  • (📹 3/29/2024) YOOOOOOOOOOO!!! These are some freaking AMAZING and very fast Otis elevators at the West Tower at the Tropicana in Atlantic City NJ. I thought this was just some mod like the south and north towers, but after doing further research on this specific building, these end up being completely original. The applied panel choice is kinda stupid in my opinion though. These accelerate and decelerate very fast, which I love a lot. These also have some of the loudest brakes I've heard from overhead gearless machines. These cruise very fast throughout this tower and are very efficient. The second car going down produces these loud and epic banging sounds which I thought was extremely epic (starts at 3:02) and they eventually end up sounding like a train passing through one of those switching tracks in a tunnel.
    Note that I have the video muted from 0:10 till 0:27 and a bit at 1:50 to prevent the stupid copyright stuff.

    I love going to other cities to ride high-speed elevators. The experience never gets old and we don’t have many of them in the DMV.

      The DMV is kinda depressing. Atlantic City was fantastic. They have so many unique and fun elevators there

      @@dmvelevatorsandmore We have some cool stuff, just not high rise

      Obviously. There's Falls Church and McLean, which have some cool old elevators, but I get your point about the high rises

      @@dmvelevatorsandmore you should’ve checked for service elevators in all those casinos… Then you’d really be blown away. Atlantic City literally had a set of 3 20 story Westinghouse vandal resistant elevators up until last year. I was so upset I found them when I did as there was only one original, by the time I discovered them.

    The bells reminded me of Half Life a little bit

    These are MCE, not otis according to NJ elevator inspection documents

      is there a link to the NJ elevator records?

      @@dmvelevatorsandmore Yes, on opramachine, it includes all inspections for the year 2023, including elevator manufacturers, speeds, and what not, these elevators travel at 700 fpm. West Tower: MCE, Havana Tower: OTIS, South Tower: Westinghouse, North Tower: Dover, and I believe the elevators in the chelsea tower are dover as well.

    These are not Otis and I’m pretty sure they are not completely original. Noticed the Dover bell on the top floor? I have no clue if the buttons are original or not but these were definitely installed by Dover when the tower was built.

      The "EZ" displayed on the indicator is pretty evidential that this is an Otis somehow, whether original or mod. The COP looks equal to the year that these were built. The door drop keys or equipment aren't Dover's either. This must be some weird custom Otis install.

      @@dmvelevatorsandmore I don’t know, do the records say Otis? Or maybe I’m just trying to comprehend how they could be Otis despite not having hardly any Otis characteristics.

      These were originally Westinghouse

    • @dmvelevatorsandmore
      @dmvelevatorsandmore  Před měsícem

      @fgpalm These were built in 1996 and Westinghouse was defunct in 1989, so no. The South Tower ones were Westies though.
