    Hey man randomly found this channel. Checked out others you have. I have to say. Love the style. You break it down very nicely Chris. I am picking up a 71 chevelle ss roller so I will be checking your channel out everyday man. Thanks for the videos. Not sure but I would like to see frame off to road riding type videos on the chevelle. That being said. All your other videos are handy as well like the door bell one and the painting the shudders. Love it keep going !!

    I always love your videos man, they are very helpful, and I love the way you working on your car
    I own a 72 Chevelle
    Although this video shows the right way to install a sound system
    I'm little disappointed to see that you cut a perfectly good super sport dash
    My dash is the sweep style and I went to a lot of trouble to find one that wasn't cut

    Hey man, you wanna put that fuse as close as possible to the battery to prevent a fire. If the cable gets pinched in the floor or the trunk and shorts to ground it'll melt down real quick.

      Glad to help. Should be easy to hide it inside the fender. I know what you mean though, ruins the classic look of an engine bay.

    @richardbates2367 Před rokem

    you could do what I've done before and run a graphic equalizer/booster not a dry eq or pre equalizer,they are usually 45-140 watts and power your rear speakers that way and you will be able to hear them,I did that with a set of pyramid III gold series 4x10 200 watt speakers powered by the Jensen 88 watt graphic equalizer/booster, you could also use a kraco or boss audio and even pyramid and Pyle made them.

    hey Chris, do you know where I can find that plastic/rubber strap that covers the wires to the back?

  • @arthurporrata8882
    @arthurporrata8882 Před rokem

    You should put the fuse by the battery, because if that wire that thick should short out against the the body there's a good chance that the car will catch fire,
    now if the fuse is bay the battery the fuse blow before it catches fire.

  • @atraxr603
    @atraxr603 Před 7 lety +1

    Fuse is in the engine bay cause you want it as close to the power source (in this case battery) as possible. Having it in the trunk won't do you much cause you can set your car on fire if the wire shorts to ground before the fuse. You have to have it 5-10 inches from the battery, that's the proper way to do it.

    Hi chirs I'm about to wire a radio to my 67 Firebird for the first time I have a yellow wire that goes on when the car goes on and it leads to the radio fuse on the fuse box I don't need to put another fuse on this wire or do I and for the memory of the radio I put it to the battery extra position on the fuse box with a 10 amp fuse is that right thank you for all your help and if I don't use the memory wire can I leave it alone without being wired to nothing

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  Před 6 lety

      the yellow wire is already fused.. add an 18 gauge red with a 10 amp fuse to BAT for the red memory wire on radio.. YES, you are right..

  • @CP3IGIN
    @CP3IGIN Před 3 lety

    Hi Cris, for the constant 12v red wire that connects the radio to the BAT fuse box, I have a 20amp fuse with the wire instead of 10amp. Will that work? You mentioned 10 or 15 amp. Can it be anything above 10amps?

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  Před 3 lety

      20 amp is too big.. the radio would possibly burn up before that fuse would blow.., most radios use a 10 amp fuse

  • @southernfriedhippie
    @southernfriedhippie Před 7 lety +1

    Ok now I got a question for ya. I notice you used wire nuts, I was always taught they could vibrate loose in an automotive application. How do they work out in your experence? If nothing else they seem like they would be a bit bulky. I just solder/shrinktube pretty much everything.

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  Před 7 lety

      +southernfriedhippie I never permanently wire in a radio plug... they were taped in the video... only place I would use wire nuts on a car...wrap them with electrical tape and they will not come loose.. I have never seen a wire but come loose when it was installed correctly
