Today it’s July 15th. The day a Korean man asked me if there’s ice cream 🍦 in my country(Gabon 🇬🇦). I was shocked and didn’t know how to respond…I felt angry and sad at the same time
I think the discrimination in Korea relates very much to the one done by South Africans to Zimbabweans, Nigerians, Malawians and to people of the rest of the African continent at large. The bullying that a child at school goes through just for being too Black bc the father is from Zim or Malawi. Them having to learn our Isizulu, Xhosa and the rest of the languages just to be accepted by us, we also never bother to learn a thing about them at most times. I would also leave Korea because being continuously undermined and questioned is truly not nice.
I couldn't agree more! We have a superiority complex as South Africans when it comes to our African counterparts. Especially given the current high unemployment and crime rates, they end up being blamed for everything. Added to that, the derogatory names they are called and the terms used to refer to them are so demeaning. We need to do better!
Colourism is found in all black countries including the USA. Those Zims you defend also make fun of other nationalities. They are prejudiced against coloureds, Asians, whites and other Africans
This is really refreshing to see ❤️someone choosing to come back home to try elevate the goodness of what we have. I have too much to say but let me end it here 😭
You are an inspiration Ruth. I am proud of you for following your heart and prioritizing yourself over acceptance and fighting to fit in a foreign community. Congratulations on your Podcast launch.
Hey Ruth. Oh my goodness, firstly and I've said this before. You truly inspire me and in the same breath, you belong in front of a screen whether broadcasting, presenting. You name it! Then lastly you put it so well about the racial homogeneity. And you are so right, we owe it o ourselves to put ourselves in spaces that raise our vibrations. I never cared about looks up until I came to this country, and how superficial is that because I have so much more to offer than my looks! Thank you so much for sharing. It truly is putting things in perspective for me. I look forward to all that your podcast will offer.
This was so well explained! Super excited for the podcast and conversations. I truly have faith that it will be fruitful and impactful. Can’t wait Ruth🎉❤
First, you look so gorgeous ❤, second we are very much looking forward to such insightful conversations with you Zanele on yr podcast. I for one first knew you from one day leader and followed you on your socials till today. That is what this podcast reminds me of, Ruth from one day leader. Hopefully you are as consistent with those podcast videos ke sana😂❤ We love you❤ and we definitely cannot wait for part 2.
You are absolutely beautiful with a unique style and a grace that trancends thru the screen. A true representation of Africa Strong, Talented and Skillfull. I am shocked that you have experienced this from the Korean community who actually needs you and your skill set👀. I truly do agree with you that Africa and African people should not be defined as a RESOURCE to the world but as a valued contributor and should be appreciated for all that we bring to the "table". The timing of your podcast is on point 💯 with the current affairs that is taking place I hope you are able to make a difference.
U certainty know ur worth under the sun, I was wondering why U left SK, harde about that. Otherwise looking forward to your podcast, I can sense an exciting content ahead. Beautiful brains 👌🏾. Good luck.
I feel the time you where in Korea God was preparing you for this journey you about to take. By the first podcast l can tell you will strive. The world is your oyster ❤❤.
Oh man, I couldn't agree more! I am doing things with such clear intention and I am so sure about what I want now. Thank you so much for the support ❤️ 🙏
If others are just as confused (and frankly exhausted) as I was when I first came to watch this video on "Why I left Korea," please skip to 7:18. The video sold in the title starts there. The stuff there is worth the watch, accurate and informative.
Good job. I think you know the drill. Firstly hope your masters is in Arts/communication and not in Education, that will enable you to lecture in the school of Journalism or whatever you call it that side. Then of cos do your PhD as soon as possible. Start with your local campus, if there is a campus tv or radio, go volunteer. Also in your city, if there is a tv station or radio, go and start there...am sure you already did, just encouraging you that that is the way. You gat this
Imbokodo that is you, Ruth.. Thank you for sharing what you were going through,I applaud you.. I cannot wait to see what other amazing things you have in store for us ..I appreciate you and mostly thank you for guarding your heart and staying strong ...you are indeed a strong young women.❤
Hi Ruth, thanx for the video i have a question. Do you think that if your situation at home was bad and you really needed to come home having done specific goals would you have come back so early was it that bad? Is it also because u do have a good/strong family support system at home that actually u where like u know what, ngiyahamba. Do u think is as south africans are i dont wanna say spoilt but i cant think of another word honestly anyway do u think South Africans cant handle pressure, we dont have think skin. Yazi sometime lana i see ppl from Mozambique, Zimbabweans are our nannys for years but they have iEducation Esile in their country but because they are here do bekezela. Im just so curious about this cause im also doing research ukuthi thina lapha(Asian Countrys ) cause apperantly nase China ziyabuya they are toooo racist why arent we able to handle situations to achieve things why cant we bekezela are qe really spoilt. GOSH I WISH CZcams HAD A VOIVE NOTE. I DONT KNOW IF IM MAKING ANY SENSE😢
I am so proud of you for taking the leap of faith and going to South Korea. I am sorry about things that you did not like in Korea, and thank you for honestly sharing your journey about Korea. I wish you all the best with the podcast my BEAUTIFUL AFRICAN. May God elevate you in everything you want to achieve in life. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!! I was nervous to spill all the beans about my stay in Korea on a platform like this, but supportive responses like yours have made me realize that I wasn't alone. Keep well, all the best in the remainder of your journey sis 🥹♥️
I would love to be one of the people to be interviewed by you, for that I would make time, any topic, I can list many from how it feels to be a teacher at a school you went to, to how to it to be a businessman teacher, Christian Scientist and many more... I'll hear from you From your bro Brendon Mokalapa Managing Director of Infinite Wisdom Tutoring
my first day coming to korea I got very warm welcoming from an old woman by getting a rock throwing to my step, yes real rock, I am questioning what kind of cultured nation is korea? just dont be blind by their lied kdrama/kpop, totally false.
I’m emotional 🥹 after watching this… The weight, you are immediately deemed ugly if you are fat 😅 There’s nothing cute about learning the language and pretending that their food is wow when they think Africa has no buildings. And you never really get to see these things until you are in their country.
You and I should meet! You’re a woman after my own heart, same age too, I’m serious, also thinking of starting a debate club because it’s important to embolden young kids and equip them with the skill of debating , especially tough topics and challenging the status quo and being able to formulate their own thought . What’s your email?
Hi fam! ♥️ I see all your comments and I will respond soon, thank you so much for watching 🥰

That level of ignorance is really saddening 🥺🥺 I am really sorry you went through that my brother 🫂

Hawe my exact thought
That is sad, considering I've seen how we treat people from those African countries
