I honestly think this is the pinnacle of Josh Katz. It was really good. And as a photographer I really recommend you to listen to his tips!!!
as a photographer

Thanks for all your support
Josh Katz dude these are so sick!
Please do another one of these on fishes photography
A video about film cameras would be nice
Yea I want to know what is the best camera to get especially for skate pics and videos
@@tomib8789 I'd imagine as you're asking here you're on a low budget. Sony A6000 is a great starting camera for action shots and filming
@@jacket2848 thanks I am going for low budget cameras
These are my favorite of all your videos, I've been watching your channel for years now but you're a fantastic teacher and an excellent photographer!
I love your work Josh!! It has really inspired me to continue with photography after my exams. Would love to see more photography videos in the future :)
Thanks for the GREAT info. Just starting to play around with taking skateboard and biking photos of my son; I learned so much from just this one video!
This serie is really helpful thanks!
These videos are super helpful don't stop👌🏻
I feel like i just took an entire class on photography
great video, thanks a bunch josh
This was a great tutorial video!! Thank you!
This was great man! Keep it up 💯
Katz man I love these vids and appreciate all the photo help. I trolled you so hard up till now lol but I'm becoming a believer
THIS REALLY HELPED ME!! Thank you Josh!!! Shalom from Israel :)))) ❤️❤️
i actually appreciate this video so much, subbed.
cheers man I've never shot skateboarding before and this is an excellent way to start!
Super helpful, thanks man!
Please do more! I always watch this but I want to get better at my photos so please make a more in depth one. Preferably on long lens photography! PLEASE
Thanks for the tips!
this super helpful - thank you!!
Thanks for the Photography videos , they are really usefull , keep it up :)
would love to see some editing tips in the future
would you mind doing the same kind of tutorial with filming (if you feel like you've enough skills to teach us), it'd be great (focusing on which angle using, which kind of camera is better for beginners, how to make your videos steady and overall some tips.)! nice vid by the way, really instructive even if I don't shoot skateboarding photos!
Ran into some skaters a few hours ago and didn’t really like my shots. Thank you for this!
This was a great tutorial video!! Thank you! Also what are some really good, cheap vlogging cameras??
Hey man! I have to say you really helped me with this. On how I should shoot etc. I basically had no idea where to start, until I found this video. I have one question though. Can I use a tripod to film? Like upside down. So it's more stable.
Cool video man! :)
- Martin
Very well explained Josh!
Talk in an Australian accent
yeahhh
Great job!
Wow! The pic at 4:27! Is that with the fish-eye you mentioned? and a Polarizer for that sky? Beautifull!
great video helped a lot
nice vid. Would love to know how to put a sequence all in one photo like one of your most recent insta posts.
thanks, this is great advice
Hey josh. I really do believe, that your taste is impeccable, (your 'impeccable indie' spotify playlist has basically saved my life audio wise), so with that in mind, i thought that you might have a few good podcast suggestions?
Could you do a vid on your tips for photoshop or lightroom?
thanks Josh now my photo game will be on point. but I will have to rewatch it at home cuz I'm in first period. :)
haha
Castnight02 my teacher is sick she lets us play on our phones :D
Dude your day in the life's are awesome you should really look into vlogs i find your DITL better then John Hills vlogs
You can always use burst mode. Even if you’re using flash, if you’re not in high speed sync, you can usually get away with a small burst.
sick vid
Could you do another one with flashes ( some cheap options?) where you explain the general technique? For example my integrated flash of my canon t5i only allows a shutter speed of 1/250 (at least it seems like that). Does this mean that an external flash won´t allow more aswell? night fotography is also a whole nother topic in skateboarding.
Please do more!!!!!!!!
What flashes or lights should you use for taking photos at night
this may be re-hashing, but I really want to take some of the 360 panorama's you taught, but I have an android and haven't been able to find an app that works even remotely well, if there is any way you could do some research as to how I, or anyone with an android device could do that, I would greatly appreciate it. Great tutorials, keep up the fantastic work
so do you focus more stationary on the spot/area where the trick will be done? or focus on the skater, tracking him with the camera while you shoot?
would you recoment your opteka or a ronikon fisheye?
I ask this all the time, but I love these videos. I got my first DSLR for christmas today ( Nikon d3300 ), the settings are kinda confusing so please another one more in depth about long lens or just setting in general for things like flash setting and shutter speed.
Thanks!
peter .palmer i have the same camera :) its a great one
can you do a video for shooting with a lens that zooms really far
