  • What a rollercoaster of a journey I've had with this ‪@Philips‬ device. I filmed this on Sunday, ‎23 ‎October ‎2022, so I've had 5 months and to be fair this isn't something you can review five minutes out of the box.
It lives in the room with the black mould, and after five months over winter, I can confirm that the mould HAS NOT RETURNED!! So this instantly gives this device high marks!
The heat, the cooler, the filter... All do exactly what they are meant to do.
    So from a remote-controlled point of view, it's a 5*****.
Now let us talk about the APP. During the video review, I tried everything this ICT Technician could think of. It would not shake hands with the APP.
In December when online looking for answers I had the craziest idea... Seeing people having issues with the Samsung Z-Fold series, maybe if I did not open the phone??? So I tried and tried and tried and for a moment I thought I had cracked it! They connected! I quickly navigated to the timer options and set an AM wake-up to heat option.
Success! Every morning I wake to heat... Nice. Then the app did an update or something. Bye-bye app and then a week later the heat stopped waking me up and that was that.
It's March now and I've been unable to reconnect.
So on that note, I give this a 4****. Maybe if the app is fixed I would put it back to a 5. Remember, this is not a cheap bit of kit costing over £500!
But the Black Mold has gone and it's safer to sleep in that room again.

    Hi Dax,
    Many thanks for this review!!
I have just bought this device for really hot summer days and wonder how to lower down the temperature to 18 degrees for instance? I am lowering it down with a remote, but what do I press to confirm?
    Thank you!

Hi, I have a look for you when I get home. I'm sure (Off the top of my head) you can select each of the three options
1 - Both back and front fans 'COOL' , (Air purifier mode).
2 - Back and front 'HEAT' IT WILL HAVE A RED ICON ON THE DEVICES SCREEN,
3 - The front fan only fan 'HEAT or COOL'.
When you turn on the system the number on showing is the heat of the room. So in the heat mods you can go up or down using the room temperature as your baseline. Down to cool, up for heat. I will come back to you when I return home!!

    Hello!
Could you please let me know if you would recommend this for someone who finds the fan function also extremely important?
I am looking for a fan plus air purifier combo and when it comes to this, most people only comment on how good the purifier is which is great but I would like to know how good the cooling function is and if its worth to invest that much money in it... summer is here and I would like to use this also for cooling the room. Thank you!

Hi, It's hot where I live at the moment. A mini Heatwave. I have fallen to sleep every night with this at the end of my bed, with it rotating left and right.
There are a full set of fan speeds to choose from. I have had it on a low speed (About 4) as it keeps me cool and isn't too loud.
The only thing I find strange is that it never remembers the last temperature I set it to (Via Remote, I still have had no luck with the APP).
Each day I turn it on and it auto-sets to the heat to the heat of the room. A red light - Line on the display can be seen. Turn it down and the Light changes to Blue.
eg, Yesterday my room was showing as 23c and I pressed it down to 18c. It kept my room at that temperature all night. If the room began to heat up, the unit auto-cools it to that exact temperature.
      Pretty cool (No pun intended).

Hey Dax can you tell me whether or not this device actively cools the air in summer as well as heating it in the winter? It's for a windowless attic office and in the summer it gets hooooot!

    • @dax79reviews
      @dax79reviews  Před rokem +3

Definitely. Ive been using it now during hot days and cold days. You can set it off rotating and it cools or heats the room well.
It also filters the air. The Black mold I was trying to get rid of hassent come back, so its defiantly doing something!
Perfect for a windowless room :)

I bought it last year and used it quite a lot (never changed the settings though) before putting it aside in winter. Now I connected it again... app doesn't start (smartphone says there's a bug), so I removed and downloaded it again... doesn't find the machine. I had the app send me a code 8 times as the only button I could press starts the set up again (the word 'connected' appeared and disappeared, but no purifier to be seen, going back started everything anew and pushing the button sent an email with a new code). 😱😱 The remote: USELESS!!!!! The on/off button is the only button that makes sense, the up and down arrow just changes the fan strength. I could no longer change temperature. Hey Philips, people may have the manual with them on startup, and pressing several buttons (at the same time) may not be a hindrance then, but it's supposed to be USER FRIENDLY when people take it out of the closet too. I spent an hour yesterday pushing everything without knowing what I was doing. It did about everything except change temperature. This is a bloody expensive piece of ..., at least make an app and a remote that works!!!!!! I'm really pissed!🤬🤬

So im not the only one who carnt use the APP. Ive given up on it. Just curious, are you Apple or Android. I get the feeling its an Adroid issue as we are all on difreve versions of the APP.
And you are 100% correct about the "Sega Mega Drive" combos to change settings. I did the same when winter came, could not remember the combo to change from my Summer settings.
      Great feedback :)

@@Dax79 I'm using Android too. One more thing I could add: my sight isn't good, so the 'drawings' on the remote buttons (outside the power button) are just unrecognizable to me. When pushing buttons, I see things change on the screen of the purifier itself, but I also can't make out what they are! Using this thing in my case is more or less pushing something and waiting if cold or hot air comes out of it.

Yes. All my smart home devices only work on the 2.4GHz network. I've been trying to connect it for months now and have come to the conclusion it is the location of the device.
I will test it downstairs soon but with my back out I'm not carrying it downstairs! to heavy for me.
But it's great you pointed out the 2.4GHz situation as I thought I had covered that but it must have made its way to the cutting room floor.
