    I use B1, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12 in activated forms for mental health. My favourite is B6 as P5P. I love activated methylated forms which I often pair with vit C, zinc, magnesium & EAAs. I balance methylation with b6/b9/b12/glycine (methyl donars) and niacin (methyl group acceptors).
    My favourite folate is metafolin . My favourite B3 is niacinamide (non flush) and nicotinic acid (flush).
    I have tried more than 15 brands of B complexes over time and then been able to decode optimal forms.

      These are really excellent, I like your choices. I would add conceptually that 1. heavy metals must be identified and reduced if present, 2. mineral deficits like iodine, boron, lithium are super important in the B vitamins, 3. Lectins in foods can rob one of nutrients, and inflame the tissues. 4. carbs can drive undermethylation at the root of all this. 5. animal based foods balance these problems so much faster than a plant based diet, and I use labs to test this for 30 years.

    • @sgtaneja
      @sgtaneja Před hodinou +1

      @TheHumanCondition Agree to most, esp animal based foods. But if you have been a vegetarian for most part of your life, and have chronically low stomach acids, enzyme & bile output, you have to introduce animal foods gradually as baby steps and not jump to all out strict Carnivore diet big bang as well as balance carnivore, with atleast some plant based polyphenols, prebiotic fiber, and sources of folate, magnesium, potassium, vit C etc. In my view 100% carnivore or 100% plant diets are both illogical and unsustainable. Also in my view, post soil nutrient depletion most plants & hence animal produce is not as nutrionally dense as imagined & projected to be, and the source & quality of dietry produce (both animal & plant) is critically more important, as well as how they are cooked/consumed. Further, just consuming muscle meat (richer in methionine, leucine, muscle proteins etc for example) is a poor choice as many a times organ meats esp liver, glandulars, & bone marrow are 10X nutrionally dense (glycine, taurine, b vitamins, iron, zinc, copper, vit A, selenium, lipid protein activators, stem cells, thymic proteins, cortex proteins, enzyme pool, etc). But, 60% carnivores have 80% muscle meats either due to availability, quality budget, ignorance, or choice related issues.

    About a month ago my body and mind felt different one day. I was experiencing anxiety like I never have before. I couldn’t fall asleep because my heart was pounding so hard and I would have heat flash all day and all night. My mind felt like it was going insane. My thoughts didn’t make any sense to me or my actions. I would question every single thing I did and thought. I felt like life was a movie and everything was scripted and fake.
    I knew it had to be something I was taking and come to find out I was taking over 30 thousand percent of my daily dose of vitamin B. I was taking multiple multivitamins and pre workout that all had high doses of vitamin B.
    So I stopped taking it and it took awhile for it to get out of my system. I’m still not 100% better but I do feel way better than I did. I’m not sure if my celiac disease contributes to it as well.
    I really appreciate you taking time to educate and help other people because it can save someone!

    I was raised by hippie parents as a vegetarian from birth and noticed a lot of those depression, anger and fatigue symptoms growing up. I always wondered if a lot of these mental mood and anxiety problemd were caused by malnutrition. I didnt notice cognitive difficulty perhapd from the diet though until around my 30s.Its interesting how a younger persons brain is somehow more able to compensate or stay in cognitive balance on limited nutrients while mood seems to improve with age and the lowering of hormone production.

      Yes I see lots of problems with B6 too high. Niacin is a miracle vitamin but needs to be balanced with niacinamide. I get paid to figure out complex balances and ratios and forms of vitamins and minerals for people with problems. When I get the off plants and onto animal foods my job becomes simple and they don't need many supplements. The transition can be tough though. I respect vegan and vegetarian choices but wow is it easier to make massive progress with neuroautoimmune and heart and kidney disease with animal foods-high quality of course.

    • @TheHumanCondition

      Magnesium has less side effects than B vitamins, but Bs are all different. Dose matters, and B6 or B12 or folates can drive anxiety if dose is too high or if mineral deficient. Mag at 500 is typical for adults generally. I look for loose stools as a sign of max dose. There are several forms of magnesium too-the most tolerated bowel one is glycinate.

    • @TheHumanCondition
      @TheHumanCondition  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The B vitamins can be hard to balance. When I see this happen, it usually turns out to be a heavy metal toxin, undermethylation, mineral imbalance like lithium deficit, or MTHFR SNP which is a genetic error of folate metabolism. I would find a Walshinstitute.org certified clinician to investigate if I had this.

