- The limited-edition Volkswagen Golf TCR has been one of the hottest talking points since it was revealed that we would be getting RHD versions in South Africa. Not to be outdone, Renault announced at the beginning of the year that we would also be getting a literal handful of Renault Megane R.S. 300 Trophys, 3 manuals and 4 EDC models for a total of only 7 in SA!

Nice review. Pity we didn’t see a lap around the track review. These hot hatches are about drag and the rack track. Recently picked up my RS300. Loving it. Even on day to day driving.
Thinking of buying it mate. My question is on days I dont feel like racing..:) is it any economical a bit for relaxing driving? Is it too uncomfortable? We don't have the car in Cyprus to test drive so it's a kind of gamble for me..

I had to score you thumbs down. You have a track available and you use only 200m of it to drag race.??? Then you tootle around the track for your own entertainment. Performance car tests MUST have performance data, whether it's 1/4 mile, in-gear acceleration, 0-100km/h, braking, track times etc, etc. Numerous reviewers around the world test performance cars and all they do is describe the ride comfort, steering feel, interior etc which are important but offer no performance data. What happens is reviewers have a talkfest, as if they are at a mother's club meeting judging the best scones.

GTI launch control system is honestly the worst system ever put in a car. The timing isn't the best and it just 'jumps' as you floor the accelerator. Rather a rolling race for a GTI if its looking to win.
3 best hot hatches at the moment but failing to mention that the best is the typeR....proven
And that's coming from owning 4 Renault sport models including the new megane rs280

The megane is the best just buy the megane I drove the lot the only car to consider is the Honda but its ugly an sounds weak so buy the megane

You could get the GTI or you could be wrong and buy one of the other two. You dont have to have the fastest car, you just have to have the car that has the biggest emotional impact on you. And that will always be the GTI.
