II think I figured it out. Lens has different definitions and uses. I think the Fxxx lens number should be used as the common lens size instead of the work area 70mm. 300mm lens should not even be used. It’s a 300mm work are and an f420 lense. I was using Fxxx in the Excel and the work area in the app. Still need to play around with both.

Thanks for talking about the 300 lens. You mentioned to me I need to bump up the power. Do you still need to do this after converting with this program. I have been bumping up the power by 3.
Not super often these days but when we do work with a new material we absolutely update it. It's a fairly complete starter list for people. We're focused more on converting for different specs and CO2 Galvo and UV libraries lately to offer as much as possible.

I have plans to add feature to allow you to combine parts or all of 2 or more parameter files into one. In the meantime, if you open your param file in a text editor such as NotePad, you can copy/paste sections of parameters into a single file. Be sure to grab the entire section that begins with '[PARAM NAME]" all the way down to the start of the next one.
That’s so cool. One question. I now own a Mira 9 100 watt glass tube. Is it bad to run at 100% power? You were talking about running co2 at less than 100. What would be ideal?
Co2 glass tubes don't like being run at the edge, as it tends to burn them out faster. Most people generally recommend running them at around 85% or less of their max rated power if you plan to run them for long jobs. There is also the factor that there is a potentiometer that controls the amperage going through the tube at the given power %, and if that isn't tuned, it could be sending more or less power through the tube than the expected when demanding a specific power %. This is kind of like under volting/over volting a cpu in a computer. Running less current can cause unexpected or lower performance than expected, where running more will cause it to run hotter, push harder, and expend its life faster in some cases, given that the defined lifespan is a tangible thing. Ideal is a shifting value, depends entirely on expectations and what you need the laser to do, what material you're working on, and desired results. I wouldn't suggest running a laser tube at 100% for hours a day, but if you needed to, getting a higher wattage tube and power supply or laser would be a longer term solution to run more within normal power levels to achieve the same peformance. They have a lifespan, so will eventually need replacement, whether its longer term use at normal levels, or shorter term at high levels.

Excuse me Alejandro, I was referring to enrolling in master laser everthing... Will your laser parameters work for a JPT 50w macron? Or are they only for 20 and 30 w?
yes indeed, as he shared you will need to use the parameters offered, and convert them for the machine wattage and lens you intend to use or have. You can convert them up or down to any wattage, the principles of conversion shared will still work and allow you to utilize them for whichever machine you have.
For an RF tube (usually Co2 galvo's are RF tubes) it's less of a concern, but for longevity you can certainly drop the max you're willing to accept down. somewhere in the 80-90% range is a popular starting point for maxing things out. Sorry for the delay, hope it helps!

I installed the program on Win11, but when I start it, it asks for .NET and calls the MS site. I installed both the x64 and x86 versions, but the program still doesn't start, indicating that .NET is missing. Greetings from Austria, Hans

When I convert I’ve seen some conversions which are different than the Excel spreadsheet. Not by much on power but there is a difference.
Small deviations shouldn't make a huge difference. You will have to make small tweaks to 99% of the conversions anyway. Should be ok!
@@LaserEverything I didn’t figure. I think like Pmag Gray was 16% in the app and 20% in excel. Just was bringing it up though for info.

UV probably sooner than ez3... That said there's no timeline that I've heard of for either. Could be a solid wait.

The software uses identical formulas to the spreadsheet so if you've found something that works stick with it here.

That's exactly what this converter is for. Once you download the Param file it can be roughly converted for any wattage/lens combo. :)
Followed all the instructions and downloaded the converter but there is no Setup.exe in the folder when unzipped.

When setting up laser parameter converter with a c02 galvo, should the max power be set below 100%?

Make sure you're getting it from the "Releases" area on the right hand size. You may be downloading the source data instead of the compiled program.
Will it work on a MAC?
The converter is only able to be used on Windows currently.
