- Without my kitchen mixer, I thought it would be impossible to make a layered cake, and yet, I proved myself wrong! The best part about my sponge cake and chocolate ganache filling is that it's so easy to make BY HAND.
No mixers needed!
I've added a wood-like texture to the ganache and finished this cake off with some homegrown edible flowers to make it look natural yet indulgent.
Step up to the challenge and try it out yourself! Recipe below.
Enjoy! x
Cake:
2 x 6 inch tins:
250g melted butter
250g caster/white sugar
200g (4) eggs
225g self-raising flour
25g cocoa powder
2 x 7 or 8 inch: double the recipe
Chocolate ganache:
500ml double cream
400g dark chocolate

Okay.... So I made a layered cake for the first time a few weeks ago... What I did for a make shift turn table was pull out the ring and plate from the Microwave and voila! Lol. It does not necessarily stay in one place but it turn easily!
Never thought of that - what a great idea!!
You make it look so easy,i love your work ♥♥♥

I love this recipe, I did it last year and planning on doing it again very soon, the ganache is perfect! And so easy to decorate the cake as I have always found making frosting so much harder to do!

If you can get your hands on some Dulce de Leche, My best version of chocolate ganache is replacing the cream for melted butter, and topping it with dulce de leche and melted chocolate.
The flavour is incredible and it holds up a LOT more than regular ganache
Sounds delicious!
What a great tutorial! I cannot wait to give this a try (and if not for you, I'd have no idea where to begin! Thank you so much.
Have fun!
Thank you for your tutorials are so well done and easy to follow 👏🏻👏🏻 can you please tell me the recipe for this ganache consistency.... thank you ! 😘🌻
This is so great & easy to follow :) Was wondering if I can add coffee on the chocolate mix?
Hi Georgia, this looks amazing I know in one of your previous videos you said you used the same batter for your cupcakes as well. If I was making normal sized cupcakes not the minis would the above yield enough for 12?
Loools amazing!... btw what made you move to tel Aviv?
I prefer the creaming method
Hi, Dear Georgia. Please, would you tell me If I could use this ganache to frost a cake and cover it with fondant?
500ml doble cream and 400gr chocolate?
Thank you for this tutorial. Amazing as always realized this recipe does not have baking soda or baking powder. Will it rise without these ingredients? Thanks
There's self raising flour which basically all purpose flour with raising agent
Hi, I have a little bit of a question but would really use your advice on this :)
If I have to keep my cake in the refrigerator, because of all the inside (whipping cream etc), I want to use milk chocolate ganache to frost it on the outside to look nice, smooth and taste awesome.
How long before I have to take it out to let the chocolate go on the softer side and not rock hard?
Or should I just frost it before serving? Thank You :)
Tell me one thing plz...if we want to use a cake next day ,so can i wrap and put that in fridge instead of freezer. Because i need to use next day. Or i have to freez it ?
Does it differ if we use couveture or compound chocolate?
Is the ganache enough for a 3 layer 6 " cake ? 😅
Can caster sugar and granulated sugar be used interchangeably? Thank you!
if you have a blender/food processer just blitz the granulated a little (not too much or you will make icing sugar) to make it finer
Hi Geogia,
What percentage of cocoa is in your dark chocolate ?
Can you please tell me if the same amount of ganache would be sufficient for a 3 layer 8 inches cake
And one more thing, can you plz tell me what are these Edible Flowers ?
And from where I can get these ,
Will be really thankful to you ✨
Most flowers in the garden are edible! This is a helpful link www.thompson-morgan.com/edible-flowers
Did you let the cake completely cool in the tin before wrapping in cling wrap?
Hi! :), What is the ratio if i want to make a white chocolate ganache?
When you leave them overnight. Is it in the fridge?
If you overheat the butter should you just over again?
Can I use this ganache ratio for a number cake ? Will it hold piping it ?
Hey georgia... can u kindly help me with this....is it ok to use normal vegetable oil instead of butter in this recipe?
I also want to know 😢
Where did you get your sugar syrup brush from?
I followed the recipe exactly, but my batter is super thick...should I add water or milk/cream???
Hi Georgia can your use oil instead of butter if so how much please
If we do not have a self rising Flour then what is the quantity for baking powder?
what brand of coco powder did u use? i use unsweetened coco powder and it makes my cake bitter. would this measurement of sugar with unsweetened coco powder still leave my cake bitter or not?? pls help a girl out😭😭
Oh I’m sorry just so the recipe at the bottom of the video 🤦🏻♀️ I’m a beat new in this technology positive about this pandemic is teaching me a lot about all this 😂
Second💝
How would I freeze this if I wished to make it in advance
I like your nice recipe....why didn't u put fresh milk for cake?
I am always worried about opening the oven to turn the cake around for an even bake, incase the cake sinks? How do I make sure it doesn't sink but also get an even bake?
Careful when closing the oven door not to bang it shut and you'll be fine :)
@@GeorgiasCakes Thankyou!! :)
What percentage dark chocolate do you use in your ganache?
Around 70%
Can I swap the butter for sunflower oil?
