- We did a tour through this new landscape and garden being built on Mackinac with Laura @gardenanswer in late August~ The hardscape
is nearly complete and we are now deep into the soft scape design process. Stay Tuned for more updates on this one, and we’ll plan a video in the design studio as we envision this historic gem all planted up! - Jak na to + styl
Maxwell did an amazing job on that wall and brick pavers. Can’t wait to see the plants show case everything!!!
Fellow Floridian here. Hope all is well for you and your family in Naples.
I just love your designs.......they will last for generations!
You had me with the bench in the stacked wall! What a thoughtful design to encourage a scenic view of the lake.
Thanks for the update, Jack. Looking forward to next progress post. What a beautiful pallet, masterfully enhanced.
I love the expansion of the useable spaces in the most natural ways. And as a transplanted Floridian, sigh, the crunchy leaves!
It will really be an exquisite sight to behold. Waiting eagerly for spring!!!
❤ the built in bench, so unique!
Gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the phases until completion!
Stunning as usual, the bench is the icing on the cake Jack😃
Thanks for the update. I’m reminded that these projects take time… and feel less discouraged that my yard still looks like a construction zone. It’s going to be gorgeous!
High admiration and respect for you, on how you can imagine and produce such gorgeous designs and landscaping.

Magical Mackinac! Thank you for the tour!
Beautiful work, Jack!🌟
I can’t wait to see this finished
A lot has changed on this property since September and it has a real nice feel. The entry walkway is both grand and comfortable which seems right for a cottage on Mackinac. Looking forward to seeing more of this project.
WOW WOW WOW!
Looks amazing..Can't wait for more updates on this property..
Nice work as always, Jack! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jack, wow this "cottage" is amazing already! When you said the walls were dry stacked I could not believe it! They're beautiful! I can't even imagine what the end result of this project is going to look like!! However, ......I know you have something up your sleeve! Have an awesome day and I will see you in the next one! :)

Hope you fared well in Naples! Love the hard scrape can’t wait to see the finished project
I love the stacked stone, but that walkway is beautiful, especially at the entrance. Looking forward to the next steps. You’ve got me inspired for two of my gardens next spring!
Loved it. Greetings from Chile.
will look forward to your video's on updates for this house.
I saw the video with Laura. What a difference, beautiful!!! I would live outside all day.
That’s the idea!!
Thanks for the update, Jack. And I see your dry stacked walls have rubbed off on Laura as she's found a way to incorporate them in part of her garden.😃
Wonderful video with Laura, it looks absolutely beautiful now!
Thanks!!
Stunning view!
Oh my word- the things you can see in your head are amazing! It looks BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing the update with us. The stone bench- I'm speechless. I always look forward to your videos and can't wait to see this one with installed landscaping. ♥ I understand why the porch has the light blue ceiling, but it interesting the upper story has a buttercream. Are the installments on the porch ceiling lighting or heating elements?
They are both lighting and heating elements for extended evenings :)
Absolutely gorgeous!
Bravo
Definitely one of my FAVORITE channels! I always can't wait to see what you're up to! Your designs always inspire me! ✨️
Thanks so much!!! I appreciate that!
This one is going to be so incredible. The terracing & layers gives so much presence and I love how you punctuate the boulders within the stacked stone. I can't wait to see plants spilling over and how lovely those stones will be once they start to patina. Great work, Jack!
Thank you for the update on this property. It should look pretty awesome when you all get it finished. How many acres does this property have?
You may need mittens, in the Mitten! ❄️
💙💙💙
awesome
Looking gorgeous!!! Question about the dry stacked walls: does anything go in behind them to help retain the soil? I have a MAJOR issue with erosion on my property and am now having to rebuild one of my Boulder walls for the 3rd time. 😩😩😩
We backfill with a clean drain stone and geotextile fabric with sock pipe drainage pipe when needed to channel water away and prevent water build up behind them….
🍃❤️🍃
How do you haul all that stuff, horses ?
Yes- all material hauled to the site from the docks by horse~~

Question for you: do the light blue ceilings of the verandas actually work, ie. do they deter birds and insects from building nests and cobwebs?
It doesn’t help-here in SC.
@@dottiebruce9555 I second that emotion 😊
@@dottiebruce9555 Thank you for sharing your input! We won't go with blue ceilings for our renovations!
@@dottiebruce9555 Thank you so much! I've been pondering changing our ceiling color since the first time I've heard Jack mention this. We won't bother! Lol
Jack I’ve been so enjoying your Mackinaw tours Not been on the island since 1957 Things have changed do to your effort and talents Thanks for all the education about the history of this area and also thanks for your wonderful cooking demonstration best regards Lindyzing
