- For the record. Since no one else did this, i am showcasing all the weapons from an Xbox 360 exclusive launch title called Perfect Dark Zero. Inspect animations included. This game was developed by Rare. Secondary fire mode included for weapons that have a secondary fire mode. Dual wield weapons at the end of the video. Also that P90 transparent magazine must have been a first!
This game borrows many sounds from other games. Including the AKM sound that i've heard before. Just a few gun sounds that i've recognized are from games such as Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike CZ, Call of Duty and Halo Combat Evolved.
Perfect Dark Zero released on November 22, 2005. A time when many graphics technologies were new. The game makes heavy use of parallax mapping, specular, ambient occlusion, subsurface scattering and high dynamic range. For those days, Perfect Dark Zero had some nice sharp textures!

The wall charge at 8:44 looks so similar to Duke Nuke Forever 2001 : czcams.com/video/TGOtQtTyP8g/video.html
They were both inspired by Pipe Mania.
Lighting effects on gun surfaces look ridiculously good for 2005. Art designers must have spent an unreasonable amount of time polishing the effects for them to look so good ‘till this day.
God I wish these games were on PC.
that's what I thought
Its awesome to see people finally apreciating this game! Great showcase!!
Holy shit the p90 mag is transparent and actually depletes the ammo. That's fuckin insane for 2005, hell most games still don't do that.
Edit: omg the m60 reload where she subtley moves the bullets in place on the feed tray. That's crazy man
MW2 2009 also did that
They had to redeem themselves after making the original RCP90's magazine a solid white block that takes up the entire upper half of the gun's model in 1997.
Been looking for a PDZ weapon showcase video for YEARS.
Some weapons have 3rd functions, like at 4:42 If you hold down the right bumper and then hit the left trigger you can equip the FAC-16 with a suppressor.
I know you.
0:46: ok, that's a very creative way of using spent mags 😏.
02:38 oh my gaw look at the P90's magazine... this is the game in 2005?
I am so glad that this game hasn't been forgotten!
a lot of these sounds ARE from perfect dark N64. It's exactly the same sound bite actually.
yea i noticed for superdragon
This game is underrated and overhated, don't get me wrong though, it's no master piece, but damn it was actually lots of fun to play, people just dismissed it because it has basically nothing to do with the OG Perfect Dark aside from the name and Halo 2 had not released that long ago back then.
Perfect Dark Zero plays more like a mix between Halo and Classic Counter Strike than Perfect Dark, so it is widely different, but damn was it fun.
I rather say overheated.
I like how the Magsec (Beretta 93R) has a reload similar to the original Perfect Dark pistol reload animation. nice little throwback.
Underrated gem.
I can't believe we're 3 years ahead of the year this game is set in.
And we're now living in the year the N64 game is set in... I want my flying taxis, laptop guns and wrist-mounted lasers. :(
i want the Maian aliens flying around giggling & laughing XD
@@luissalazar3811 With their Yoda-ass voices. =P
@@RoseSupreme xddd
These games were ahead of their time in more ways than one.
@@Nick-s-f Yep.
I think i found the most underrated game ever now.
Was this game really made in 2005? Amazing.
I mean half life 2 is made in 2004 and it still looks pretty good
@@commanderpeanut8029
Oh my god, Half-Life 2 is so awesome that I'm still playing it in 2022.
Bruh ppl even play HL1 WON these days. Something lovely about those old graphics.
Yes it was made in 2005. Thats why it looks ass.
@@LongNguyen-qg8yj It still holds up fairly well graphically for a 2005 game. Learn to appreciate the smaller details rather than just deciding on first glance
This game was ahead of its time. A new PD is in development, you can an actual trailer on CZcams.
Abso-fraking-lutely enjoyed watching this weapons showcase of Perfect Dark Zero
The FAC-16 Colt with underbarrel Grenade Launcher is, By Far, my Most Absolute favorite
Love your videos!
The MP5 Mag in and out sounds are similar to the M1911 from Black Ops 1 or is it just me?
@@zer0synd1cateit's not generic tho
I’ve heard it in other games as well, it’s the pistol reload in Timesplitters 3 as well.
The silenced pistol sound is the same one from goldeneye among other games
I remember this game. I still vastly prefer the original Perfect Dark, but not for nostalgic reasons.
I gotta say though, PDZ's weapon design was actually pretty cool. Some weapons (like the FAC-16) even had tertiary (a third) mode, where it would even add a suppressor. It's a very clever way to diversify a weapon sandbox, a lot like how Halo does. Although, a lot of them were gimmicky, I like to think that a modern adaptation of the game would see most of these modes reworked or remade into something a bit more practical.
Mag had the best sound of all guns.
