The fact that the yard logo got instantly destroyed after the stream though
It's got a new home where it's been staying and we have been holding strong!
If it’s a logo about a streamer, the moment they stop, it’ll leave
Yeah I was stoked to see that it got tore down
I was there, R/France and R/Germany band together and just anhillated ludwig... the irony was funny
It really was just the wrong place picked for the logo, there was so much space to use where noone has really established themselves or where only non-art was made, but Lud chose to go for somewhere where not only art was already placed, they also are allied with multiple "factions" plus without the french flag the whole Arte joke would be pointless. No wonder that the Yard isn't gonna hold up in such a place.
The main issue this time around is the lack of any anti-bot measures.
First time around, it was restricted to those with accounts that were made before the announcement. This time, it's not. Why? No fuckin idea.
its cause reddit is going public soon so they want to increase the number of users drastically for when their ipo releases, its kinda scummy but atleast we get to have some fun
idk the exact numbers but reddit is way bigger nowadays than it was back then, meaning I'm sure you can buy a few thousand accounts for comment spamming, and thus there wouldn't really be much point. Also, what Alex said seems reasonable
@@Xethl Definitely a thing, the button was kept alive on bot accounts until the one scheduled for clicking turned out to be shadowbanned.
But at least, that makes it much harder for anyone to try and botnet, and likely requires them to go gray-market and pay for it. With no restrictions, I'm sure anyone skilled enough can whip up a bot that automates the whole stack, instead of requiring a set of purchased accounts.
Also, Reddit moderators are cheating and placing pixels without a time limit
@ancient street cat speaking of bots
4:45 apparently France isn’t actually affiliated with r/France and instead is being led by, funnily enough, streamers.
Which ones?
True
Also I never even assumed that the flags were being backed by specific subreddits like r/France. The designs are usually really simple and lots of people have affiliations with their own nationality so I just assumed they were happening organically.
@@IronicHavoc nah, most have subreddits, its kinda impossible to do anything without coordination in there

The great battle for France will be remembered throughout history. Mizkif, Hasan, XQC, and the entire Spanish community laid siege to northern France yesterday after a failed peace talk. They fought hard and long but ultimately failed and were defeated. France completely obliterated them. I lost many brothers that day that I won’t soon forget.
This. Literally (not figuratively, LITERALLY) the greatest streaming content of the year so far- pretty sure Ludwig was in there as well in the later hours.
Also huge props to General Mizkif for some of the most entertaining stream content through the whole event, including ignoring Russell’s birthday party in his own house to stream Reddit. He was the one bringing together the personalities in calls for nearly all of the best moments. I’ll never forget his face as xQc tells Osu to get f**ked and orders his community to “CONSUUUUUME” their logo in a demon voice, and it turns purple in seconds.
Also the great siege of France, the parlay call with like 80% of active twitch channels by views in one call, and when Ibai got involved for the biggest stream crossover of twitch history… and it was all over this.
Fantastic event, I hope many compilations of highlights are made to remember it forever.
The French were really taking the whole thing to heart, the main French streamer (KemetO?) had 400,000 viewers on his channel yesterday, now that r/place is over, he's down to 35,000.
@@TSZatoichi We are United for event but don't really care mots of the time, for example, ZeratoR reach 700000+ people for Z event and two days after was streaming in front of 10000 people
xQc's winston icon destroyed so much of the smaller communities art, it was really hard for some of them to build back up
Most of them probably can’t even build back up
He also destroyed the Star Wars poster. They managed to get everything back because a ton of other communities wanted to help them, but it was still a dick move to do.
Who cares?
RIP to the small Gon and Killua pixel art the community banded to make. A moment of silence..
Yeah that was the point lmao
The giant France section is also because of two French streamers lmao. So yes streamers are making the experience this time very different. In my opinion, markedly worse

