Cager I realy realy like your test ride videos and I've also recommended your videos to all of my friends keep up what you're doing man cause you are doing absolutely awesome!!!
Thanks for the great review, I appreciate you tested the tricity out on varying surfaces, especially the tram tracks which can be a bother in some Australian cities.
Thank you for your test ride. I had fun while you commented all your efforts in finding out all pros and cons of this machine. In my family there is a big discussion on the tricity. The kids think it's very modern, my wife thinks it's ugly and I'm perplexed although I'm starting to see all the hiddden values of such a kind of bike. The only changes I would introduce apart from a slightly more powerful motor, are the ABS for a better breaking possibility and a 12 V for recharging cells/tablets/PCs...
Hi very nice review thanks ! I'm planning to buy a 3wheels scooter, i don't feel safe when it rains etc on 2. At first I wanted a MP3 but it's waaay too big, then i discovered the Yourban 300 but it seems quit large also. Now that i know the Tricity 125 ABS i think it's the best possible thing to buy for the city, and your video confirms that. But do you know if it's possible to "power" it up a bit ? I used to change my exhaust on my first 50cc when i was younger, do you know if there are some possibilities like this on this Tricity ? Thanks !
Nice concept for City Commuting in heavy traffic. I would like to know if one can stop at traffic lights and not have to put any feet down - is it stable enough. to not 'tilt' over (or can one 'feel' this happening and counteract with leaning to correct? I am also wondering if anyone will develop an 'Electric Trike' with the same 2 front wheels! Having spent time living and working in China, electric 'scooters' are very popular in the Cities, and relatively inexpensive. A brushless electric hub motor in the rear wheel would be very compact and leave a lot of room for batteries and not having muffler and auto transmission to the sides, would make it potentially 'slimmer' for lane splitting and getting through 'gaps' between cars.
Your review spot on. So i bought the 125 ABS model. Perfect for old gurls like me. Top box added & oddles of space for shopping. 6000 km later & my smile stillwide. Thanks to you I remain independent of public transport. Ta heaps young man.
Hi Cager, thanks for this review. I am just wondering since I am very interested with this scooter. Will I be able to ride this one? I don't have any experience with riding a bike or even a motorcycle or even balance myself up since I had a fear on it when I was a kid. I was curious because this one has 3 wheels and it made me want to finally own and ride one if that is the case.
could you tell us how it handles when it hits even pavement.one wheel on a higher elevation than the other.Does it tend to self steer when hitting the lip of the road.
Your review on the Tricity helped me a lot in the decision to buy one and it has been a great ride for my daily commute for 12,000k. There is a new 155cc model coming out soon please review it if you can. looks like it addresses the 3 down sides of the original, the power, the seat and the foot room. I would like to hear your comparison of the 2 models.
Falow...
Thank you Cager! I have missed your test rides. There is a question I have never asked you (sorry, no links with this video...): Do you prefer Sporting or Benfica??? :) p.s: Congratulations for the KTM 125!
I bought one, because i`d destroy my cars enging on the daily 5km trip on twisty, steep roads, it doesn`t even get lukewarm. I wanted something cheap and cheap to run that a could use almost every day of the year. There are a couple of days, where it snows heavily, then i use the car, but the rest of the time i can use the tricity. it dousn`t matter if it is wet, if the street is terrible, dirty,... it simply transports you to where you want to go, very safely, rather slow but still enjoyable.
hey man do you have to put your feet on the ground when in fully stop like red lightsm, how long this thing drive can I drive this 3 hours straight without overheating?
I have a Gilera Fuoco 500 ie and I simply don't worry about rain/gravel/turn/gap/bumps and had the power to go on the highway at 89mph. It's very fun. Plus it has the suspension lock so I don't have to put my feet down waiting for the light. Besides the look, it's really a fun one. Now if I can just paint my red one to black then I will be happy with my batmobile.
Nice to see some bike review. Remind me, what kind of camera do you use, is it a gopro or something else? Somehow the audio deteriorated towards the end of the video. Thanks for sharing.
The Yamaha Tricity rides extremely stable & the brakes are excellent! The only two downsides are: a very large helmet doesn’t fit underneath the seat and the top speed is around 90km/h depending on your weight.
In the UK the tricycles make a lot of sense as some of them can be ridden on just a car licence although not all of them. The problem is the Piaggio and Gilera LT's cost almost as much as my car. As a completely new rider I'm very tempted by the stability but this is £1000 more than the Honda PCX I was planning on getting, hmm decisions, decisions.
Cager, does anybody ever told you that you sound just like Groo from Despicable Me xD???? Sorry my friend, i had to say that, love your videos!!! Saudações do Brasil!
i rode it few times with my gf and dog and it is amazing. extremely safe - like riding on tracks, very comfortable and spacious. i am now selling my mt07 and buying this one
May I ask what microphone setup you are using and how you manage to record your voice clear with little to no wind noise and still some ambience sound? Thanks
i don't know about there but where i live it's a big deal because u can drive those with a car licence here and u don't have to go and get a bike license plus one can argue that it's way safer than a similar scooter.
Interesting.I can see the utility of it in it's intended environment and I can see the appeal to it's intended market segment but like you I can't see buying it for myself.I come from a two wheeled background. It is what I know and what I prefer. But this could be nice for some users.
hi cager, I m about to pass my car driving license so I ll be able to drive scooter 125cc max. Between the gts125 and the yamaha tricity, which one do you advise? Under rain is the gts125 really bad, not stable? coz it s raining often here. thanks for your advice!
If you´re still interested, i´ve got a gts125 and i really like it. But i´m going to buy now a tricity. If you´re looking for safety go for a trike. I´ve tried this one on rough roads and Yamaha made a really good job. No slide at all. But if you want to "feel the road" stick to a 2 wheels motorcycle. Gts125 is a good option but change the tyres if you have plenty of rainy days.
Cager, can you please make a review of bmw k1600 gt/gtl? Cuz I want to buy a tourer, but I can't choose between Kawa and BMW. And ya, hello from Ukraine! :D
Wow! This makes me almost wish I still lived in the city. Nope, I'm over it now. This looks pretty cool. Too much highway riding for me so I'll stick with my Majesty for now. Still, long gravel road to my new house so maybe I should look at the Honda NC700x or CB500x. Watching your CB500x review right now. "Real" adventure bikes are too tall for little me.
How much does this cost in Europe? It's sounds like a good idea for cheap three wheels bikes to come over to the U.S since the only big brand three wheel scooter is the Piagglo. Otherwise as a city scooter it's perfect for rainy days states and horrible roads plus it's a 125 so it should have good MPGs.
A larger,250 cc ,with ABS,a button to lock the bike on stopping,a little streamlining and there you go.Streamlining adds so much range and saves $$$$$$
more surface area is a good thing, more rubber[bigger contact patch] and more braking[more braking surface area],it should have ABS for super short and safe stops.Love it
I had a Piaggio MP3 and, it's all you have said and been susprised abaout. Bad things: It's almost impossible to avoid potholes. Those 3 wheels require a very large strip of good ground to pass, so at least on wheel will hit the pothole/bump. If they had put the two front wheels close to each other, this problem would go away (and maybe the «bad« looks). Another problem is when you try to get close to the sidewalk, now you have a whell that's not in the center of the bike. I almost fall several times because of this. And it was because of these two reasons that I returned to 2 wheels. But, man.. I miss that front grip.
Podias fazer uma review da dtr 125? E uma moto que estou pensar "oferecer-me" para o natal mas nao encontro reviews na net. Se conseguisses era fixe se fosse de uma supermotard :D
I'm not a big fan of scooters (they're simply not a big thing in the states), but that thing is seriously awesome. Aesthetically it's pretty bad, but that functionality in traffic is pretty awesome. I really don't get how it works so well though w/o any kind of activate stabilization!
CagerOnTwoWheels Your review, has helped me make an important decision. In a few month's I intend to get my self a Tricity. Thanks for your helpful review. Keep up the good work friend(hat tip).

