- In the past episodes of History with V Sriram, we have seen more about Chennai. But in this episode, we travel 300 Km straight to Trichy to talk about Rockfort. Many people know only about the Temple on the mount and the Shopping areas surrounding it. This video let us know about the unknown facts and interesting history behind the place. This place holds the details of the Pandias, the Pallavas, Jains, Nayaks, Nawab of Arcot, British and independent India. The long history of this place cannot be explained in a single video. The Rockfort is said to be 4 billion years old, It is there before the Himalayas. Many people don’t know about the hidden cave and temple inside the Rockfort. 6.) தெப்பக்குளம் அருகில் உள்ள இராபர்ட் கிளைவ் ஆஸ்டல் இது அன்றைய ஆங்கிலேயரின் கோட்டை இதில் வீரபாண்டிய கட்டபொம்மன் வந்து குதிரை ஏற்றத்தில் ஆங்கிலேயரையே பிரமிக்க வைத்தார் என்று மருதநாயக குறிப்பில் உள்ளது காரணம் அன்றைய கால கட்டத்தில் மருதநாயகமும் இந்த கிளைவ் ஆஸ்டலில் ஆங்கிலேய படைபிரிவுக்கு ஒரு தலைமை அதிகாரியாக இருந்தவர் அதன் பின் மதுரையை கைப்பற்றி ஆங்கிலேயரை அலைகழித்தவர்

உறையூர் - சோழர்கள் தலைநகர் எங்கே போனது. உறையூர் கொறத்தெரு- நாச்சியார் கோவில் வரும் வழியில் பாண்டமஙகலம் - mission hospital - Methadeist highschool back side , chairman RATHINAVEL DEVAR period he allowed the municipal conservation staff to build their house. While digging they found out red bricks and other building materials buried underneath of the sandy floor. No further excavation done .

Sir excellent review. Suggest you travel some 60 kms South and visit our famous Thirukokarnam temple. A 1.5 km long fully stone drilled and carved Siva temple. A real world wonder. Thanks
It is a nice site. Even the museum near that temple is also must visit. Really love Pudukkottai Town planning.

Same kind of Pallava temple cave temple at Chengalpattu, Vallam, vallam is called as village in Pallava period. also Pallava tried building temples at Mamandur. Same style of architecture is found.

Six historical locations adjacent to Rockfort
1. Clive's house - House of Lord Clive when he was stationed in Trichy during Carnatic wars
2. Our Lady of Lourdes church
3. Main guard gate - only standing structure left of a wall the encircled the whole area.
4. Rani Mangammal Mahal - Built by Chokkanatha Nayak
5. Nather Shah Mosque - contains the remains of Chanda Sahib and the Nawab Wallajah
6. Christ Church - Second oldest church in TN
There are many many more important places in this small area I believe.

After watching this video, I made an exclusive trip to Rockfort all the way from Hyderabad. Amazing place indeed. I went to the smaller Pallava cave at the bottom of the North side of the Rock. Carvings were rather engrossing. Tku Sriram Sir!
Visited numerous times since childhood but never got to see the cave.. we have missed a lot.

Excellent sir. About Badami and pallava temple architecture having similarities is explained (?) by Kalki in 'Sivagamiyin Sabhadam'. That may be his conclusion. But can it be true?
