this gives so many memories of when i was 10 years old the music may have played for between 3 or 5 minutes on my wii u, but it played for countless hours in my head, mostly when i was bored in class this may not be my favorite 3d mario game, but it's a game i really enjoyed
That part blew my mind when I heard it for the first time. It felt like it truly was the height of the struggle. It sounds a lot like the "Mars: Bringer of War" composed by Gustav Holst for the suit "The Planets," the same song that inspired Super Mario Galaxy and Star Wars.
Nintendo's composers *REALLY* like Holst, apparently, since he's a clear inspiration for the Galaxy soundtrack, which makes perfect since he wrote that epic suite for "the Planets" which also inspired John Williams when he composed for Star Wars. Because this soundtrack also sounds a lot like Galaxy in some parts, it's clear that Holst was a huge inspiration for this one, too! Those stabbing strings at the end are so intense! I love it!
@@josephb.4640 Haha same here!! The string parts in this cue (particularly the violins) are one of my favourite aspects of this as well. Well said entirely mate.
@@Sean-qg3gg - Thank you for the compliment! Honestly, I don't know too much about Holst. Sorry! I've listened to "The Planets" before and it's an *incredible* performance. The first piece, "Mars, Bringer of War," is usually the one people seem to remember most because it's so powerful, militant, and epic. I forgot to mention that the long opening notes of that piece also inspired the Airship Theme all the way back in Super Mario Bros 3. "The Planets" was written just before WWI and is based on the personalities of the Roman pagan gods, for whom the planets are named. I am a history major, so you can probably ask me other questions that I will have the answer for! (Like the origin of Friday the 13th or something; in terms of famous composers, I can tell you that Bach invented major and minor and also had 23 children.)
when doing the final level as Peach, or Toad This is one of those Rare times they fight Bowser alone on screen when the Mario Bros. are not present, as they get to become the heroes for once.
The music REALLY adds the tension as you make your way up to the top of the tower to deliver the final blow to Bowser and saves all the Sprixies!
It’s Meowser
@@GarrettSmith-kk7dhYes and Meowser is Bowser, therefore you deliver the final blow to Bowser.
The inspiration from Mario Galaxy in this song is insane and I will forever love it
They really need to make galaxy 3
@@novustalks7525 but only if they get the orchestra back
Nintendo went all in for what is essentially an auto-scroller climb just to ruin Bowser's bug collection.

Same!
It was the first Mario game a played. Note it was mainly with my brothers help because I was like 5y old.
I love the first 30 seconds
IKR! The suspense is real!!!
Just a shame it's wasted on a platform with 2 goombas and a jump pad
1:28 hits HARD
THE CLIMAX PF BOTH THE SONG AND THE TOWER.

I love the quasi-Holst inspiration towards the end of this piece, before the loop activates in-game.

@@josephb.4640Wow, that’s an amazing history lesson. Anything else Holst is notable for?

@@josephb.4640 Well, I’d be impressed if you can make my interest peak past the fact that it inspired the Airship Theme!
This is genuinely the best song in the game
0:18 makes you feel so triumphant and determined and it sounds so good
I'm so glad I found this song again on YT after it was taken down by Nintendo.
This song is so nostalgic to me, I can't even explain it in words
Really gives off the feelings of "you're almost there" and "you can do it"
It’s so sad that this boss theme has been forgotten, just like odyssey’s.
I hate how right when the song gets good, it becomes the most forgettable song in existence
The Mario galaxy vibes hit hard
0:46 - 1:40 I just realized this is from Mario Galaxy. Look up Battlerock Galaxy. They sound very similar
That is the music I would listen to if I would be climbing a mountain
Good idea!
Imagine this song plays in Madagascar 3 when it is the final battle scene
who's here from the wildly pointless jacksepticeye-mrbeast drama
Me too, I thought I recognized the song they used…
This was my favorite Mario music!

マリオギャラクシー感あってめちゃくちゃいい
This it was the last level that i completed to get the final stamp the Rosalina special stamp and getting the 100% :D
