was expecting to find in the group.
For me he’s the most hate-able character I’ve ever seen in a video game, it’s like he was made to piss me off

Hurrah, you did it. I was hoping you'd make a video for him. Nagito and Akechi are my favourite fictional people because I love complicated, antagonistic and divisive characters. I get more attached to them than the heroes of stories because I love trying to understand why they are who they are. And I enjoy watching other people's reactions to them. Your playthrough of this was the highlight of my week.

at least where she's at in v3 currently, she thinks kokichi is just mainly boring, which is kind of disappointing. she hasn't noticed any of his nuances and just thinks he's a flat villain character who's evil just because (which in some ways is understandable because he's really good at being that)

@MiyaoMeow Really? That's disappointing. I was trying to figure out his character the whole time. That boy has so many layers to his character, they are just not that obvious to see. Also I don't know why ppl keep comparing Ouma and Komaeda all the time, they are very different characters and have VERY different motivations. Not to go into spoilers here because CrystAAHHL needs to see this for herself.

@@komarunaegi7460 She watched the DR3 anime and loved it. UDG she skipped because people were bugging her to play it. I mean it's her choice, but the Nagito content in there is great. Regarding Kokichi, yeahhh... she is quick to realize the logic stuff in these games, but common sense and character motivations she's not very quick to get on. Which isn't a bad thing of course, everyone experiences stuff differently. Kokichi is not an open book, which I immediately realized and that's why I was interested in him right away :)

27:15 that's why I subscribe to the theory that he placed all the evidence they needed in his cottage instead of hiding it better so that the remnants of despair could have a chance at solving the mystery and thus achieving the greatest hope. although this remains largely a fan theory since this possibility was not brought up at all in the game
He knew they would end up solving his needlessly complicated suicide eventually. His ace in the hole was the fire grenade filled with poison, a truly unsolvable mystery that not even Kyoko would be able to figure out. The only reason they made it out of the 5th trial alive is because Chiaki somehow defied her core programming.

I used to hate Nagito's guts, but now I pity him. He is such an extremely confused kid, to put it lightly.
so like, nagito is by far my favourite dr character, i have so many hours of over analyzing him in my head and never got "the right" video on youtube adressing what i missed about experiencing nagito without like, a full plauthrough (which sucks since it takes forever).
this video is legit exactly what i was looking for, someone who decided at the start of the game "here is a cool character" (based on design, flow of the game, voice acting, and just randomness), and from that point to be taken in to an amazing roller coaster.
seeing the amount of attention he took from you through the video, i have so much in common in that aspect. and also, it was hillarious to me to see you say "i won't remember his name" RIGHT :D

When I went blind into DR 2, thinking I will hate it, Nagito completely changed my view on the game. I'm happy someone like him even exists in any piece of media.

Crystal reacting to Nagito literally "excisting" or even mentionned was literally one of the funniest shit I have ever seen on a Danganronpa playthrought.
I always considered him entertaining and one of my favorites. I just didn't realize how much I really loved him until I was watching the anime and his foot showed up on screen and rocks started to fall, and I screamed for a whole minute.

I agree with you, if he knows the truth, he might not do his suicide thing.
The problem is, he just found out that his group are a remnant of despair, something that he hates so much. And Chiaki can't tell the truth to him either because she's not programmed to do it
If Chiaki tells Nagito the truth, the game will go to different route, and maybe ends faster too. I wish I can see this alternate ending lol
I don't think he'd change his behaviour too much. He has a rather absolute way of looking at things, if someone failed to resist despair once they're not good enough in his mind. I think he understood the truth well enough to make an informed decision, the details he was missing probably wouldn't have changed his mind.
Of course, afterwards he's pretty much kept in check by Super Saiyan 3 Hajime.
Neither love or hate works for the emotion one feels after seeing Nagito. It simply is an emotion without a current name. you simultaneously know he is a twisted person, but also want to believe he is doing a good, and want to see what he is up to

i love watching others' sdr2gd playthroughs and concentrate on their view on komaeda throughout the game. it's the main reason i watched almost all youtubers play it. there is just something very entertaining about seeing everyone die inside. you get to see some very meme-able expressions and reactions anytime he talks, some people completely skip through his dialogue while sighing and some people...just love him. i think crystal had some of the best reactions and i'm happy he got his own video. funni.

I mean Komaeda is so infamously crazy he pretty much has became a character archetype (even if there was several characters like him before, such as Joshua from TWEWY and Kaworu from EVA). It has pretty much became a meme that characters get compared to him as the "(insert series)'s Komaeda". Akechi being one of these characters.

While I'm sure you've been told about it a number of people, it's heavily implied that all of Nagito's backstory is actually true, and serves as the explanation to both his mental illness and general apathy towards life. He likely says that it was all a lie because he doesn't want people to empathize with him.
best character in the series
I've said it before, but the rivals get harder and harder to wrap your brain around. Byakuya, while he wasn't an open book, it's not hard to tell what he wants and why he does things. Nagito, his actions and his motives aren't always pointing the same direction, but you can chalk it up to "Dude's brain is turning into swiss cheese." He really should have been chaperoned.
I'm assuming if you're here you've played 1 and 2, spoilers for V3 Chapter 5 below break.
And then fucking Kokichi, you never really know what he wants or why he is the way he is. His plans and his motives are known only to him. If left to his own devices, he gets up to some shit. You can't really take anything he says at face value.

Dealing with Nagito has given Crystaahl a new emotion.
Honestly my experience with Nagito was very different. I loved him from the beginning, then when he turned out to be crazy I still loved him but it made me really sad and frustrated because I just couldn't understand him. It stayed that way until the trial for his death, when I found out he was hoping Chiaki would be his killer, then I hated him with all my being... and then I got over it and went back to loving him while watching the anime
He was trying to kill everyone else and save Chiaki by making an unsolvable murder but Monokuma took advantage of him
I went from "So you're the new Sayaka, huh? I guess I should spend an FTE slot on you. At least you're not as shoved down our throats as her." to "Ohhh you're insane, you're gonna be interesting." to "HE WAS INTERESTING!"

But at the time I thought he knew who the traitor was. Tho I probably would've hated him anyways because in the end it lead to Chiaki being executed and I loved her too
