  • Beyond question a series and game for the ages. Includes full CBC coverage and extensive post game coverage and commentary. One of the great Stanley Cup final series of all-time, fought ferociously until the last minute. By Game 7 the New York media and Ranger fans had learned not to underestimate the Canucks and their explosive superstar Pavel Bure. Bure was one of those players, like Messier, who could win a game all on his own, but with Kirk McLean giving one of the great goaltending performances and the rest of the Canucks on a seemingly unstoppable role the victor of this series was no longer considered certain as the puck dropped for game 7. Enjoy.

Lady with the 1994/94 The Curse Ends 2nite sign.... factor that in with my boy Sam Rosen saying "This one will last a lifetime".... I think next time my Rangers win the Cup will be 2099 or 2094 😠😠😠😠. It will definitely be a LIFETIME

Everyone always talked about Lafayette infamously hitting the post--I always felt Gelinas' missed open net at 1:51:27 was more of a heartbreaker. Lafayette had zero time to get the shot off whereas Gelinas had a gimme. The near misses by Adams & Bure at 45:31 are also hard to watch.
This game however cemented Linden as Captain Canuck. The 2-goal performance off the heels of the Ranger attempt to take him out in the final minute of game 6 and the injuries he was playing through...miles above Messier in class.

The Canucks won even though they lost. It remains one of the great underdog stories in league history. You cannot emerge from the series with anything but the utmost respect for what the Canucks achieved.

Sorry Canucks fans looking at the games through fanglasses. Your squad’s bullying was entirely overlooked by the officiating all series. Just ask Glen Anderson after getting tripped by Gelinas, sticked in the face by Momesso, and facially crosschecked again by Gelinas - all in the span of 3 seconds. Not to mention several too many men non-calls. Sure your top line of Linden, Courtnall and Bure was skilled but the rest of the goons never deserved anything.
The goal posts also made plenty of saves for McClean…

goal posts do not make saves, it means the shooter's aim was off, frequently because the goalie had everything else covered. You can hit the post all day long, goalies don't care because goal posts are not goals.
