It's all about what works for the individual but small scale automation of tasks to free up valuable time for the smaller farmer is awesome.

Great work! For smart timer control if you have farm wifi: is a Shelly Cloud wifi relay. Offers unlimited rules based control on sunsets/sunrise or other sensor inputs. Also is the option to share the wifi hotspot from your phone set up the relays as they host thier own web servers, then let it run offline.

If you have a hitch on both side for pulling the egg mobile then you wouldn't need to turn it around a 180 degree when going back up the fields. That would allow you to put the solar panel on the sloped side. Not sure if the wheels are in the center or more toward 1 side.

If the eggs were made to roll to the back of the nest boxes you could have the door on the outside flip up to collect the eggs and shed rain/sun as you work. That is how my mini (4'x4'x4' cube) coup works. If you were to install a solar powered motor to drive the wheels you wouldn't need a tractor to move them. And feeding could be done by an automated system several times a day like you did in the beginning.

I'll keep an eye open for cheap/free lift chairs. The designs I've seen use a couple reasonably strong linear actuators.

For 5 euro per switch (Sonoff Basic) and a mobile cheap router, you can set up the automation from your phone and add webcams. That will help a lot for a quick check-in even when you are on holiday.

My old man gave someone £10 to go and get some bubbles for his spirit level, he came back with a pack of those and said "you owe £8 as they were £18 so I had to put them on my card". He'll never live that down! Same as "Sky hooks", "sparks for bench grinder", but the best is still "a long weight" (wait) :)
