- We're going to freshen up the leaf springs & shackles on the abandoned tri 5 Chevy build. The springs & shackles need to come out, get inspected, cleaned, painted, new bushings installed & then finally put back on the car. The 1956 Chevy is going to look great with freshly painted suspension.
Here's some awesome Chevy t-shirts!

Here's when we cleaned up the rear axle czcams.com/video/r0AO-bl17oI/video.html
Looks like you have a seamless frame ... very desirable ...
It is. Thanks for watching the videos.
Back in the early 80s I lifted my rear of my 57 properly. I had my leaf springs arced 2' over stock. I do not remember how much it cost, but I am sure it was not much, because I was a college student without much money. They also sold left spring hangers for cheap that would lift the rear. I found some of those at a junk yard to use before I got my leaf springs re-arced.
I had to get my leaf springs re-arced, because they had started sagging from age.
That’s interesting. Thanks for sharing that. I might need to do something with my springs. We shall see.
I've heard people say stress can cause hair loss 😂
It’s hard to avoid at times
California frame. Bonus
This is a great project. I like the focus on just getting things cleaned up, repaired and looking good.
Thanks for the kind words.
That must be a harbor freight press!
It sure is.
Leaf spring may have been worn out letting it run on the shackle, making noise.
Love your videos
That's a good point. I didn't think of that. I guess we will see what happens when we drive the car. I've got an engine on the floor next to the car now. Still a lot of work to do.
Looked like the shackle was on backwards, the curve was turned to the rear, and the pipe was used to keep it from bumping on the mount @@freemansgarage
Nope, I was wrong after looking at it again
Someone on there had a similar problem, prompting my original comment
I think I jammed that socket into the bushing sleeve. Gosh darn it.
Hello 👋👋👋 how are u 🙂 smiles 😁
Excellent explosion video, I could feel the shock waves up here. Nice haircut you got there, would never recognize you shopping at hugo's piggly wiggly now lol.
That’s funny. Had to let the ears breath!
I hate any job that requires a hydraulic press. I didn't have mine pop apart like that, but with a 10 ton unit I was bending those I beams that support the part. for something like this you could get a sawzall blade in there and slice the sleeve.
I see what you’re saying. Next time I should be able to do it much faster. Thanks for watching the videos & for taking a moment to comment.
dont cheap out on the rear leaf springs you will learn why real quick if you snap one between the rear and where its connected in the front the car will veer to the side that snaps uncontrollably
hopefully your moving slow
I understand.
Cut sleeve with a hacksaw.
I most likely will
A guy needs a oxy torch stat
I have one but it’s on the other side of the country
Are those cars still frozen?😂
All thawed out. Videos to come.
I see why you hide your shop press in the back of the garage... it's terrifying.
It is. Need to work on it.
who are you short haired man and what have you done with freeman
I’ve conformed but it will grow back. It was too hot!
@@freemansgarage yeah my mop is growing back too gotta get the weed eater after it
If a guy wanted to send stuff to a guy, where would he send it?
I appreciate the question. Nowhere right now. I need to get a PO Box for Freeman's Garage. I will get one soon & announce it. I will also try to remember to let you know directly through this comment.
@@freemansgarage great
@@freemansgarage hope the lights come in handy. Got tired of seeing you risk your life with shop lights. Who’s videos would we watch then?
Thanks for figuring out a way to send the lights. Hadn't retrieved my mail in weeks until yesterday. They look like something I should've bought years ago. I'll be using them right away. Thank you again for doing that. That was something very nice you didn't have to do. Thank you.
@@freemansgarage You’re welcome. Enjoy your videos and hope your channel grows. Keep up the good work pal!
Who's the guy claiming to be you? Weird.
