Hey JT, just wanted to say thank you so much for transitioning to socialist content, your american pandemic response video started my (and in turn my dad's) radicalization process. Love your content!
My radicalizion was born from the hatred in the South. I was a raised by a White Supremiscist who forced me to dress in Confederate regalia and participate in Civil War reenactments. He preached states rights, regularly used the n-word, and threatened to punish me if I ever voted Democrat. My parents voted for Trump, are Anti vaxxers, and heavily Christian. I had to move out to Deprogram myself, and have struggled my whole life because of the realization that everything they believe and taught me was a lie.
I'm in much the same boat. I'm in Indiana, the South of the North, and was raised very Christian with a dad who was very loudly Republican (recently Trump, anti-vax, etc) and a mom who was not very loud about her beliefs. As I hit my teenage years and especially after I turned 18 I started seeing that everything I'd been taught was wrong. I started forming my own opinions and then when I moved out, I could actually act on them. I didn't get to vote in 2008, but I would have voted for Obama, and my dad was aware of that. Since then when I share even vaguely left-leaning things on Facebook or call him out on his bullshit, I hear all about how I'm a commie. What?! The South of the States? I thought at first you meant South America where some nazis fled to. The more I learn of the States, the more cartoonish it becomes.
Growing up in Haiti and thinking that my country was just behind in development and the politicians are just terrible. To growing up and moving to the US, and only a decade later learning about the active forces working against the sovereignty and prosperity of the country was a crazy awakening. In high school I had a friend who felt the same way but thought if he became the dictator of Haiti he could fix everything. My sensibilities always pushed me towards democracy even though I couldn't explain it so I always thought he was being an idiot because that never worked. As a joke I got him a copy of Communist Manifesto without even reading it. It saddens me to see people think becoming a rational, compassionate, and community minded human being as "being radicalized". It is just finally getting in touch with human nature. Getting in touch with physical nature again, respecting the land, water, and honoring the life of everything you eat (not thanking some random fake god), isn't radical either. It's just going back to the old way before exploitation.
I was thinking about this exact thing the other day, how the term "radical" has become something negative and it's used as a term to shame people who want to change the status quo. We should think of the word "radical" in a different way, it merely means that we want to be who we are as human beings. We want to go back to our natural habitat and thrive in it. The term radical should not be thought of as being part of this niche, violent group that is set off from the rest of society, in fact radicalism IS, in my opinion, the default option of many human beings. I think we are all "radicals" at heart. It's what we all want for ourselves and the rich have used that term against us for wanting a better life, making socialists out to be a smaller movement than they really are, trying to make them seem like this minority group of people. I believe that we are all socialists, including the rich. They just don't realise it yet because they have relied so heavily on their power for all these years, so they don't know any different. They search for short-term gratification, which means they do not know how to TRULY feel satisfied in themselves. Overtime, this mentality has trickled down into the working class. I hope that, in time, we can all learn to love ourselves and each other more, learn to engage in daily introspection and love to be in nature. Love to be bored. Learn to nurture every moment spent with our loved ones. That is what being a socialist means to me. THAT is the world i am fighting for. Peace and love to you all Gay people, black people, trans people, straight people, white people. We are all human beings, we are all one in the same and we stand in this human race as a unified species. Don't let them divide us. Money won't make you happy, only YOU can make you happy. Well, isn't that interesting? JT lives in the DFW area. I've been contemplating a move there. How is DFW for someone critical of capitalism? There could be a spin-off series: "Dirty Commie in Texas."
whoop I know this is a few months old but I'll answer anyway: in my experience, it's okay as long as you're in a city with a university and you're working a job that people with money would deem as "below them," which I imagine isn't too dissimilar to the rest of the country. people want change but it's pretty difficult to be vocal about it here (and most of Texas/the rest of the south tbh) due to its particularly nasty relationship with white supremacist Christianity.
Thank you guys for this type of content and your guy's perspective. A thousand times yes! Great first episode, keep up the good work
Glad these are on youtube now, time to binge watch these.
HOLY SHIT DIDNT EXPECT THIS im so excited
Best Podcast on the left! I’ve learned so much from each of you. I enjoy how you each have your own style of delivery.
