I won't be swapping out my vivosmart 4 for this clunker. Garmin are still missing a trick by not having a simple, thin, light, no display Jawbone / Fitbit style band in the range. So many of us want to wear a regular dress watch while discreetly collecting health metrics to complement the data gathered from our fenix or forerunner. Come on Garmin, sort it out.

It's not their job to please everyone. It sounds like someone makes something you want. Why not buy that? I wish someone made a thin watch that would show power metrics for biking. Nobody makes it but few want that and I understand why.

Biggest difference between this and the Fitbit Charge 5 is the Fitbit has ECG function and colour display. However, Fitbit products I have over the years usually die in 2-3 years useage. They always give you a out of warranty discount of 25-35 % discount on a new Fitbit product but thats still not good enough in my opinion.

This has Physio TrueUp so it syncs a lot of data between devices. Body battery seems to be a little quirky though for me - not necessarily perfectly in line with one another but close. I'm planning on a follow up with more info but everything else seems to sync just fine including stuff like steps, VO2 max, Fitness age, etc...

    Thank you for the review!
I’m from a mechanical watch background but I just bought a Garmin Fenix 7s SS and love it. That said, I miss wearing some of other watches. Obviously wearing two wrist watches is a little much, so I looked into getting a Vivosmart 5. The goal would be to wear it while I wear my other watches so I don’t miss a beat health stat wise, but obviously the primary tracking device would be the Fenix. What do you think of that? Would doing so keep track of my stats accurately?
Too bad Garmin doesn’t offer a small band that just tracks stats for you while you have your main wearable off. They could literally program it so they the only way the data uploads is by linking to a Garmin product if they are worried about cannibalize their other products. It would add so much flexibility…anyway curious about your thoughts. Thanks!

    @maxquaini Před 2 lety +5

Thank you for this awesome review! I've been watching also the DC one, both useful. At a first sight I would think the charge 5 is a big winner but if I'm not wrong:
    1. Fitbit removed from the Charge 5 the relax feature, it looks like vivosmart 5 has it.
    2. Charge 5 doesn't allow you to smartly add water data while I've seen you can track it on vivosmart 5? Correct?
    3. Despite the nice Fitbit app, I prefer the more in depth Garmin one.
For many people the lack of GPS is a minus, but if having the GPS mean affecting the HR sensor accuracy - as it seems to be on Charge 5 - I am fine with Garmin choice.
Such a shame it doesn't have the colored and always on display but you can't have it all, right?
I'm still a bit skeptical about the sleep tracking accuracy, the only one Garmin that worked fine for me on sleep tracking was the Vivosport, all the others were/are still crappily wrong.
Thinking I might give a go to this little guy....
Any clue about a new upcoming Vivosport anytime soon? Just wondering.
    Thank you!

Garmin has been ticking all the boxes for me, this model being a huge winner so far.. for price, size, everyday, user simplicity, not too many features i feel like i won’t utilize, definitely not too little features. I’ve had this for some time now. I’ll be on a hike and it’ll randomly stop my walk when I have been maintaining a constant pace. It’ll not vibrate or tell me. I’ll be walking for over an hour and it’ll tell me I’ve only been gone for 30 mins or so.
If I manually start a walk, it’ll prepopulate the distance with an outlandish number around 40miles before I’ve taken a single step!
It’ll also miscalculate distance/steps I have 3 walking routes with the dog of longer distances and it’ll get the steps right but give me the wrong distance, showing 10k steps as 3km, 7k steps as 3km, and 4k steps as 3km. I don’t have a 30cm stride!!

I bought it and gesture doesn’t work, which is very annoying.
Device feels like from 2017 and you will feel that Garmin forgot to update it in 2022.

All watches can register false-positive steps depending on vibrations encountered. Fitbits tend to be very sensitive to this, Garmin sort of in the middle, with Apple Watches being a bit more accurate.