@@Nae_Ayy no pity. I mean, I get it but it’s so unrealistic to get attached to anything in this kind of project. There’s limited real estate, you can’t just say that once all the pixels are used no more art can be made. And you can’t say your art is less deserving of being destroyed than anyone else’s. I truly believe the xQc villain arc was a necessity for r/place. It was such widespread destruction that it let so many new art pieces be made in its place. A constant cycle of death and rebirth. I understand it’s hard to see it that way when it’s your artwork that got destroyed, but to be a constant evolving piece of art means losing something that took time to create in the first place. When you’re not invested in any of the art, people going through and clearing out massive amounts of space makes it far more interesting

He's actually trying again right now but I don't think he'll get anything done. Over the past two days ive seen MAD alliances made PURELY to counter XQC
He wasn’t simply trying to black out art, he was trying to black out art so he could have his own fun F.Y.I.
And in the end, I don't think xQc hadanything on the canvass that he and his community could point to and say "we did that."
@@TSZatoichi He made Zyzz, the rainbow cow, the energy sword, pink floyd logo... Those were left at the end, he made more before that but yea those were gone
We fought off xqc purple and the void-r/Minnesota Vikings
pretty hyped to see how this will end, been working on the canvas myself the whole day for the dutch community
"It's just pixels" is stupid. Obviously there isn't inherent value in pixels, but they have been assigned value by the members of the community to create something cool. Each pixel is a worthless little box of color but they combine to make something that is meaningful to people. Just because it doesn't mean anything to xQc or Ludwig doesn't mean it's worthless. I have never been on r/place, and I don't have any interest in it, but thinking that your lack of investment in something means it is worthless is ignorant and stupid. I think xQc generally acts ignorant and stupid.
And “it’s just pixels” feels like a cop-out to just dismiss r/place, when literally every piece of digital art is displayed in pixels. Video games are “just pixels” too, yet you’ll see malding streamers on twitch under every video game category. Their feelings are valid, so why isn’t r/place?
if you put value in r/place and see it as an important place that defines your identity then you've already lost. you can be invested but to start having temper tantrums over your pixels being replaced when thats the entire point is just wierd. necessary evils like xqc need to exist as there is only so much space on the canvas meaning that even if everyone co-operates , people will have to shrink their land or have it removed in favour of another community and when theres tens of thousands of communities wanting to be featured , its impossible to do that fairly. nobody wants to be the guy that takes land from others but someone must fill that role so people have a chance of making NEW art over the days old unchanged art from the first day.
@@BroMomento69 I don't care about r/place. I just think the argument is stupid.
@@Peter-sn2wg Yeah fair enough. it was moreso targeted towards the crowd that hate any change and despises anyone that even slightly tries to do anything interesting
the whole point is for people to take over stuff from others, if no one did that it'd basically be over in a day. Getting genuinely angry about losing your plot is like raging at losing a match in CSGO.
This is so surreal and bizzare to watch people creating treaties and be mad and everything thats going on. I agree flags and logos are low effort cringe though
I love how obsessed streamers are with r/place. I think it's just a physical representation of their power over others and for everyone involved, just an ego stroke. Like that Xqc discord talk with the OSU devs. It's literally just stroking egos with their fanbases. It's so weird.
The fun part is fighting wars but without any of the deaths
It sounds like you’re taking this way too serious.

the "osu mod" you referenced is a streamer named btmc, he also had like 20k viewers that day
The real Edward "BeasttrollMC" Yung Ling
as a member of the osu! community, this shit is big. An up and coming player taking the #1 spot from the longest reigning #1 player (555 days at #1), had ~20k viewers. BTMC (the guy talking to xqc) had 13.5k viewers which is insane. they made a browser extension for people to download to show the correct colors of each of our and our allies logos’ pixels. People take this stuff really seriously. The osu! logo is the most contested place on the map overall I think as well.
i barely remember the last one and i'm super glad they did it again. these kinds of things are some of the coolest
This pretty much epitomises what internet culture is lol.
my opinion: just like 2b2t, if your hard work gets destroyed, you put it there, knowing fully that it has the potential to be destroyed so people should get over it
Exactly. dont make art on r/place if you dont want it to be replaced innevitably. most people who go there just dont understand that its not a permanent static canvas and that your supposed to defend your art or move elsewhere.
2b2t is there for like 10 years or more, rplace is a place that is open just for 3 days, of course people want to put their things into it.
@@BroMomento69 i think sometimes there is a good reason for botting. TARGETS. many groups are targeted by streemers. and these groups NEED bots to survive. even if they have 1K people, it doesn't matter becuase the stremers LOVE to target the spesific communities art.
You should take art submissions from small communities on Reddit and place them over flags. Would be dope as hell
Germany actually puts a lot of "typical german stuff" art on their flag
This, like wtf? A good example would be the large as Freak squad logo. These streamers DONT EVEN USE REDDIT and they come on and think they deserve a spot that big? Not to mention they built over literal flags of unity (ASEAN) and destroyed symbols of anti-oppression (TUMINDIG)

