The Courageous Cashier God was all over her in this clip!! I watched the full version and you can tell she was all in the zone. The anointing for sure!!! Wooo lawd

Netflix brought me here: What Happened, Miss Simone? She was a Genius. Her LEGACY will LIVE on. When Curtis Institute declined to admit her when she was 19 because of racism, she persevered. Thank you God for the powerful messages and activism that she courageously exemplified during the years✊🏾
Gustavo Ward I always this this version sounds like a totally different song from the original. Her heart, soul, troubles, vulnerabilities were laid bare
This is the call and response that Africans had way prior to "The Church". This is us thousands of years ago being taken to a higher plane, the drums and the tribal call and response. This is our spirituality ...
That kind of vulnerability comes at a price. It's both a gift and curse as it allows one to see and feel more than the average person, but with that comes a tendency to experience great joy but also great pain.
Netflix has a documentary on her called, "What Happened Miss Simone." I didn't really know much about her other than seeing some album covers that my mother had of her when I was growing up. Her story is somewhat sad. Makes me appreciate her and what she went through. I came here to find this video. There's a clip of it in the film. I got tickled when I saw it because she is really feeling the music...so much so that it makes you feel it along with her.
That doccie made me appreciate her more. As someone FROM south Africa who has always been her fan, I completely got a different perspective of her life but this ending got me emotional
She didn't just have a good singing voice, but she also had a charisma that very few people have. You definitely notice this charisma here, and it is breathtaking.
This is from the 1970 TV special "An Historical Perspective", produced by Peter Aristotle Rodis, Emmy nominated, that featuring interviews and rare performances filmed at Westbury Music Fair, The Village Gate and other locations in 1968 and 1969. I think about my father when she talks about having new hands, feet, new vision. He passed in 2007. Diabetes caused the amputation of both legs and they wanted to take one of his hands. He was tired of them cutting on him. 😢. But I know today he’s renewed fully.
I am, like many folks here, watching this on a daily basis. It's insanely powerful.. Nina Simone was just beyond poetic. This version is much powerful than the original recording and lyrics. I can feel her sadness, happiness, and pain.

I saw Nina Simone on concert in Oslo in 1990 or '91. Before or since, I have never seen a better concert by any artist anywhere.
Only Nina Simone and Al Green get the spirit onstage and don't care if the world witnesses it.
This is the call and response that Africans had way prior to "The Church". This is us thousands of years ago being taken to a higher plane, the drums and the tribal call and response. This is our spirituality ...
