@@freemansgarage Im past 70 and have some 4 speeds. However I still run the stock 318 Muncie three speeds. The reason why is we have a pile of those three speeds and I dont cry when I tear one up. However if you use the stock three speed you have to retain the original 4 point factory mounts because the stock three speeds dont have a provision for a motor mount on the transmission tailhousing.

Just subscribed. The motor mounts bolt to the frame horns. and bolt to the bellhousing. Thats is the factory 4 point mounting. We retained the original factory 4 point engine mounts on our 55 two door wagon. We have a video of it on our channel and I show the rear mount and the way to modify them for added strength. Choice of engine depends on your budget and intended use. We have a slightly souped up 283 in our wagon. with a stock 3 speed trans. The 283 is easy to keep in tune and lots of fun.

  • @CAROLDDISCOVER-FINDER2525

Yes they all had a Chevrolet up on the back corner of the rear quarter. Maybe with the exception of the 150. But the only 150 I've ever had was 57 Chevy I still have them. 56 Chevy have a two door hardtop Uncle bought it new been in the family since my dad got it from my uncle my mom drove it and I little kid and they're starting my love for 56 chevys. Next stop is in the mid 80s a horse traded with my dad for the old 56 hardtop and still have it. Along with other tripods I collect those years. I've got 156 Chevy that has around 30,000 original miles but it was sitting outside for the last 40 years! The owner crashed it into a tree and the tree are the telephone pole fell back increased the roof from the front towards the back. Put the back glasses still good. It was my parts car here a two-door post. Never moved it never moved it and then a tree fell diagonally from the driver rear roof side across the doors and smash the roof that away . I had found the shell of a two-door post which had damaged right at the post into the roof not real bad excellent highboy accessory etc. But everything else is out of it it's just a rolling chassis. I can pick it up for a couple of grand and he told me about another 56 that never materialized I could get the parts. But I already had the parts. I never got either one of those two 56's. But I did go down to Abilene Texas and by a four-door 56 within dash factory air and I believe it's a 210 model but it came out of the factory with the Bel Air dash! Why because the car had to be a Bel Air to have in-dash factory air! Well I guess technically they said that it had to be a Bel Air so the guy was able to argue and get more base model with the Bel Air dash and the factory in-dash air. The guy I thought I wouldn't do anything with it wrote me a message on the drive shaft saying good luck and the car's pet name. If he ever gets to you I doubt it. What's your point he's right but I did check it all out and email them back I saw your message and think it's neat and plan to leave it on the car. I thought about taking that two-door post and more this four door into a two door but that tree took care of that. But the four door is really cool it has not been pitted with rust just surface rust to look Brown over the entire car and all the body molding has been taken by the prior owner that's why I bought the car. But the underneath side at least when I got it about 6 years ago the tag on the brake lines were still there from 1956! Well I hunt these things out or at least I used to. I've got another 56 two-door post complete interior except for what's in my stole out of it but the seat is still there and the headliners in decent shape from 1956. It just had a very light impact on Chrome with a snow bank. Always thought I'd make that one into a hot rod it's been on the property here for close to 50 years I got that in the horse trade as well. My dad had bought it originally for parts. My hardtop was running when we parked it cuz I remember taking the battery out of it and then I half dozen years later moving it into the barn send it on about 30 concrete blocks divided between the four corners for proper air movement but it had already rested in a prior 6 years. But the tire slump in the trunk is still in good shape. I don't know what else you might want to know about 56 is. But I don't claim to be an expert just in love with them. That V8 emblem on the back of your truck is interesting because I use the only CM on 57th. I'm 55 they were just above the bumper on the rear quarters and quite small. Be glad to share more stories with you or information. I know where a lot of the stuff is scattered around me country especially in the Midwest and including Texas. Abilene area is always great you can drive down the highway heading west in the Abilene and even go pass out lane all through they just look on either side and see that. Oklahoma Kansas especially South and west. Sorry I got talking about 56 Chevys and even for me this is a long comment,

    • @freemansgarage
      @freemansgarage  Před 2 lety +1

No need to be sorry. I read all of it. It's kind of hard not to type up a storm when talking about 56 Chevys. I was looking through a brochure for 1956 & it does show the Chevrolet badge on the back corner of the rear quarter on all 150 & 210 models. The Bel Air models (2400/240) had the Bel Air badge on the back corner of the rear quarter instead of the Chevrolet badge. It's funny you mention the 56 with air conditioning because I just recently was looking through GM documents & discovered that an air conditioning unit (FOA 110) was available to order as an accessory through the parts & accessories department to be installed by the customer or his dealer. It was available for all 56 models except the one convertible which is the Bel Air 2434 model. Are you currently driving a 56 or they all parked? Thanks for watching the video & for leaving a thoughtful comment.

