This is SO useful! You are literally the only person on yt who explains the movement of the hands, especially the bottom hand when shooting or passing. Since I‘m a hockey guy I was always curious what the hand at the end of the stick does because in hockey this hand controls everything and no other youtuber mentions this movement of the bottom hand. Well done!

Great video... teaching cradling has always been difficult, and this is a smart breakdown that makes it palatable.
Two other cradles you could include:
The hitch cradle, which is that last quarter-turn of the stick with the top hand that gets the ball in the sweet spot of the pocket before a pass or shot.
Also recently heard a coach talk about the "rattlesnake" cradle, which is when you're in an athletic dodging position and a 1-handed cradle and you almost violently "rattle" the stick back and forth in rapid quarter (or less) turns, to keep that ball jammed under a sidewall while you move with agility. Hope you can make sense of that and understand what I'm trying to describe.

Those are great stuff! I hadn't heard of the rattlesnake cradle, but that's a great visual!

And also can you use your top hand for shooting and passing cradle or is it supposed to be bottom

You absolutely can. Try practicing your throwing/shooting cradle with both your top and bottom hands and see which one you feel more comfortable with. It’s all a matter of preference.

When do you use your top hand to cradle

    • @POWLAX

I use my top hand to cradle anytime I am carrying the ball other than passing and shooting. You can twist the stick with your top hand when you move to pass or shoot, that’s has just been really awkward for me. I like the bottom hand turn in the passers and shooters cradle because it sets up my top hand to grab when I want to pass, fake, or dodge from that position.
