    Interesting that the 22 WRX now has a stock aluminum turbo inlet rather than the plastic one from the previous generation. Good upgrade out of the box from Subaru.

      Absolutely a good upgrade. I'm sure subaru knows about the issue with the 15-21 turbo inlets issues and how they are prone to cracking.. especially where the bpv connects. I bought the Grimmspeed inlet as soon as it released, before my OEM one had a chance to fail. Just in case..
      But yeah, nice to see Subaru making that change! 🤟

    I have noticed the rough idle after installing this, had the car die on me after falling from high rpms, which i would could prove to be dangerous if you werent paying attention, or in a perfect storm scenario. Thought maybe vaccuum leak but we smoke tested it and found nothing. It does make a cool woosh sound but at the expense of it low idling and catching up. Has become much more noticable as winter moves in here in north alabama, where in the summer its hot thick humid air with pretty consistent temps day and night, but in the winter we get 30-45° temp drops and the air is just as humid so i know that sudden influx of cold thick air can be really taxing on an engine especially during break in

    • @GT4Commoner
      @GT4Commoner Před 7 měsíci +1

      There was a video that explained that although the dual port BOV is louder, it is recommended to have tuning accompanying the install to prevent the hunting and stalling scenarios. Elevation, temp, and humidity will all play a role in how the engine management system controls the fuel. I believe the video stated that it creates very rich conditions that lead to the issues. The Kompact Plumb Back Valve was recommended for those that are not ready to add a tune to the car. I will be looking into that model when I get mine in a week or two. My tall ass will not fit in a WRX with a sunroof so finding a Premium trim without is a little hard.

    What’s the difference between plum back and dual port, do they work with the cvt?

    • @juanmiranda-tt5df
      @juanmiranda-tt5df Před rokem

      Dual port has a 50/50 spread, meaning 50 percent of air goes back into the intake and the other 50 gets blown out of into the atmosphere. This is probably why this bov for this gen works unlike the other BOV's for the previous gen. The plum I believe recirculates all of the air back into the intake, not 100 percent sure on that but if that's so then you wouldnt get the the woosh noise your looking for with the plum.

    Ayooo :) after install peak boost went from 13.2 to 11. Obviously there’s a lot of variables here but does it seem like a leak somewhere?

    • @ValkenDnB
      @ValkenDnB Před rokem +2

      It just vents to the atmosphere which is bad because the computer thinks it’s recirculating back into the car so you might actually be running a little leak. These new WRX’s have BPV so you want to be recirculating.

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ Před rokem +7

      @@ValkenDnB That is not correct. While our Dual Port has a port that partially vents to the atmosphere, it also has a recirculation port. This recirculation port will send roughly 50% of the air back into the intake system to satisfy OE parameters in the ECU. A BOV does not alter boost pressure, it simply diverts pressure away from the turbo. If you are seeing a slight leak after installation I would double check your work to ensure everything is secured and snug to eliminate any areas where a leak could occur.

      @franciscosoto8888 Před rokem

      I stripped my bolts as the BOV is slightly bigger on the edges and hard to tighten the very top bolt in place and new provided bolts seem to go in way tighter than original bolts, but stock bolts have such tiny depth for the angle on torx screw driver. Then again mine is a 2023 wrx….

      @@manjarrezramon it doesn’t void the warranty unless you tune the car. Some dealerships are strict when it comes to “modified” cars. Depending on the dealer, they will either “flag” your car to Subaru of America as a modified car if you tune your vehicle or have a Cobb access port. However, in some cases my dealer doesn’t do all that. But if you tune the car, there isn’t much the dealer can do. If you want my opinion, don’t do a cold air intake unless you plan on tuning your car. There’s “safe” intakes but trust me the stock intake works better than you think.
