    Thanks man! Just got selected and I have a little under 6 weeks to really get in shape so I’m working out everyday except Sundays (although idk if I can afford to have rest days). I been running a lot, and trying to run on inclines as much as I can! I got selected for SNA! My biggest thing is my pushups. Right now, I am BARELY making bare minimum for my age (will be 27 at OCS)

      @@HeyBigChriss congratulations. Take ur time and there a few techniques I’d recommend. 1. Is called the doorframe- every time you walk in a door frame stop and do 5push ups. Simple and it will build muscle endurance and stamina. Or 2. The 100 rep challenge. You have to complete 100’pushups each day. How ever you break them down. Just complete 100 each day (the goal is to do max effort and full range of motion) keep a daily journal to track ur progress

    Leaving for OCS in a week, it just occured to me I'm leaving my care free post undergrad life to willingly go get yelled at and beat in the cold on the other side of the country for 3 months. Oh boy can't wait 😮‍💨

    Aspirant OCS trainee here. Been able to get my low plank game to 3:00 over the course of a month. Ive been wondering though which form of plank (High, low, or both) they test you on during IRT.

    • @evanjohnson4133
      @evanjohnson4133  Před rokem +1

      High plank is (push up position) the navy PRT calls for low plank

    Hello Sir! Thanks for this video! I know there are a couple of variations on burpees out there so just wanted to make sure - the version expected at OCS includes a push up, not going all the way down to the ground on your belly? Thanks!

    • @evanjohnson4133
      @evanjohnson4133  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Depends on the drill instructor or recruit division commander you have. We did both chest to deck and then strict pushups. I’d suggest doing the harder ones to get ur mental and physically stronger for OCS

    Good afternoon sir,
    I was watching your stuff and have a few questions about switching to Officer Reserve.
    I’m an Enlisted Reservist since you were prior enlisted did you have to redo all of the shots you previously received ( such as the peanut butter shot)?
    My current PRT mile and 1/2 was 8:31, plank 3:06 and push-up 58.
    Did you have to retake the swim qualification since you were already a class 3 swimmer?
    I’m 26 I have a degree already and I’m a new reservist so my goal is to get adjusted to the Navy Lifestyle and leadership style before I apply for OCS that way I can be an effective leader. Since you’re prior enlisted when you went to OCS was there a big age gap between you and the rest?

      Great question and interesting question. No, along as you have all your up to date medical- you are all good. When you speak to a recruiter, they will scrub your entire service record. Are you tying to be a naval officer on the active duty or reserve side? What designation are you apply for?

  • @nuavecmoi

      No girls are allowed in, only women. There are different types of core and upper body you can do to build up to doing at least the minimum for what you need and more

    How many miles do you run for pt during OCS? and how many times a week is running involved in pt?

    • @evanjohnson4133
      @evanjohnson4133  Před 11 měsíci

      Great question. You do hiit, but 1.5 mile is the average you run as a formation. I believe the max we did was 2.5 in one session

    The times have changed in 65 years. My OCS class of about 700 in 1956 had only one Black candidate. I wonder how many Blacks are in the OCS class nowadays.

      My Navy OCS class 50, Newport, Rhode Island, was in 1960. There were 621 OC's -- one black man, one with a Chinese name, and one with a Japanese name. All the rest were, how shall I put it?, melanin deprived.
