- Let's not fall into the trap of thinking the grass is always greener on the other side. Whilst I feel like the idolatry of marriage is something we see more often in Christian circles, I also think we're being lead astray in thinking singleness can fully satisfy us too. So let's talk about it.

Love the biblical references at the beginning…. Not idolising marriage is freeing, because you can actually start focusing on living your life rather than looking for a husband or preparing for a husband.. which is what I did throughout my 20s … don’t be like me 😅 #HappySingle
The timing of this video is impeccable 👏🏾🙌🏾👌🏾... Not thirty seconds ago, I got off the phone with my sister, and we were talking about the public framing of singleness vs being married... It's a little annoying to me that single vs married is so often treated as 👉🏾levels👈🏾 rather than 👉🏾routes👈🏾... It's not a matter of climbing a ladder, where the top rung is marriage, and singleness is everything *beneath* ... (and by default) rendering everything outside of marriage *less than* marriage... It's more like-- just bc I didn't go to New York, doesn't mean I can't go to Los Angeles, and have just as much fun as someone who decided to go to NYC
Well said
Yes!!!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Very well said
Exactly 💯
I'm glad this came on my feed. I am single and have been since I was 20 (now 26) and I lately started feeling like maybe something was wrong with me and felt overly pressure by everyone else to find a boyfriend to marry or I'll be a "leftover" even though I didn't want too. I'm a late bloomer and so I think I started idolizing marriage in a wrong way of just having someone but then I realize, I have no idea what goes into a marriage and am I even ready for that? No! So I will continue to keep embracing my singleness until I fulfill what God has in store for me and the right person will come along on the journey. Love this video
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Sister in Christ. Please keep dropping gems. The Lord is using you. No one discusses purpose and the reason God placed them here. But marriage in being shoved down throats as if singleness is a deficit. I do desire to be married one day but I am in no way less than because I am single.
Both being married and single are so important. God used marriage to show me that singleness is the best way for me, for sometime been alone and I love being alone. It’s so rejuvenating and peaceful even though I of course wish to find my divine match ❤
Thanks for this informative video. I think social media glamourises romantic relationships, wedding photos and valentines 💝 day rhetoric and deceives us into believing these things are the only way to enjoy life.
You're in your content creation era! Love to see it. ❤️
This is so crazy. Like just 5mins ago i was journalling just about this topic.
While we may not physically give away our gold and jewelry to create an idol, I do feel this still applies in the spiritual, mental, and social sense.
Many of us have given up important parts of ourselves such as personality (example: acting more “feminine” and embracing less of who we are to try and appease someone else). Also, thinking that we need to fix how we look, giving up sewing to friendships, and sacrifice our mental health, our relationship with Christ because we want the physical manifestation of what many desire the most in life: marriage. Sometimes we even covet those who have marriage, which is a struggle that I believe is a form of idolatry since we have such a myopic view on what God is doing. Where we end up falling in traps of despair because we’re only focusing on what we lack rather than what has been provided. It’s a constant battle.
If there's something Courtney Daniella Boateng is gonna do, it's PREACHHHHHHH!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Courtney never misses 🧚🏽♀️✨
Wow girl, you’re a really good teacher
For anyone who wants more clarity, please do a deep dive on 1 Corinthians 7:32-34. Singleness and marriage is clearly defined based on what it prioritizes. As someone who is intentionally single, I am learning that being single really above being married gives a better spiritual connection and growth, if the opportunity is seized. I think on both sides it depends on your motive. I’m unlearning the assumption that God only blesses those who are married or with children and everyone else seems to be the remnants. Ladies recognize the motive for your choice and remember that pleasing God not yourself should always be an anchor. ❤❤❤
Amen
This message is key!! Thank you Courtney so much for the messages. I wished I heard this in 2019 as I definitely felt pressured to get married from family and I also desired and idolised Marriage due to my biological clock ticking which ended in dating men below my standards. Now life is definitely lifeing. I have a beautiful gift of my daughter but I definitely regret falling into pressure from family and myself, still unmarried. I prefer the word unmarried than single as even when your married your single being an individual. Thank you so much for this beautiful message and I know that there is substance in myself, I am God’s daughter first before anything else ❤and I’ve got lessons to teach my daughter when she grows up to be a young lady. ❤❤❤❤🎉 Thank you xxx
Can peace become an idol too ? Thank you so much for this video❤❤🙏

We have almost the same story in the Quran about the children of isreal melting their gold and making a calf idol. We as Muslims believe in the same God as you Christians however we do not make Jesus an idol rather we believe he is a noble prophet who told his people to worship God alone with no partners (idols). Unfortunately Christians took Jesus as an Idol alongside God believing he is God's son. God has no children, he is capable of all things and He alone deserves to be worshiped, this was the true message of Jesus to his people.
Jesus is not an idol in Christianity. He is our savior who died for our sins and you can only get to God through him. Only blood can wash away sin and His blood on the cross washed away our sin. Our God does not contradict Himself. Either your book is right or ours and I wholeheartedly believe the Bible is correct.
No Jesus is God and died for our sins not an idol. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. How about you do real research instead of spewing hatred towards our precious Lord Jesus.
@@deesott5123 If you believe I'm spreading hatred to Jesus then I feel sorry for you. As Muslims we love Jesus and believe he is a noble prophet of God. And sins can be forgiven just by sincerely regretting what you did and asking God directly for forgiveness, no 3rd party needs to be involved because we have a direct connection to God because He hears and sees all things.
@@nnonno3954 So how did people before Jesus was born get their sins forgiven and how did they get to God before Jesus was born?
Since the dawn of time, since Adam and Eve were created God was always worshipped alone with no 3rd party to get to him, and He would always send prophets to remind people of this. But unfortunately the devil has convinced people to take idols besides God (and a 3rd party is an idol because God does not need an intercessor for you to speak to him or ask him for forgiveness, our connection with him is direct)
@@starlight099 In the old covenant, God accepted the sacrifice of animals (perfect and without blemish) as atonement for sin. God gave something much better and that was his son Jesus on the cross. Jesus' birth and death were prophesized in the old testament. He was the perfect sacrifice as he did not sin. The blood of animals is no longer acceptable. You don't have to believe in Jesus, it is a choice we are all given. But knowing that death is eternal, I would not take that chance you are willing to take.
Thank you for this video! 🫶🏾
