So jealous of the Australian MESBG community! Amazing work (as always). : )
Thanks dude :)
The german community greets you Lachlan! We will have our contribution to this awesome project ! Greetings
Utterly blown away by the support guys thank you all so much!
Servus!
So I’m now curious. Will you ever attempt to build erabor or a dwarven style terrain?id love to see a batrep recreate the dwarves vs arzog from the first hobbit movie :3 but I’m excited to see this city built! It must have a massive batrep:D
Sure will! My mate Declan is workin on Erebor at the moment :)
just starting to build my first wall. great video mate!
That's fantastic mate!
Love these videos - your terrain is some of the best out there. I'm looking forward to seeing the end product of this Minas Tirith community build :-) keep up the good work!
Glad you like them!
Great work! Looks awesome!!
Cheers man :D soooooo much to go though hahahaha
as usual, deserves more views, stunning models :) good job guys!
Thanks again!
You're a legend mate, and I'm really looking forward to see how big this board ends up being. I'm primarily a Warhammer 40K hobbyist (dabbling a bit in Warcry) and I love seeing your build videos. I became aware of you after you posted the video of the Osgiliath board. Wish you all the best!
Hell yeah dude, glad you're enjoying it all man :) :)
Very astonished walls and towers, I love it ! Great Great job ! Thank you for sharing your building methods
Glad you like them :)
Oh my gosh! That looks so cool! I was losing my mind not being able to see your video because my news feed has been nothing but bad news, amid all of this chaos going on in the world. I needed something to bring me a little bit of cheer, and this definitely did it. Your wall looks phenomenal! If you seriously build the ENTIRE castle, I might just die from it's glory. You never disappoint when it comes to building amazing battle fields and scenery. Keep it up!
Ah dude thanks so much :) Glad I could brighten up the day! We'll see how much we get done, we're hoping for a large portion of the lower levels at the very least and then add to it over time :D :D
I guess I've got a new part to make! Looks amazing, can't wait to see how that goes tower comes together
Will have it up really soon!!
Your doing great! These terrain videos are super helpful to look at when attempting what your doing. I hope once I grab my materials sooner or later I can rewatch this again and create some fantastic terrain 🙏
Which that reminds me, I need to make a list lol
Good luck! Next part out this week!
Lovely work! I'm envious of your skills!
Thanks Tim! Hopefully the guides and templates make it easy for anyone!

Thanks Z. Lovin it. Gonna build it. ............ Sort of. Kinda. Subbed.
I believe in you!!
Wow great job
I surrely want to see a scenario for this Terrain
You know its coming RAF!!!
Very good process detailing video. Just on couple of tip if you want to gain time and work: use a pyrosaw to cut trouw multiple pieces, and use a sponge to apply the multipurpose filler, it is faster and come back after with a watered sponge to cleaner it after. Good luck for the next!
Oh dude that is a brilliant idea!!! Will absolutely try that next time !
nice art
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you for the superb templates, it is a pity that I have some difficulty to understand English.
That does not prevent that I adore the tutorials, superb continues like that, a hello from Europe :)
Glad they're helpful mate! Sorry I speak so fast :(
Wonderful modelling with alot of care for the source, idea of bringing them all together after covid is awesome, .. support your hobbit hobby, saying hello from the UK
Support your Hobbit Hobby! Thetes onenI haven't heard in a while Haha. Thanks so much mate, stay safe :)
nice walls!
Thanks bro!!
WOW
Thanks mate!
Amazing. Have you ever thought of doing the black gates of mordor?
Actually one of my mates is doing them, he posted some wonderful photos up on our Facebook group :)
having cut a finger to the bone this year I had a fight/flight response to you cutting towards your hand like that
Yeah I need to be less careless with knifework!
@@Zorpazorp I did it doing the exact same thing you were, cutting a small bit of foam, and I was using a blade I had just taken out of the packet not ten minutes before. I was finding blood spatters I had missed a week later. and I have what's looking like a permanent divet in my finger. I felt physically ill looking at my knife for two weeks after it happened. Don't be like me, its not a great way to get the lesson to hit home.
Think you could do one of these for helms deep? Id love some advice as i approach that step
They'll be the project for 2021!!
Awesome video. Im looking to use a similar techique for my 'model railway through middle earth' that I'm working on. Do you have a link to the sheets of foam/polystyrene that you use
They're just from bunnings mate :) but not al stores carry it knauf foam board
Honestly I cant’ wait to see your complete city.
It sure will be big! Although we wont build the whole thing, that would be over 7m high Haha, but we'll build as much as we can, and everything that will be built will be full scale, no small walls or buildings.
Excellent what kind of sponge are you working with?
Extruded polystyrene foam :)
What do you use to make a lot of dark wash?