Hello, I've been debating to purchase one of these or a MP3 - As I've recently lost confidence after crashing my Suzuki Marauder. I'm a short guy 5 foot 2 to be exact, how high this bike? Will I be able to reach the ground with ease?
You should google GM's Lean Machine. It was designed in the 70's by an american engineer named Frank J. Winchell. He designed it to improve the wastefulness of the automobile. It achieved 200 miles per gallon.
Too many motorcyclist's are afraid to endorse safety, new technology etc,as if someones going to take there Harley away from them.Love it or hate it,this is a plus for the motorcycle industry. It may not be for everyone, but it will put a lot of new riders on the road, that's for sure.I wonder if Yamaha has included the American market, after Piaggio's bust with its MP3,the Piaggio was expensive ,lacked the quality Yamaha is know for,American's said, its to expensive, plain and simple.Do you agree?
I thought it was going to be an Electric bike! "(elec)Tricity" Disappointed! Still, very thorough work, but I'm not buying one!! I like NOT ignoring the floor!!
The nice thing about those ugly monsters is that, having 3 wheels, you can ride them with only a car license, no matter how powerful they are. Thats why i think a 125 its a little stupid, for 125, please, a normal one. But i you dont have time for obtaining the bike license but still want something faster than a 125, a 400 tri-scooter is a good idea, i guess. Still, i dont like them.
I am pretty sure the Tricity needs an automatic motorcycle licence - it's not the same as a Piaggio MP3 LT because the spacing between the front wheels isn't wide enough. Seems like Yamaha deliberately did NOT want car drivers riding this without training.