    • @TheHumanCondition
      @TheHumanCondition  Před 7 měsíci

      Niacinamide was good for schizophrenia when it was driven by overmethylation, however it is moving towards a undermthylation dominance with a lot of oxidative stress as a contributing driver. See William Walsh of the Walshinstitute.org. Niacinamide can be great for circulation in the brain and for many other metabolic problems too.

      For sure-I meant to expand on that. In the context of this topic, I was referring specifically to the Yasko and Walsh and Shaw type of feature that happens with certain methylation types that get hyperactive brain sensations such as: cannot slow the brain, feel like they are on caffeine or cocaine, or a sugar high all the time, cannot stop repetitive music "ear worms" playing in their head like a jingle from a commercial on media, or get skin paresthesia feelings like insects crawling, or word-finding difficulties, focus and concentration or distractibility, sometimes they find themselves counting corners and edges and facial features, or wheels on cars, or feeling an unsettled feeling of needing to move-cannot sit still and fidget. This can be anxiety, fear, or even mania and euphoria. See Nutrient Power by William Walsh, PhD.

    • @TheHumanCondition
      @TheHumanCondition  Před rokem

      Typically I use grass fed beef organ meat pills or brewers yeast either fortified or unfortified, depending on SNPs or anxiety history, and the typical servings in B complex range: B1 1mg to 50 mg; B2 1 mg to 50 mg; and B12 2 to 3 mcg to 500 mcg. A B50 is called B50 because most of the doses are 50 mg or 500mcg of the B vitamins for energy, and that is thousands to 20,000x the RDA. This is not generally a problem, but it can be a lot for some people. Reducing carbs and lectins really helps with restorative needs and reduces the needs for B vitamins and vitamin C.

    • @TheHumanCondition
      @TheHumanCondition  Před 2 lety +1

      Based on numbers I would explore relative B12 intolerances related to COMT and VDR genes as described by Amy Yasko, Ph.D. in her free ebook Genetic Bypass on Knowyourgenetics.com. She discusses the combination of these 2 SNP mutations can yield relative intolerance of methyl B12 forms. Natural OTC lithium and other trace minerals may be needed sometimes too. Let us know if this helps.

    • @sgtaneja
      @sgtaneja Před 19 dny +1

      Folate/5MTHF (not folic acid) usually has a calming/relaxing effect as it directly impacts the methylation of a number of neurotransmitters, hormones and proteins. It also impacts SAM/SAH ratio.
      B12 including methyl B12 is more energizing due to its closer involvement in energy metabolism, protein synthesis and rapid RBC turnover.
      I take folate during evenings and B12 during the day time.
      If you feel too wired up after having b12 that could be bcoz :
      1. You are NOT having methylsted version aka methylcobalamin
      2. Or you are Not having the supporting cofactor required to absorb & utilize b12 and that imp factor is vit B6 in its activated form as P5P. Note - b12 & folate depend on each other, b12 additionally depends on b6, magnesium, potassium.
      I maintain a ratio of 4:1 between folate:b12 e.g 400mcg of folate for 100mcg of methylcobalamin.
      If you have b12 in isolation without some active b6, you'll develop intolerance for b12....I.e serum levels will go up but intracellular tissue levels will decline and the liver, kidneys etc will Not be able to absorb , store & utilize b12.
      Further you need IF (intrinsic factor) to extract b12 & transport it.

      Many people use niacin with vitamin C for cholesterol support-it causes a flush sensation. Niacinamide or nicotinic acid is supposed to be the flush-free kind, and it supports circulation, acetylcholine and brain chemistry methylation pathways. One causes a flush and the other does not. Either are vitamin B3.

So I'm kind of confused as to what's going on and what else I need to do to regulate all my different b vitamins. I want taking any other supplements, although I just started taking one called Daily Complete from Pure Trim. And it has folic acid in it and I'm worried that my folic acid is already 24.4 What happens if it gets higher? Is it safe for me to take it? They put b vitamins and folic acid in everything. Especially cereals. I wish they wouldn't do that So I don't really know what's going on with my system and my doctors don't know either because they don't really know a lot about pernicious anemia and nutrition and the link to the gut and brain. • @TheHumanCondition
      @TheHumanCondition  Před 2 lety +9

