- Well, what should happen is - the doors don't open unless you push and hold the door open button, and the car won't go to a destination unless you hold the button in.

on fire mode, you have to hold the open button. the door stay close to protect fireman from flames
And the doors close as soon as you let go of the button incase the landing is in flames its known as peekaboo doors lol

To mrmattandmrchay Would you say that the elevator you did the demo in or the Express lift across the hallway is a little faster?
When the doors close for the second time (after holding and releasing the door open button) the lift appears to move very slightly (1cm), and after this this when the problem occurs. The car is still situated within the door zone, so the doors recycle.

The control works a bit differently on lifts with switches such as this. The fire service is automatically operated by the fire alarm, and the switch turns on stage 2, fireman's control. This may a reason why the controller got confused as stage 1 was never activated.
Did you ever get the lift running again? I wonder what would have happened if you turned off the fireman's switch? And what on earth made it act so strangely?
WestCoast Elevators Let me say that, we exited the building asap LOL. I'd like to go back there actually, but this is far away from where I live. What made this? I don't know, I think that the lift is so old that the doors require a 'bang' shut to close the contact. If don't open the doors enough, then this does not generate enough force when they shut (not enough momentum). Unless you try the fire function, then the doors will always start shutting from being fully open, so I suppose you would never get this problem! I also assume that, if the door doesn't latch shut within a certain time, then the lift locks out. It's an old lift, so it probably required resetting and doesn't have an automatic 'retry' system.
Switching it off the lift should return to normal service its in the British standard

it may have been the shunt trip which goes off when heat is detected in the mechanical room or shaft it may have been faulty OR if there is more than one elevator in the lobby you should check if all of them go down to the lobby if not there’s an issue AND behind the panel there’s fire controls which have a light that indicates if there’s an issue
If you listen closely, between 0:23 and 0:34, you can hear crickets, but if you play FIFA 17 or FIFA Mobile, it may sound like the title screen/ menu song. If you don't play Fifa, you just might recognize it as Paper Route - Chariots.
The one you did the demo on seemed to have been added after the express one across the hall because it was less beat up
Yes I agree. The one at the back was left as it's not used as much as the front one maybe.
Well it only makes sense because fire service came out in 1973 and it is possible that it was upgraded at a later time

Is that an express lift?
Remember to hold to door open button when your in fireman mode. If you push the button once you might break the lift
Did you go back in and set the lift to its normal running mode? If so, did it help?
Still too bad you did not get stuck and needed rescue, that would have been an even better video to post!
I have been stuck twice. Once when only the inner doors opened but they did not catch onto the outer doors so i had to push the outer ones open and once by abusing the emergency stop as call cancel to get an express ride. I was in a door zone so i got stuck and needed a rescue. No video phones back then...
Was the lady at the end with you? Or was it some poor stranger trying to use the lift you’ve just broken?

SwordSweeper127 the reason is that if the firefighters want to go to a floor and they see fire they can immediately go to another floor sometimes they have an emergency stop button. The reason for the doors is so that when a firefighter gets to a floor to look for fire he doesn't want them open for like 2 minutes and so if there is fire he can immediately close it and drop down

The car should stop with the doors staying shut then return to the ground floor (if that is the designated floor) and then switch over to car preference control.

1st Off, The Fire service is just a switch not a key switch, 2 You need to operate by Inserting a key in and turn it to on, This will Recall the elevator, Turn the key to on in the car, Then Select the floor and close until the door closes Completely, If you made a mistake on a floor turn the elevator FS Off Or press the Call Cancel Button, If you are in the floor, Press the open until it complete fully, If you want to disable it you must turn the elevator to bypass and turn it off, Same for the floor level.

Needs fixture all those elevator, what purpose cease up to the stuck operating for elevators at all times! That's not good enough elevators improvement test isn't.