Oh man, you guys are so sweet. Thank you for making what is already my favorite radical left show. Many cheers from Brazil
All caught up on Spotify:) thank you for doing it on CZcams too!! Good luck comrades!
I could hear all your voices and go to sleep.... it is so calming :)
Starting of with a lot of episodes is really professional good job fellas
Aloha and love to you Comrades!
Yes. From the first 10 seconds I knew this series was for me.
Commenting to boost the video in the algorithm. Too tired to think of something to comment, but I wanted to support you guys 🖤
Came all the way back to this one and it's kinda funny how all of them were still using video essay voices here compared to the later episodes. Great listen, love how far y'all have come.
Amazing first video guys. Definitely look forward for the amazing content to come. 👍
I like the animation loop
Similar to JT, Bernie was the match that lit my curiosity. Thanks to him, I began delving into political and economic theory. Similar to Yugopnik, I knew the whole thing was rotten after working my first job. Now, I'm a budding socialist with dreams of burning it all down. Thank you guys for the content and I look forward to supporting and learning more.
The donkey kong amiibo in the background lmao
Goddamn this art is awesome.
Excelent talk, and it's great you uploaded to yt, for those users like me that doesn't like to pay to trash apps like spotify. I'm hearing you from México.
anyone else rewatching this finding jts script voice really funny? like it sounds super great and professional in his videos but you get used to the sillier tone of the podcast and its kinda amusing, love yall
I know im late but id like to thank you JT in specific because I was just in the summer going to 6th when I started watching your videos and due to my young age and not really being very programmed compared to someone whos been programmed for like 20 years my radicalization process took like 1month thank you.
Thank you
2 of the people that radicalized me in one place, cheers lol
Love this gone watch rest of it
It’s heartwarming to hear people from the other side of the world being critical of the U.S. but still meaning well. This is what I needed to hear. Thank you.
SKULL YEAH BROTHERS!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Cant wait to binge these!
Sometimes it's difficult to understand because English is my second language. Thank you for effort.
My radicalization was pure curiosity for this one 'o so obviously flawed' ideology that everyone just laughed away, even though the core idea was not that bad.
I absolutely relate to Hakim, Yugopnik is just hot af
Amazing first issue!
Beautiful!
As a Greek, I'm really interested in this podcast. I grew up in a leftist family, but not commie-level left. Greece also has a, frankly, ridiculous communist party. The things they spout sound more divorced from reality than eternal growth even.
I'm really curious to hear more of your views.
Well, isn't that interesting? JT lives in the DFW area. I've been contemplating a move there. How is DFW for someone critical of capitalism?
There could be a spin-off series: "Dirty Commie in Texas."
Eh
I'm on Galveston Island, near Texas.
whoop I know this is a few months old but I'll answer anyway:
in my experience, it's okay as long as you're in a city with a university and you're working a job that people with money would deem as "below them," which I imagine isn't too dissimilar to the rest of the country. people want change but it's pretty difficult to be vocal about it here (and most of Texas/the rest of the south tbh) due to its particularly nasty relationship with white supremacist Christianity.
Thank you guys for this type of content and your guy's perspective. I am a college student and my radicalization process began with me reading into the atrocities my country has committed in the name of privatization. Happy to say I am learning more and want to stay on the right side of history! Workers unite!
Thanks Habibies 🤗🤗🤗
Fuck yes, I've been wanting this on youtube ever since it was announced
For Hakim's proposal in the intro, i wanna see 6969 likes for this video asap.
JT Gamer time? 😳
Nice shoutout from Europe, got a glimse in one of your later videos, and start listening into the whole thing.
I would love to bring you some german perspektive to the table.
100% if it wasn’t for second thought I wouldn’t be as far left as I am now today
well as Bangladeshi it saddens to say that we get paid in cents but we don't even have a choice. that's literally the only way foreign currency comes to our country... and maybe migrants who are sending remittance back to home
I used to say that I'm from soviet Canuckistan (canada) as a joke... now it's kind of a hope. If I didn't need years of debt and schooling I may have even been interested in joining the CPC.
Why am I just learning about this podcast? I’m on CZcams daily and I subscribe to second thought.
Hello from Denton, JT. Cool to hear from a local. I'm a big fan!
Howdy, neighbor! I’ve spent a lot of time in the Denton Camera Exchange and Recycled Books. Very cool place.
