Shai is practically an MVP candidate, Chet Holmgren is having an unprecedented rookie season, and the team sits comfortably in second place in the Western Conference, even beating the defending champion Denver Nuggets… twice. On top of that, the huge haul of picks that Sam Presti has managed to amass could allow him to bring in a star right away. But, as is often the case, the force of nature has balanced the scales and has not allowed Oklahoma fans to be completely happy.

He scored less because chet came in, and they changed the way they played to accommodate him, and also been doing less munutes. You forgot before injury giddey was potential nba rookie of the year. And is the youngest player to hold triple doubles. Also just found out, as of the last game he is the fastest player in nba history to reach 1000 assists (by quite a bit).
He's still putting up solid numbers, and if you take minutes he plays, he out scores and out rebounds chet. Also most rebounds and assists per minutes in the team.
He improved his 3pt shooting, and fg% but dropped a little in defence. He would still be in a starter in 75% of teams.
Plus with everything going on and getting huge boos whenever he touches the ball im amazed he's playing as much or as well as he is.
I've been saying the same thing all year. Josh just sits on the bench while coach plays the the whole team. The bench players just shoot and nothing else. Josh gets the team moving and makes the opposition think more. They've been playing a stale boring sit on the perimeter style without him. He's a team leader sitting on the wing is a complete waste. His stats are good considering he is playing out of position with bugger all minutes.
Yes you are correct, And Giddy got off to an awful start, but has been playing well the last 5 weeks. His 3pt shooting is getting better and better, and while i don't think he will get over 40% on 3s this year, he will be there quickly. His counting numbers are down because he is playing several less minutes a night.
I will admit I get a little frustrated by the rotations. Some nights Giddy comes out and he is the best player on the floor for the first 6 minutes, and then he gets subbed, and sits for 12-14 minutes.
The Hayward trade was great because Giddey has struggled this year(still only 21 and had the allegations) and it allows Giddey to be rotated more instead of having to stay in and make shots. He can focus on his strengths more
Josh wants to pass first. Most OKC players want to just shoot, he’s a perfect unselfish player

His numbers are down but the team is winning, seems good to me. Australia teach their players to look for the better shot with the pass, look at all Australian players that have ever played NBA almost all are pass first players, unfortunately though it means their national team never has an out and out scorer.

Team still adjusting to Chet. There’s a lot of growth to come with all these young players. Josh has had a lot to deal with. They’d be crazy to break up the starting lineup at this point when everything is starting to gel and improvement is coming fast.
I’m not the coach but I’d be hesitant to break up this lineup. A fast improving team shouldn’t be messed with.
Madness to trade Giddey. Can do everything and is willing to for the team. His vision and I.Q. for a young player are top tier. He's surrounded by scorers. They will get the ball. Hits the boards. Pushes the floor. We should be talking about more minutes instead.

Giddey needs to shoot the three better and score at the rim better. He will get exposed in the playoffs if he cannot improve.
Giddy is fine, he is just down from 2nd to 4th as a scoring option & is having to adjust, it will probably be worse soon when wallace probably takes dorts starting spot & giddy is bumped to the 5th scoring option, but what a problem to have for the Thunder & they have a great bench & loads of picks to replace bench players with as they get too expensive & a GM who will probably trade the players he is going to loose for more picks. looks good to me.

Giddey is getting 6 minutes less per game and with Chet's production and JDub's improvement his stats are down a bit but he's improved his 3 point shooting which was a problem at 26% up to 34.5% and also his free throws from 73% to 81%. He's been booes mercilessly on the road due to the allegations but now that that is over that should stop. It clearly affected his play on the road. He's a big part of their success but he's not the key. Chet, SGA and JDub are all the keys to how far OKC can go.
