  • This is a thought/skill exercise that eliminates aids such as fullers and monkey tools and forces the smith to focus on accurate double sided shoulders, single sided shoulders and cross peen work. Starting stock is 5/8 square.

No power hammer, no press, just fire, hammer, and anvil. Nicely done.

Exactly. Having a very basic setup myself, this is the kind of teaching I treasure. Instant subscribe.

Gol' dang Nick just seeing you hammer out this small integral makes me realize what a wizard you are with a hammer, anvil, and steel. I don't know why I haven't seen you forge before but I know I've heard your name brought up by dozens of makers and now I am gonna have to binge watch your various or videos you are in to see if I can pick up a few tricks, tips, and skills.

Great job... I am a wannabe Blacksmith who also wants to be a bladesmith... I saw your post on the Maritime Blacksmiths group. I subbed and liked. You got great smithing skills, I'd say you have been doing this for a good while. Thanks for showing your project.... Be well...

Hey Joe. It was 3/4 stock and I’m pretty sure it was 2.5”.

@@nicholasrossi3656 Thanks man. It didn’t look that long and you had a lot more meat left on the tang and the bolster than I would’ve left. I have a bunch of the old secret sauce W-2 including some three-quarter round bar And I’m trying to figure out how to get a three knife integral kitchen set out of each foot long bar.

This isn't a lesson. If you're not talking, you're not teaching.