It seems nothing more than a cheap clone/imitation of the Piaggio Mp3 (the inventor of this kind of scooters). No Abs, no traction control, no suspension lock, ridiculous space under the seat, etc. etc... For the city I would prefer Piaggio www.uk.piaggio.com/piaggio/UK/en/news/MP3.html#main (ok, it costs more than the Tricity)

Thanks for the great review, I appreciate you tested the tricity out on varying surfaces, especially the tram tracks which can be a bother in some Australian cities.
The best comprehensive review so far.
Excellent job mate.
I am looking forward for your other videos.
incredible review! I just ordered mine with abs.
Thank you mate..
"Oh, I'm going there!"

Excellent review. You are the only one who mentioned that this scooter will fall without using the stand.

CagerOnTwoWheels thanks
Dude, please review the Gilera Fuoco, I would really love to hear your opinions on it. Nice video anyways. ;)
Where r u from caber which country
Why are they trying to market it as beginner bikes? I just see that as more variety.

Very useful in an urban setting it looks like. Handles well. I think it's odd that it's 3-wheel'd but will still drop.
Can you ring it on cbt

I remember drawing pictures as a young guy with this concept front AND rear. Bring it on!
You drew a ........car?
@@rage8kage I drew a quad. It even had a 3 cylinder semi orbital engine with 60 degree V's and a cross plane crank. I was bored.
Here's an interesting question for you. Since there are two wheels at the front, does countersteering still apply? All the best from the UK, England.
yes, countersteers just like a normal bike.

What's top speed brahski
thx for the reply cager
It should be a 250cc or 300cc version!!! It is really cheap for Yamaha!
Try riding a Piaggio MP3
I love to bay one but we don't have than in Pakistan.

Yamaha tricity 300 should be the best scooter
well this is only really good for wet streets and a bit safer for people driving to work
or windy highways
The nice thing about those ugly monsters is that, having 3 wheels, you can ride them with only a car license, no matter how powerful they are. Motortriker really? Then i'm completely lost... I dont know who's it aimed for.
Motortriker In Sweden you only need a car license. There is no such a thing as an "automatic motorcycle license" here. It's pretty weird if you ask me.
It's probably a 125 for fuel efficiency. These are the furthest away from hooligan bikes you can get haha :P
Maybe you will like the Yamaha 01GEN that was introduced at the Intermot 2014? Let's hope Yamaha will introduce a production model soon.
It seems nothing more than a cheap clone/imitation of the Piaggio Mp3 (the inventor of this kind of scooters).