      This is really common, thank you. We see people with problems from B complex do a few things that lead to success commonly but not without exception. One thing is to check hair for heavy metals and work on clearing this because heavy metals poison enzymes and mess up how we respond to vitamins. another thing is to add a variety of trace and macro minerals to help the B vitamins work-the minerals are called cofactors in the chemical reactions of the body and are required for B vitamins to work. Last, we often need to purchase B-vitamins separately and individually so that we can tune up and down the serving size of each one independently to see the effects on us.
      This is annoying, but its not expensive and it can really help people figure out through self-testing what they need and what they react poorly to. The form of each vitamin can make a difference for some people too, and each vitamin and mineral can have several forms of molecules it is delivered with. And of course, food elimination diets can really help people figure out which foods they do not agree with, and this changes needs for each vitamin. If all this is tried and no help, a QEEG brain map can help identify electrical problems in the brain and maybe neurofeedback or tDCS can help sleep. There are lots of sleep supplement strategies too, but I always start with addressing insulin resistance and cortisol through low carb methods. Even sex hormone testing can aid sleep sometimes.
      I hope everyone is seeing a pattern here- my responses are always structurally the same-whatever the diagnosis is, its best to investigate all the same major issues of toxins, metabolism, diet, chiropractic, acupuncture, sleep, hormones, minerals and lifestyle issues. Why, you may ask, do I do the same kind of things for different illnesses? because genetic variation may lead one person to have a different health issue emerge than another even with the same imbalance -for example if 2 people have a magnesium deficit you may see 2 wildly different manifestations from the same problem.

My meat eater patients are much easier to balance their brain and mental health, and I rarely need the intellectual gyrations and SNP precisions when I get people clean gums, unprocessed foods, clean meat, clean water, less drugs, better sleep, more clean saturated fats, clear out chronic heavy metals and herbicides/pesticides/fire retardants, revise any failed dental situation, and get chiropractic adjustments. Why B17 is not available inUS.?

    • @TheHumanCondition
      @TheHumanCondition  Před 2 lety +2

      Vitamin B15 and B17, pangamic acid and amygdalin respectively, are not recognized as vitamins by FDA, although they are easily available offshore and through common foods and seeds, but one must be careful. They are illegal because some people eat apricot pits to get B17 and get cyanide poisoning for real. There is also the cancer claims that are unproven but have a mechanism that is plausible if unproven. Krebs, who named the Krebs citric acid cycle in biochemistry, was discounted when he ventured into the cancer world. I guess the industrial complex vilifies even great scientists who threaten their dollar. The dose matters and whether it helps cancers remains a battleground. Here is one study to consider, although I am not in the cancer treatment game:

    If you need B6 get it from food only and only as much as the recommended daily amount (1.3mg if you are under 50 and 1.5mg if you are over 50). You do NOT want to develop B6 toxicity and there is zero need to supplement.

      this is a form of B3 niacinamide that is popular. It can be very useful, with some rough effects at super high doses. I find that plant based diets require all kinds of gyrations to get niacin, but grass fed organic ruminant organ meats provide the most B3 of all. I use this one clinically and many other forms of niacin, including even referral for NAD intravenous therapy. The scope of use is broad. Thank you!

      By my reading Yasko and Walsh say sometimes, when there is a deficit of lithium or magnesium, a deficit or excess of B6, a deficit if B3, or when the patient is overmethylating. Look for symptoms of anxiety, overwhelm, brain buzz where it won't stop thinking, or depression sometimes and insomnia. Safer for the SNP or overmethylation patient is hydroxy or adenosyl B12 and watch for histapenia-low histamine.

      B vitamins usually help modulate brain fog unless its caused by something else like a concussion or PTSD. Sometimes people are sensitive to methyl B12 or folic acid and need to use hydroxy B12 or methyl folate to calm their overactive thoughts.

      Consider the methylation testing of the Walshinstitute.org protocol at DHA labs, and also the Amy Yasko's work around COMT and VDR intolerance of methyl b12 and often 5-mf. There may be a zinc, copper or aluminum problem too. Consider a Walsh or functional medicine or neurology doc with experience in this. My website opens next month too, stay tuned.

