The really-really fucked up part is when you realize that between encounters like that, accidents he's survived, and potentially being conscripted into various conflicts around the world at different times, he's probably killed many sons and grand-sons. The way the world is, a man that has been alive 14,000 years is definitely a man who has more than one kind of body-count.

It is a surprisingly good movie. It may be underrated because it has the look of an ultra-low budget indie film.
It has a sequel too.. Came out in 2017
i dont know about most underrated but it is def underrated , a solid watch,, and enjoyable flick with a nice twist at the end

@@natas9967 That one is trash and is a low budget indie film. Where it devolves from the curiosity of a caveman living for 14k years and going through all of history to only focusing on him being Jesus Christ and a fanatical Christian ties him up and tries to kill him for blasphemy. Only for him to escape and the very last scene seems to indicate that perhaps he IS a life vampire and there's a string of dead bodies that follows his aliases after he disappears. Hated everything about it, but the twist final scene ending and Venessa Williams' beautiful eyes. Go Ahead Rick Stedtler! Do your thing!
Best movie made in just a room and just talking can make you stick to your seat with all emotions .
I don’t even need to see the movie to know it’s a gut wrencher, being immortal seems like such a…..painful experience.

I had to tear up at that movie. I did not expect it to be so great. I had no idea. But it was a masterpiece.
I love the movie but it is far from a masterpiece (IMO at least). The acting and dialog is pretty rough at times and some of the camera work/ blocking is clunky. The movie does make you think and isn't ever bad. But I feel like it is a stretch to call it a masterpiece just because it has a really interesting plot
@@bobdragon6262 well when I watched it many years ago. I loved it. Every movie that is able to captivate mate is a masterpiece for me because I am easily bored and I cant sit through any movie these days.

His name is John, not David. And his friends in the party are all his colleagues from different departments in the university, and hence it's a group that can go into depths of a lot of subjects like anthropology and archeology.
This movie is AMAZING! They're basically just sitting down and talking but the dialouge and characters are so well written that you get immediately engaged in their conversation. My brother showed it to me and I'm glad that he did because I love this film. If you get the chance to see it, do it. Not every movie has to be a grand adventure; sometimes, what this movie does is enough. The Man From Earth is incredible

I must respectfully disagree. You need quality acting to pull off a production like this one.
I wouldnt say the acting was phenomenal. The writing from a point of view that was not ever experienced and having what seemed like perfect answers to questions that havent been answered is talent.
For 130 years he has treated a real Van Gough like a $10 print and it’s still in top condition?
Writing is stretching credibility to breaking point in a number of ways.
He may have been alive for aeons, but happening to be living in rural France and being friends with a reclusive painter that was practically unknown during his lifetime but turned out to be one of the greatest painters ever. Seems unlikely.
Plus the random friend who spots the painting is also enough of an expert to instantly recognise an unknown Van Gogh work as definitely an original Van Gogh at first sight. Then lets him shove it in the back of a truck.
The man's been alive for 150000 years and you draw the line at a particularly resilient painting? Lol

Can you imagine the incredible things a 14,000 yr old being has been privy to in his life time, friends and lovers gone in the twinkling of time while he hasn't aged a day, many many wars, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, cities destroyed or flooded by mega, oceanic tidal inundation, not to mention the billions of lives passing away whist you continue on, fantastic changes in technology and medicine, Atmospheric changes, now, all that, on the surface may seem cool, but there is an element of sadness that casts a dark shadow over living an excessively long period of time, what of the effect on your mental state, on reflection, I like the idea of living longer, say 2-300yrs, but 14000, yeah nah, you can keep it.
That's why you have children..wait til those kings kingdom crash then loot them..or wait till someone with fortune that have no kids find their hidden stash..it's a lot of time to accumulate a cash fortune.... think if he saved a penny to a dollar for 14,000 years and get to live alongside his son's sons

People would have feared you, persecuted you. Tried to hurt you. You would have to keep moving. Stay under the radar. Not draw attention. Why would you want to be emperor of the world ? What for ? Life is a journey. It’s not about power. It’s about being a good person

If your just going around resetting your life every few years your just being selfish and leading a decidedly depressing life. If your immortal the only way to have any true purpose is to have a duty to something just as eternal, you have all the tools to create something eternal and that is through your own species. Even if that isn’t eternal due to something out of your control if you stretch out the species far enough it’s is almost certain that you will eventually find other being with immortality.