The thing with the flags is they're allowing other art on them, they're really just the background (speaking as an r/Ireland user). We welcome pixel art from communities on our backdrops. Just negotiate it beforehand instead of plonking down on it :D
Some of the flags have great art on them. The UK and Turkey flags are not too big and have some great art on them that represent the country. The US flag would have some cool art if it wasn't raided constantly
The trans flag people have also started making the cool shit
dont forget the german flag everyone likes to shit on them but they create nice art many in cooperation with other communitys
You’re the only streamer that is 100% sane. No attacking arts, no large ego, and you’re fighting for a cause most of the community agrees with. Thank you so much! We love you!
LUDWIG OUR FRIEND!!!!
Calm down ya parasocial andys
This canvas is like a war for territory and everyone is fighting and making alliances to get extra space on a pixel canvas
my favourite thing was the manifolders convincing xqc that france wanted to attack him
I don’t really think there’s going to be any agreement on the correct way to draw streamers logos, but the way I see it it’s just another community showing their passion. And I guarantee even if xqc’s logo was made on a blank bit of canvas it would be removed instantly, just like the ones that his community is removing
This isn't true simply put. So many communities, ones that aren't botting and ones without streamers were able to create and keep thier art through negotiation, making allies, and team work. Hermitcraft is basically the poster child for this. They have a small piece they're happy with, and there were maybe 50 people actually coordinating at a time. They allied with those around them, they caught off and redirected GME, they finally even got to ally with Brazil. All they did with negotiate and help others in need and now I can almost guarantee. They'll be there at the end.
Then there's the DreamSMP. Way bigger fandom but their streamers didn't really co-ordinate them or help in the same way at first. But they were able to fight off their spot from really powerful enemies attacking them near-constantly in the first day.
The foolish/Karl/Sapanp/Tina mural which, while the creators were problematic no doubt about it, is still there and standing after at least 2 days.
And you're telling me XQC never could have had a chance to put his logo down and keep it? I agree that right now it's out of the question and he's gonna have to throw it in last minute but it absolutely could have been done if he had just used his sheer numbers to focus on making it and maintaining it. Easily.
so we got the minecraft streamers (quackity, tubbo, jack manifold),hasan, miZ and the french and spanish streamers all teaming up rn. THIS IS A LITERAL WAR
As a member of the chargers Reddit I’m so happy that we have our own little corner
As an anecdote a good thing that came out of flags is that some of them gave refuge to small communities. In the Disco Elysium community we were overtaken by Portugal but ended up in an alliance, they integrated us into the flag and helped us rebuild and protect in a mutual agreement.
To be fair though, the flags are also used to make cool art on them like you can see on the top side of the map and part of the reason for the extension in the bottom half is to create more space for art by them
Imagine looking at the Belgian flag, ignoring all the artwork on it, and calling it German ...

Sorry to anyone offended but this is the equivalent of graffiti just on the internet, it is very normal for respected artists/individuals to go over others' work in pursuit of a bigger more extravagant piece (the unwritten rule is that it is better than the one you covered). That is part of the art!
Also it’s a silly little internet joke and people getting genuinely offended about how it’s going down need to perhaps touch some grass

Seeing groups of people come together? What streamers are doing ain't really different to the (as mentioned) flags, or even the anime panels and memes