    "0:12" -- Topic
    "0:16" -- "B Complex Vitamins are cheap & easy to obtain..."
    "0:19" -- B Vitamins are inexpensive "to produce, to sell, & to buy." (See "0:57" for how that this becomes problematic in the hands of greedy manufactures who stuff more B Vitamins into their products to increase the claims & therefore cost of their products to consumers.)
    "0:22" -- B Vitamins are "pretty safe & that generally they are water soluble so they come out of our bodies fairly quickly"
    "0:29" -- But the results of B Complex Vitamins deficiency, or therapeutic overdose, are several & serious, even involving mental health problems.
    "0:43" -- The primary focus of this video are B Vitamins for mental health.
    "1:03" -- The energy boost from some B Vitamins is comparable to imbibing caffeine. There can be a rush of energy....
    "1:13" -- The side effects to ending up with too much of particular B Vitamins in one's system due to unwitting oversupplementation by taking products that each have B Vitamins in them are, among others, tachycardia (increased heart rate, a.k.a. palpitations), elevated blood pressure, & increased perspiration. Persons experiencing such unpleasant results of overdose often, per Dr. Michael Pierce, think they have a thyroid malady.
    "1:30" -- There is considerable overuse of the designation "B Complex Vitamins," for there are many B Vitamins & many of them do not make it into most supplement formulations. But, from what I'm gathering, that is a good thing that the whole lot of them are not packed into one product, for everybody isn't deficient in all of them, & so problems can result from supplementing what doesn't need supplementation. So the primary reason for the mention seems to be simply to make people aware that the phrase "B Complex Vitamins" is often misleading because it is not usually comprehensive with regard to all the B Vitamins extant in the realm of reality.
    "1:40" -- Several types of B Vitamins are mentioned at this point, including some that, admittedly, I wasn't aware of prior to this video, such as "B 17."
    "2:01" -- What does "B 50" mean? This is addressed at this juncture within the video.
    "2:15" -- "RDA" (ie. "Recommended Daily Allowance") versus "megadosing." Dr. Pierce notes he isn't again using above the RDA, but rather against just flippant supplementation at high dosages without any studied approach to determine exactly what is going on in a particular person's & what the particular dosage, etc, needs are.
    "2:33" -- The types of B Vitamins that are frequently overdosed on are B 12 & B 6 (see also "7:25" on problems with too much Vitamin B6), because they are usually megadosed in B Complex Vitamin products available nowadays. Too much of these can cause insomnia ("3:12").
    "3:15" -- There are things to be aware of with regard to the forms of B 12 available, because, for one, one form may not be able to be so easily processed in the bodies of some persons as another form would be. Methylation, hypermethylation, or lack of methylation is a topic discussed at this point.
    "4:36" -- When Adenosyl/Hydroxy B12 would be recommended is mentioned.
    "4:44" -- The possible need for certain natural safe forms of Lithium is mentioned, as well as Rubidium ("4:48") & Magnesium ("4:50").
    "4:51" -- The Periodic Table is referenced for nutritional purposes.
    "5:34" -- Folate (B 9 Vitamins) forms, & how that some people need to get rid of Methyl B 12 out of their regimen ("....about 15 to 20%....") ("6:14") as well as Folic Acid ("6:26") to bring in instead Tetramethyl Hydrofolate ("6:29") are points discussed. Do not overdo the Tetramethyl Hydrofolate, however, as there are concerning side effects one will have to deal with in so doing ("6:57").
    "7:10" -- Panthothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) very beneficial to the body, though often neglected, beneficial like for overcoming inflamed adrenal glands.
    "8:19" -- Niacin ("flush form" -- see "8:54") & Niacinamide (generally "no-flush form") (Vitamin B3) are discussed, & it is noted that this B Vitamin "is extremely important in human healt," e.g. helpful in dealing with aggression & other mental problems, as well as cholesterol control (rf. "9:41"). Certain side effects of Niacin & Niacinamide are discussed ("9:04"), how to stop the flushing ("10:17") (which shouldn't be occurring with Niacinamide usage, but indicates severe deficiency if it does -- "10:37"), as well as benefits ("11:06" & "11:40") & useful dosages ("11:25"). (NOTE: Dr. Pierce says he generally sticks to 500 mg for his patients.)
    You're welcome for my painstaking provision in my post of notes & timestamps, & my thanks to Dr. Michael Pierce for this exceedingly informative & helpful video on several B Vitamins, information that people find is quite difficult to get out of most doctors in the medical community, for their schooling blinds these doctors to this type of information & even discourages them from being open to such information, hence the typical ignorance & resistance on the part of those doctors.