The gun designs actually look great for 2005, the sound effects are good too, many being directly updated versions of the original PD sound effects
Ooh! That G36 Superdragon looks sexy! 🔥
And I love the FAC 16 reload animation, looks and sounds really good. ❤
Wow. I love the reloading effects. How some of the guns still make the same sound same name and same secondary function
the multiplayer was really fun, the secondary functions of guns and the ability to roll gave the game a nice flow, so sad it wasnt more popular
old games were so detailed compared to now
Only a few, not all of them.
Ok I really like that Spas 12 reload and sounds
0:10 2:11 dat CoD BO m1911 reload sound
Lol indeed! What an old ass sound
@@redpill7238it might be old ass, but it's still a legendary sound
I think the DY357 python is the Ruger Blackhawk irl
I wish guns in video games wouldn't continually click when empty. Most guns are striker fired and most rifles don't have double strike capabilities. What does this mean? It means when you pull the trigger on empty, the gun attempts to fire and drops the firing mechanism. It does not recock however. It doesn't continually click. You have to cock the gun again for it to click.
Hello! could you do a weapon showcase of Gene Troopers?
Unpopular opinion
Joanna hand in this game is slay😍
You do know that slay means killing demons in DooM, right? RIGHT?
Did you made a showcase of the first perfect zero?
Nostalgia let’s go!
I like how the AK is called the KSI
I like how the FAMAS is a plasma weapon, and therefore doesn't have an actual chamber, but still has a charging handle.
It has a lot of small odd details for a 2005 video game
I never understood why the Plasma Rifle had an in-game rating of 1 Star lol
Probably because of the rate of fire
@@Reshigekko yeah, but it's a one shot without armor and a 2 shot with armor, it's insane.
It was literally the strongest gun in the game, I always used it in the campaign and it went from an actually difficult mission to a walk in the park
@@soupfan1 Yeah, it was so much fun to use too and looks really good, definitely one of my favorite guns in the game.
If you told me this was cut valorant content I wouldn’t have batted an eye it looks so good.
Thanks for the demonstration
Other guns without the suppressor sounded really modernized, while with suppressor sounded like it's from the 90s or from a cliche Spy movie.
they probably did it on purpose
Xd
It is quite literally the suppressor sound used for the Goldeneye 64 PP7 Silenced/Silenced D5K/Sniper Rifle. Also the sound for the Sniper Rifle in Perfect Dark 64 (the Falcon Silenced used a lower pitch version)
It's not cliché, it's traditional.
Insane technical showcase for a launch title, plus the guns are all awesome and animated with so much care. I like the fact that you actually need to stop pulling the trigger so the character can reload the gun.
Yeah this game is a gem in comparison to all the garbage games released these days. If games are so much better than this where are they? I've been playing Valorant but the guns in Valorant are boring as hell in comparison. Valorant is a counter strike copy with very little creativity put into it. I just stopped by here to see what a game with actual effort put in looks like because If I make a game, I'll take inspiration from this and not the trash put out today.
@@GuestUser-jf8uj to tell you the truth, many people felt that PDZ wasn't as good as the original. However, you can clearly see that some effort was put into it. I'd play PDZ over any other today's FPSs anytime.
@@LoStraniero91 I think the people that say PDZ was a bad game just simply don't know what they're talking about. Yeah they might be comparing it to the N64 version which is pretty unfair. I remember PDZ online during the launch period was an experience of its own. Playing the game modes like infection with 30-40 people, and 16 vs 16 Eradication. That was fun as hell and I haven't played anything like that since. It looks like trash now, but back then it was pretty damn good.
@@GuestUser-jf8ujsome new games aren't trash tho
i recognize half of these sounds from other games
Game was nothing more than eye candy and so was Joanna Dark so f'ing hot. I really liked her redesign.
Are extra-shiny guns normal for the game or this is because of emulation?
Regardless, those are some interesting guns. Wonder how TMP and laptop are supposed to work. Didn`t expect to see AK with stake launcher, I think only other time I saw underbarrel SL was in Blade (2?). What is M60 secondary fire? It looks like some sort of explosive, but I`m not sure. Also wth is jackal`s secondary fire, it`s so loud. What is the flicking motion PC does before cocking the hammer of a magnum supposed to be?
arcade games
y'all should stop taking animations seriously in arcade fps shooters
because they're never meant to realistic
@@spazjackrabbit61 (impossible)
The M60 shoots a caltrop
It’s normal, from memory.
They still got classic sound effects
Good 'ol classic effects.
Weapons have a very nice specular maps. What is year is it ?
2005-2006
Late 2005, released on November 22nd.
@@M0D776 Thanks
Perfect dark reboot Come soon
Does anybody know haw can I play this on windows?
it surprises me how loads of games dont even come close to this level of animation even today in 2022
and i can hear alot of sound effects from halo ce reused in this game like how sounds from ONI 2001 were recycled for halo ce I often wonder if the sound department for most gaming companies were on a low or simliar level budget to have such simliar sounds or if by chance they all happen to use the same sounds from real life objects
Isnt these p99 sounds used in stalker?