@@freemansgarage no I've got them all parked. And you're right at Bel Air hardtop I've got as Bel Air back there. See I've got a really base model probably government issues are into 57 Chevy and they have Chevrolet up on the side of the front fender just in front of the front door. Now I've got two door 57 post and it's green just like that four door I mentioned but it's perfect candidate for the Black widow
Clone. Yeah that often you mention kind of rare for AC. Mine is not under the dash it is in the dash! A major score if you're into that kind of stuff. On my boys just looking through probably eBay auction back then and we found it he found it we drove all the way down to I'm going to Abilene Texas which probably closer to you than it is to me. I love Texas we've been all over texas. I was stationed there once in the military. If ever got it to move to a different state, it would be Texas! Now when I think in-dash the ball like vents are in the dash not underneath it. It is four-door. Now there's another CZcamsr you just need to meet. Now in my old phone I have his personal cell phone number is work cell phone number which is his business his business number and his house number. We've never met in person. But he would love to get by my place sometime and do one of his episodes. Just never worked out for the two of us yet. Now in my opinion I've seen a lot better honey holes on his show than mine might be. Now I saw you in the video he might go nothing to be a grandfather I bet she's older than your dad. He's a little older than my dad would be so he's telling his cars some at times.

@@freemansgarage I kind of accidentally sent that but it was getting long anyway. He has every make every model 56 Chevy car that they made! He has them from every manufacturing plant in the US. He has 156 1956 Chevy cars that are done. Anyway at least you did before he started selling them off 3 years ago. Now he has large quantities of other 56 Chevys needing attention. He's up in New England he travels to country. He has Heather make some models but he simply loves the 56 Chevy he has every option except for one and I've got it in that factory air conditioner. Bring them back alive is his CZcams channel if you haven't looked at it and you even like 56 you look at his channel. Now I haven't spoken with them in a little while but he's a really nice guy. He knows of a large number of Honey holes ain't put them on his channel and give them information because people want to sell he'll put names and phone numbers on there for them. I also have a 56 Chevy truck that the last official owner owned it sends 1974. It's a one ton Julie and I believe it has 8 ft or 10 ft bad on it but I've never measured it but can you say tomator clone ? Anyway some other endeavors have taken me away from the cars the moment. But that currently green 56 you brought in look like a real good builder project. Now I know I'll never get to everyone I've collected and some of them passed down through the family. I've already made up my mind that for the right price eating every one of them is for sale if I believe somebody would do something with them . But I'm not really pushing them if they ever sell or don't sell I'm okay. Bring em back alive. That is his CZcams channel. If you're into the tri 5 truck especially the bigger one CTR out there in the northwest and Oregon or is it Washington State I don't remember.
he's a good guy too he's got a very interesting past. But he has used it to try to help others. He's pretty open about it on his channel. I've never been down his road. Unfortunately these two guys are half a country away from you and I. Now just outside of Springfield Missouri there's a yard that sells old cars and parts. I don't call it salvage yard because he's just doing the older cars. He is a great place for parts. I've heard anyway because I've never bought from him. But I know he's heavy into try fives and up through the early 60s Chevys. Right now he's got to beat up all of a 57 two door hardtop for $1,900 minus really anything inside and minus the doors passenger rear quarter is mangled from what looks like a side impact. For 1900 bucks if you want to build a 57 Chevy to a hard time you guys start with one. But that's not really true nowadays people cut down four doors. Okay well are you driving your 56 I'm assuming you have others. But they're too expensive to drive everyday. Haggerty likes me. Well I'll leave it at that.

I watched all of his videos probably over a year ago, but will have to see what he's been up to. I'll keep some of the things you mentioned in mind such as the parts yard. Thanks for doing whatever you did during your time in the military. I'm a veteran as well.

@@freemansgarage I thought about taking a picture of that dash especially where the vents are in the dash. Because the CZcamsr we were talking about said there were a few Chevies made with it but it had to be Bel Air and they had to be approved. I don't understand it thinking back then but some things were reserved for Cadillac then maybe Oldsmobile and Buick in Pontiac I guess just addressed up Chevy in GM's thinking. Although to me it looks more like the Buick and Oldsmobile lines. I don't think I have a gold mine. I just think it's an oddity that's just a conversational piece. I'd be glad to help you find something for your 56 if there's something you need or want. You know the way they mount it the v8s and them completely different than how they do it today. Of course you can make your amounts and use modern medicine as well. Sometime after the early 60s the 283 drop the bolt up position on the front of the block loosely speaking. Of course and 56 that would have been 265. And if it's still available I know where the 265 and The matching cast iron powered transmission period it came out of a four-door hardtop 56. I assume it's a Bel Air. Since my car came home delete radiator engine transmission delete. A little fun with the word delete. I do not have the compressor. I figure out just use modern drivetrain and possibly make the engine look retro as much as possible. But in any case his number of salvage yards that have 56 Chevys especially four doors. Assuming you will build your car on your channel to be interested to see what you do.

She wasn’t as well taken care of as yours. Gonna need an acid/basic dip before moving forward. The entire floor needs replacing. It’s a 2 door post, like yours.

@@tremunique6149 That sounds like a good plan. I wish you the best on getting it done & being able to enjoy it as soon as you can. That's going to be a great combination of parts!

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. :-(!!!!!!
