- Martin, diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in 2015, talks about how his life has been affected by cancer-related fatigue. Martin experienced fatigue as an initial symptom of his lymphoma, during chemotherapy, and after his treatment finished. In this video, he describes how this felt for him and talks through some of the ways he coped with it.

I've been in remission for five years . My treatment was a shock to the system but I'm so grateful I was able to get through it . Life is for living dont dwell on the past . Most of all be happy & smile .xxxx
I'm glad i came accross this video. The fatigue is so taxing, head wants to do things but body doesn't.

This makes me feel less alone. I have fatigue from B cell non hodgkin lymphoma and felt angry with myself because I felt like I was being lazy. I am trying to be less harsh with myself.

How you feel now? My husband lately is real tired his wbc still low 2.9. He got blood transfusion and it didn't work. He feel so sad...he want to do things for me but he can't. We suppose to go on vacation. But he got this cancer and cough all the time that we can't go no where. We worked so hard for this retirement and look. I'm so depressed😢
Thank you. I am going through chemo for NHL. i appreciate your telling it like it is. Psychologically speaking, facing this life altering event plus the physical trauma is tough stuff. I am a small framed 69 year old lady. I have taken good care of myself, luckily, because it has hit me hard. I hope I can survive this.I have a lot to live for.Going on Rchop #4. Previous to chemo my body is so sensitive that I could not drink one cup of coffee or one glass of wine without getting really sick. Wishing you the best of health and happiness.
Just listened to your story Martin, we could be twins, my fatigue is awful. Was awful even before I started chemo and is still bad. Thank you for being so forthright, its helped me a lot knowing what lies ahead. You read things and think "Probably not happen to me" somehow we think we'll be different. My husband watched it with me and its given him an insight to Lymphoma. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, its really helped me come to terms with my diagnosis.

Thanks! I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma stage 4b in 2018 and was in remission until this month. But the tiredness never wore off. It may be that I also have COPD, but not bad. Just wish people could understand that cancer wipes out your energy.

In November 2023 I was diagnosed with stage 3 extra nodal marginal zone lymphoma, I had a mass on my tongue and a lump in my neck, I had just given birth, I had some radiotherapy in February 2024 to try shrink the tumour in my mouth as it was starting to obstruct my airway, I am awaiting a PET scan in two weeks to see if the radiotherapy has worked, and to see if I need more treatments for the other areas affected. The fatigue is unreal and with a baby it’s just so hard. I’m happy you are in remission, it gives me hope ❤

Thank you, I have just been diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and the fatigue is kicking my butt. I have tried fighting it, and have feel guilty about it. I feel better knowing that this is common. Thank you again.

Hello How you feeling now? My husband feel tired, coughing nauseated, he always feel bad. I don't know what to do..I will retire soon..I want to be with him..
This is what I am worried about. I am always tired. Have been on antibiotics five times between October and April. Now I have fungus on my toes. I rely on my faith to get through the day. Will be seeing a new doctor soon. Terrible headaches that out me in the Emerg often.
it might be a bacterial infection hope it's not cancer for you I've never heard of fungus on toes for any cancer so I think it's really some infection/bug/maybe even a parasite.
Hi Martin your story is very interesting and helpful for me, I was diagnosed with low grade non hodgkin lymphoma in December 2018 I started my chemo January 2019 and I was getting it every 3 weeks I've had 8 lots of chemo which finished in August and now I'm getting maintenance treatment every 8 weeks for next 2 years and I've had 4 lots maintenance treatment, the fatigue is my biggest problem and sometimes I can't even make the effort to get dressed or even go out, I've definitely got the chemo legs and chemo brain as I can go into the kitchen and forget what I went in for,

I had the same treatment , it was scary when the rituximab finished . I gave myself a good talking to & my medical team where an amazing support to me . Take your time dont put yourself under any pressure . Take care .

It's alittle like your safety net is taken away to begin with , but you stay strong some times not the easiest of things to do . Don't worry about the small stuff . Do what you enjoy in life .

I'm in the diagnosing stage, and the fatigue and weakness are horrendous! At times I don't even have the energy to lift my arms, and there are days I can't get out of bed. It's a very nasty feeling....

I completed my chemotherapy last April 12. Did my first post PETScan 45 days later. Doctors say Its neither good nor bad ; but I fall in the middle which is fine ! I’ll have another PETScan 3 months from now in August to see if I’ve improved or not. I’m always fatigued Martin ! I can’t do much . I do yard work and after 5 minutes I’m spent …. Wobbly legs, and shortness of breath.

Nikki, same thing for me. I saw the doctor on Friday. He is concerned. The symptoms really are terrible. I found out today that I am scheduled for body scan on Monday, along with blood work. He said something about a bone marrow test. I know that is miserable. Not looking forward to it. Bless you. I comment here because you have the same name as my niece.

@@CarmenGarcia-bu3so I am currently in remission at least thats what the doctors say, I got lucky as we found out really soon thanks to my mom as she noticed lumps on my neck :)
My hubby had lyphoma for 1 year. He is doing bad..fatigue, ect ect.. wbc real low. Gave them blood transfusion Not working. Sucks.cancer

My bloods never really showed anything too strange but I had lumps in my neck. I then had a biopsy on these and thats when I got my diognosis.
Martin Cooke hi martin, based on ur story, ur major first symtomps was fatique, I want to ask, when the first day u got that fatique, did the the lump showed up? when ur lump showed after the fatique hits u for over monthss
@@dicephalous9076 I found a lump in my face before I had noticeable fatigue. It's different for everyone.
Blood work doesn't usually show anything with NHFL. It's usually the symptoms. Either finding a questionable lump, drenching night sweats, unexplained weight loss, weakness and/or crushing fatigue, fever, possibly anemia, which vary for each person. I found a lump in my face in late 2018, before I had any other noticeable symptoms. CTs showed about 7-8 other affected nodes in my body, but so far indolent, not yet needing treatment, because other than the crushing fatigue, I don't have enough other symptoms yet.

Get HRT because you are probably lacking afterwards. And probably before as well.