Amazing! Just a question, are you thinking to make the main door of Minas Tirith?
Of course :D
Hmm, I tried to post a URL showing a photo of the Minas tirith castle I built, but it won't let me for some reason.
That's a big knife, mate
I am an aussie after all haha
That looks amazing! What matereal did you use? And where can i find it? Sorry for my english im german.^^
Extruded polystyrene not expanded polystyrene but not sure on Germany sorry mate!
You should add in functional machicolations!
Duuuuude how cool would that be! Maybe above the gate?
@@Zorpazorp Well, to be realistic, they should be everywhere there is an overhang, but don't take this as too much of a critic, it really looks awesome as it is ^^ !
@@Bombur888 You're spot on haha, thanks man!
What kind of foam do you use?
I've never done this before but your work looks sweet and I wanna give it a try
Extruded Polystyrene :)
@@Zorpazorp Thank you!
Where do you get your foam from, and what exactly is the foam
Extruded polystyrene, bunnings :)
Whats the brand of that large orange razor knife
Just random knife from Bunnings, craftright I think. It's trash, but it just needs to hold blades :)
Wait a moment what is that material that give you the thickness?👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️ The hobby knife was so smooth cutting it ! I need it !!!!!!
Just Foam buddy, the key is to change your blades ALL THE TIME haha
Can anyone tell me a link where I can buy the foam which is used in the video?
I get from Bunnings in Australia :)
hey boys not first not second not third but number 4!
Yeahya!
I'm not sure if you said this somewhere else or not, but for the Final Minas Tirith, what will the dimensions be (Assuming 1:1 scale with miniatures)? are you going to have the army sizes to scale as well? for such a gigantic battlefield, how are you guys gonna reach the troops in the center? i think Minas tirith will be like 4-5metres across. Do you trust yourselves to tip-toe through thousands of plastic orcs?
Not really sure to be honest, at this point we're just aiming for a serious portion of the first two levels, and we'll keep adding to that over time. Bu "full scale", we mean that the components we build are in the appropriate scale to 28mm, not that we're building the entire city.
At 28mm scale Minas Tirith is 7 meters high and has a diameter of about 5m Haha!! But if we get enough people working on it maybe we will get it to that size one day Haha.
As for the armies, we wont have too much of the fields so it's easy to access the walls, with troops simple moving on to the board edge near the gates, or the bases of siege towers.
We'll probably line it up with my existing Pelennor Fields board too.
I'd say we're aiming for about 5m length of wall to start with :)
Are you also gonna build siege towers?
Sure am dude! Just posted up a photo under the hashtag on our Facebook page :)
What foam is being used?
Extruded Polystyrene :)
Hey I would like to know where you get the foam from? SP I live on the Gold Coast
Bunnings bro! Knauf multi purpose foam board in the lumber lanyard or insulation section
@@Zorpazorp thank you so much bro
No probs at all my man, be sure to throw up photos of whatever you make on the ZZ community facey page
first
edit: YES I HAVE SECURED THIS POSITION
Hahahaha
If I wanted to make the walls to be as high as the ladders, how high xps foam should I get?
As which ladders? The Uruk high siege crew ladders?
@@Zorpazorp yes those ladders.
@@Potatowithaknife Don't have any to hand mate, but just grab a big sheet and cut it down to the right size :)
@@Zorpazorp Alright, I haven't done anything with xps foam. So when looking online for decent foams I got a bit overwhelmed.
@@Potatowithaknife That's fair dude it seems scary at first. You just want to grab a sheet of Extruded Polystyrene, make sure it isn't expanded Polystyrene that's the white bubbly stuff.
Your best bet is a hardware store, it's often in the insulation section and sometimes as foil back on it that you need to peel off :)
If you're in Australia Bunnings has it in some stores, or you can get it directly from Knaupf.
gracias mr. king...get some sleep bruh!
Yea tell me about it hahaha
Says 3rd video..... I can only find 1 other. The main wall and battlements, what is the 2nd video??
Sorry dude I also included the general stonework painting tutorial, this is technically the 2nd vid :)
Zorpazorp thank you. Was thinking there was a missing video on the interior buildings from the downloadable templates.
The buildings were just released early :) video for them soon!
Pfffffff, looks luke a stressful project😂😂
Indeed hahaha
i must ask, minas tirith is a half circle, all those walls are straight.
Yeah I've designed them straight because it makes the wall pieces more usable but other games and also easier for people to make at home and then we'll bring in wedges in a future video to install to make a rough approximation of the curved surface like a huge polygon :)
The exterior walls must be black according to tolkien they are made of the same black stone as the tower of Saruman
why doesn't your website just have a downloads page? i shouldn't have to go through a purchase process for stuff you are putting out for free
