2021 Cruise Part 3 Plymouth to Portland (Nordhavn 47 'Wanderlust')

- This is part 3 of our 2021 cruise from our home port of Portishead Marina to the south coast of England. We covered 750nm in total during our 2021 cruise.
Part 3 sees us leaving Plymouth on our way to Portland Marina in the county of Dorset, UK. This is an 82nm journey and is a good reflection on what it is like to own and cruise with a 47ft Nordhavn.
Our boat is a 2005 Nordhavn 47 which we named 'Wanderlust'.

As a Bristol resident I've notice your boat in Portishead for a while . Myself and a couple of mates done our 2 days RYA powerboat course in the marina about a month ago and doing the manual part in front of you yacht even the instructor admired her. Hoping to get my 1st rib next year.

HMS Hood (1891 Royal Sovereign Class) was sunk in Nov 1914 in the then southern ship channel of Portland by a RN team led by my grandfather, now classed as a historic wreck, no diving allowed
I remember diving the Hood in the early 80's, A few wrecks around Salcombe too. This is like a trip, sail, down Memory Lane! Been many a year since I was back in Blighty.

Love your videos, it's great to see a Nordhavn in European waters. At 9:28 you inspect the props and I wonder why the wing engine prop is (half) extended - can this be done manually? I thought it would fold out when spinning but being collapsed when stopped. I can imagine in this position there would be too much drag. Thanks.
Hi, I had only just freed up the prop before starting off from Portishead so I know the wing prop was not stuck. I think that the wing prop had partially unfolded because I had hit reverse on the main engine when docking. You can feel when there is some offset drag from the prop when manoeuvring and there was none so it must have been just that. Thanks for your comment.
