    Retired now but I got involved in fighting to preserve motorized access since 1974. I'm also the only founding member of the Blue Ribbon Coalition still living.
    The biggest challenge has been and still is getting mechanized recreationists and the power sports industry politically and financially nvolved in fighting for their rights to access public lands. Its unfortunate.
    It will never change.

    I don't live in Utah, but I am an avid outdoorsman in NC, (I used to live in AZ and CO, but the Army brought me to beautiful NC where the mountains are hills and the sky is small, but it is till beautiful here). I have submitted my comments to the BLM. I do hope that our lands stay open to us. Thanks Eric and all at Rocky Mountain ATVMC for bringing this issue to the forefront. You have my support and hopefully someday soon I will take my KTM 390 Adventure into some Utah back country. Love y'all for what you do!

    I like that you not only present one side of a debated topic but also tells us exactly how to vote. It removes all the critical thinking and all we have to do is blindly follow. I’m glad the BLM reasons for closing the roads weren’t discussed, nobody wants to know why anyway.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 5 dny

      From the PLPCO Website:
      "The BLM defines a TMP as a comprehensive travel and transportation management plan including a wide ranging analysis considering the access needs of public lands users. Access needs are evaluated in conjunction with BLMs legal mandate to protect natural and cultural resources on public lands. Routes included in the TMP will be analyzed in [and] through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process. Federal law requires specific evaluation and designation for public motorized uses, referred to in regulation as off highway vehicles (OHVs).
      TMP closures by the BLM mean less access to public lands for all users. The State of Utah believes in providing the most access for all users of all ages and abilities, so the State opposes closing any existing access to public lands."
      Essentially it's the actions of a minority of people on these trails that are affecting everyone.

    This is a trend that really needs to be stopped considering that your tax money is going to towards closing it down or keeping it open. The problem is that by the time you hear about this kind of radical closer it's already been germinating in Congress for years and decisions are already made. Most of these places are so remote (by civilized standards) that I can't understand who you're bothering by being out there. The ecological impact of ohv activity in a desert is practically zero, and certainly less than just about anywhere else with higher water table. What is the point of closing the trails? I don't even understand who it appeases. What was/is the problem that is solved by restricting access to the most barren, inert, otherwise useless land from the people who cherish it?

      @@Ginja211 I'm not a biden fan - but - I think where the 4x4 "community" is unaware / "Cool story bro" is around the topic of the 30x30 and great UN plans. This is being done not "just" in the US - but everywhere. Basically they want to herd you into the WEF 15 minute cities - and have a longterm plan to create "corridors" of wilderness that nobody can use for ANY purpose - it's to be preserved for the ultra rich/elites/or your fave term: "Stakeholders".
      I would encourage people to look into this plan - it was an executive order signed on DAY ONE of the Biden admin.
      Personally I think it's stupid/non-productive to get into the "debate" of Dem vs. Republicans. NEITHER of them give two $hits about the working class majority as BOTH are in bed with eachother and the losers running the 600 Corporations that donate to the NGO's that push legislation you've never heard of until you get to see the symptoms of the problem years later.
      Think of it like this: A Mafia where 600 Corporations send money to NGO's in order to avoid tax liability - then - those NGO's payoff BOTH sides of "DADDY" (yes - ALL caps!) Gov't. This is why there is NEVER any change that actually helps your typical 9-5 people that are not afraid of REAL ACTUAL WORK.
      The sellout LOSERS in power (who also struggled with women in high school) want you and others debating dems/repubs so you "FEEL" that your vote matters. Your "vote" is where you shop and who you work for. That's it!

    The BLM's new way of submitting comments is very frustrating. They want you to identify the individual roads you use, tag how you use them, and then provide your comments. This is so specific that it would make it incredibly time-consuming to highlight an area you wanted to prevent road closures within.