I've been getting into analog lately and am going to try to get some skate photos with analog, something I understand isn't so common now (at least from my research). Do you know of any film skateboarding photographers that would be useful to check out?
can i tag you in a skate photo i took fairly recently?
How do you shoot these photos where you use long exposure but with a moving object in the middle? (for example 0:54 )
Hey josh, me and my freind are entering a photo competition for my town, we have to take a photo of what our town means to us and our favourite place or thing to do in our town, were thinking of a shot at our local indoor park, any tips?
how did you get that one photo of the front shove with a long exposure of the cars in the back ground, i would think the lower shutter speeds would result in major blur, how did you not have the blur?
Would it be okay to film a video part with a handheld camcorder that's HD, in your opinion? For example, a kodak zi6?
Can you show us how to do the sequence photos in Photoshop 💯💯💯💯
how do you call the thing where you hold the photo button and take 30 photos of a trick
Could you make a tutorial on shootings skate videos please
How do you edit your skate photos?
What is your flash setup man ?
Skate Photography Flashes Tutorial?
Hey Josh what skatepark(S) will you be going to on go skate day? I really want to know and possible see you in person.
No idea! Will be in San Francisco though.
Aww man that awesome tho
I believe the 70D can actually do 25600 ISO when expanded in settings... Not that you'd ever need it though haha
Is the opteka lens stirdy? I'm thinking of buying a fisheye but don't want to spend more than 250 bucks on it. Would you recommend the opteka for filming? Thanks :)
Yup totally worth the 150$ my dad has a 250$+ rokinon 8mm and the image quality is the same
❤️
does it matter what camera I use? any suggestions?
I'm sure you can use just about any camera. The lens is what matters. Affordable cameras can be a canon t6i or a sony a6000. Personally I would go for the sony since the sensors are known to be better.
are you going to skate fest
Dear Josh,
I noticed that you have 32 Day In The Life videos. Your last 2 were only posted a few days apart. Are you planning on doing vlogs or making a separate vloging channel on youtube? Best of luck and keep skating!
is a canon 600d ( t3i ) a good camera for filming/photography of skating?
i only have the standard stock 18-55mm lens though
It's still not that bad at all, if you're looking for another lens to get started I'd suggest a 50mm f1.8, it's pretty cheap, easy to carry around but can produce amazing photos !
And get a fish eye Lense for skate shoots
I’m attempting to take photos of myself skating - Oof. Let’s see how this goes haha,
You ever gonna do a video with that one kid Eric again?
"Properly lit"
what lense can i use for my super good samsung galaxy s4 ? :p
super good xD
don't use one, it's already super good
good video
Ikr
Go as high a shutter speed that you can before your shot is underexposed and you've maxed your ISO comfort level. There is no magic number. How high you're willing to push your ISO will vary from camera to camera, thus effecting how fast you can crank your shutter.
are other people taking pictures of you, i keep hearing camera shutters in the
background
You should make more photography videos, maybe you can shoot some of the parks you go to...
+94ranger92 new one on editing is dropping next week!
+Josh Katz Oh nice! I'll be keeping an eye out. Thanks for the response
Who's sony a7r mk2 tho? that bad larry cost an arm and a leg lol
Good fisheye for filming and photography (NIKON)
if your looking for one try the Rokinon 8mm fisheye. Its a pretty good lens for a lower price and i use it for my nikon d3200 and both photos and video turn out great
mason bouchard thanks a lot I have a Nikon d5300! 😀
Thank you for mentioning how to focus on the skater. That is something that isn't really said.
And why no to multiple shots?
Joan Brunet right? I use burst mode and it would perfectly!
yo 0:43 is at my local!
what the hell it's 5 am
Can you please make a new day in my life video please 😸😸😸😸
What's going on with Jordan lately ?
He is getting his gender transformation soon.

Great tutorials. Thanks heaps for doing these. Craig V2P_Productions
that is a very white sheet behind you
Your sync speed isn't fast enough to be shooting 1/800th of a second with flashes. Lower it to 250, thats the fastest sync speed with the 70D.
Hypersync with Canon flashes.
Fair call!

Josh is the kind of guy to watch a porn video just to see if the plumber actually fixes the sink.
You should talk in a british accent :)
I didn't know thrasher does that :(
On a scale of 1-10, I rate you helmet.
Your watermark is noticeable but not annoyingly so.
If I submit a photo and you like it, can you shout my channel out, and send me a toaster?

"if your friend never lands the trick, the photo should not see the light of day". wat. if it looks good use it. i dont think you put rules like that on photography
It's part of journalistic integrity. Photographers need to tell honest stories, and posting a photo of a trick that wasn't landed is like telling a lie. Totally fine if you make it clear that the trick wasn't landed in the caption, though.
fair enough. i guess there's journalistic photography and theres photography that just tries to make art rather than tell the truth