"."
Yes, but essentially that specific sound is common in games since it's a stock sound effect you can find in libraries
1:28 dangerous when watch in the public without headphones
Am I the only one still playing Perfect Dark, and Perfect Dark Zero?
The FAC-16 real name the XM177E2.
I don't know why Falcon doesn't have silencer like n64 version
those goddamn stock weapon sounds
bean munching
I guess all their budget went into the graphics. It clearly shows.
You can hear Goldeneye, Halo, and even HL2, in the weapon/explosion sounds.
To me it's a plus, it's funny to me to hear a sound and try to count all the places I've heard it.
They are pretty good tho
I like this stereotypical "female style."
I mean even No One Lives Forever didn't have animations like this
The animations really do fit Joanna.
1:20 cod sound
The revolver always pissed me off. They're double action for God's sake, and she's cocking the hammers back like a cowboy gun, and in the slowest and dumbest way possible.
too bad I didn't have xbox so I didn't get to play it, only the perfect dark from 2000.
jackal is awp but modified
1:10 MagSec 4 ❤❤❤ F*cking Robocob Gun❤
This doesn’t look like day z stand-alone. Do that game next
This game made me a man... In more ways than one xD
This game is underrated AF. But why are you shooting the sky? Kinda weird bruh
The guns are actually pretty excellent for the time, considering how this was a few years before Far Cry 2 and COD 4.
The sounds are obviously from some random library someone had lying around, but the animations are actually quite good for the most part
Initially I was impressed, and then I began to see how they F'ed up these guns. The Beretta 93R should have a 3-round burst mode. That is what it is known for. The Colt Python is a double-action revolver, meaning that you don't have to cock it for every shot. The Spas 12 can fire in semi-automatic.
Nobody gave a shit about gun stuff back in 2005 like we do now. It's a product of its time.
🤓
TBF most games don't do both fire modes for the SPAS, probably because of Half Life.
It's a classic arcade shooter done in the same spirit as Goldeneye 64 but for the 360 in 2005. Don't look into it like this, specially since it doesn't try to be realistic in the first place.

Kind of sad so many of the guns are just modern day stuff most of the originals guns were crazy unique designs
WHY ARE THE GUNS WRONG
I dont know man, 2005. I dont really know, its not clear why, my brain does not process why.
@@silvergaming3953 im a firearms expert
@@ckabtakamilitaryman3332 oh
@@ckabtakamilitaryman3332 are you being sarcastic? This is an arcade shooter to begin with, never focused on realism...
@@ckabtakamilitaryman3332 are we just going to ignore the fact these are supposed to be futuristic weapons? Like, the Mag Sec has bullets that ricochet a lot, you can throw the Falcon mag and it will periodically shoot bullets, you have a stake-launching AK-Thingy, a TMP with a Hologram creator, a Famas that shoots plasma, and I could go on and on, it's like judging Wolfenstein for historical inaccuracy because Nazis didn't win WW2.
How about you go and judge a game that actually tried to market itself as realistic, like CoD Vanguard, Battlefield 2042 or other games, idk.
Other animations looks like cs source
The clouds and the sky itself are just static ( google images ) just not realistic compared to cod 4: modern warfare.
Terrible gun sounds. But cool graphics and good animatioms for a 2005 game. This is more like a tech demo showcasing Xbox 360 horsepower.
They're stock sounds.
When a 360 launch title has more attention to detail than the last three Call of Duty games.
That one CoD game who puts a lot of details:huh
Shame not in better game
It's such a shame that the new Perfect Dark game is probably going to suck. I mean, the story went from "it's 2020 and corporations own everything" (CORRECT), to "it's the future and the anthropogenic climate change is killing the planet." The story went from something realistic to something completely made up by the powers that be that work with the massive corporations that are actually polluting the planet. Judging from the physical appearance of the writer, it doesn't surprise me. I mean the protagonist went from having a very stylish punk haircut to having bright-pink feminazi hair. Oh, and I'm sure that the aliens will be introduced somehow because it seems to be the next big psyop. GG.
Sorry, can´t find these weapons showcase better than the original Perfect Dark, looks very ugly btw
Loved this game back in the day,
Only disappointment was the “infection game mode that was on the demo, but never made it to the base game🥹
Goooooood times😂
Wait what do you mean Infection was not on the base game??? I played that mode religiously back in the day and I'm pretty sure I had the full game.
Gay
Kept half the sounds from the original game..but made the game suck.
No wonder why that didn't happen in MW2 2009. MW2 2009 still uses the same sounds from MW 2007 and it's still looking cool.
