Shadow hey um the thing that bothers me just please try to take some cinematic captures kind of like what pixlated apollo does basicly take some time to enjoy watching the battle because most poeple can agree it is fun watch a battle take place not watch someone play it.
it was a good bet, they are French afterall

makes me hard.

Deadshotbrah gameing I love to see good people who all ready have good experience it's just so entertaining 😃😃😃
Napoleon Total War has the best music of the total wars in my opinion.
Rome 1 I think is best by far
Medieval 2 had great music too.
franklin clinton I agree, but it has so few tracks that I prefer later games' soundtracks
Dylan Santora Battle music annoys me so much I dont know why,but everything else is great.
Can't beat Rome 1

I remember when I played as Russia and conquered the whole map, without NATO to stop me it wasnt too hard.
Russia is just great with no winter losses
Denis Merlevede And the easiest starting position evar
Congratulations. Stalin came a distant second by conquering half the map.
That is because Russia has winter. Oh and like an unlimited supply of men to throw at your enemies.
lots of people have winter
Some people are just so fucking arrogant and overconfident they don't bother to come prepared.
And ~150 million population in the USSR in the 30's/40's wasn't exactly "unlimited"
Thank you SO MUCH for this. I got addicted to Rome Total War on my iPad and that’s what introduced me to the series. This is a nice beginners tutorial for the Napoleon set. Please keep doing what you do!
Empire and Napoleon are my all time favorite TW games and I know I'm prolly in a minority but I'm so glad you finally decided to play this! Thanks Legend!
YOU ARE RIGHT finally someone who takes my view
"That is a huge victory. We've changed the course of history."
See, that's what separates run-of-the-mill replay videos from engrossing, cinematic joygasms like this: a grander context. You're not just playing a game, you're rewriting history, telling a great story. I've watched a lot of replay videos and subscribed to a fair few gamers who do them, but only a couple have really kept my attention like this.
Ugh king that joygasm was so great 😩😩😩
Like Julianus Vatinias of the Roman Empire. Don't remember who it was that played it but I remember the Emperor was an archer in the beginning and conquered Europe at 80~ years old.

Finally Legend! I've been waiting so long for this campaign !!
I really like the new direction your channel is going Legend, much more fun content
Great to see some Empire/Napoleon, only TW I've never played and it's refreshing to have a change of pace.
been a long time fan and decided to go back to an old video and even 5 years ago ur vids were great
Damn, is a sorry shame that accordingly to him this kind of videos didn't had enough views, i enjoy this so much more than the usual livestreams/videos he does today.
This video is in his top 5 most popular videos ironically
Legend says, "It more fun when I win!" Well Legend you never lose just watch your Mayan campaign you never lost.
I am so pumped for this episode
This was my first total war. So many memories, from winning a battle from the top of a tall mountain (it was the only time I ever recall seeing such a huge mountain) to getting a mod which unlocked the Kingdom of Sardinia in the grand campaign so I could start the unification of Italy early.
what the name of the mod?
@@marcelob.678 Darth Napoleon zi think
Likely the Darth Mod
This game has one of the best total war soundtracks ever in my opinion. The menu theme is so good.
Btw if you are on a town siege you can use your skirms to place stakes in front of your artillery to protect from cav and the angry peasant mobs.
Mr McCrumple I mean, peasants have guns in this game (Armed Citizenry), which is scary.
thanks for the walkthrough man, i really need it
Been waiting for a napoleon TW from you for ages 👍
Enjoying this series!
darthmod is a must for this game, gives the campaign so much more freedom, rather than the glorified dlc that the vanilla game is
Don't know that Legend does too many mods apart from LoTR MTW 2
As much as i love NTW i agree wholeheartedly, either that or the Le something mod lol. Best naval battles in my opinion as well although Fall of the Samurai is pretty fun late game just absolutely fucking annihilating anything on the ocean xD
Darthmod is to easy since economy is overpowered. Napoleon TW 3 is generally the mod that most players find the best.
How does one get 40 unit stack armies? Is it within the Darthmod itself?
Darthmod Napoleon sucks, LME is best for NTW
Great video! I can't imagine how well you'd do on normal difficulty.
@LegendofTotalWar: the 'walking' under intense enemy fire is actually quite correct for the period.
Excellent battle Legend Bravo! Nice game looking forward to a sea battle
Outstanding Legend!
Just watched the battle of London. Looked so much fun! This game might be better than I initially thought, have never rally played it since I was always more of a Rome&Medieval period guy.
I really hope that Total War can revisit and improve the Empire series. I find the time period compelling enough...
New sub now im downloading it and by the way you play i have picked up tips keep up this great work!
That second wave, you were just going bowling with those cannons. Tons of strikes
I want my grenadiers to feel like grenadiers, not like militia.
That battle for London was great! Very bloody, in true Napoleonic fashion a bloody battle. The Revolt of London however had bad leadership
FUCK YES LEGEND! I waited for this for a long time, but I didn`t want to bother you with suggestion of playing this! Wow, I`m gonna watch and enjoy.
I know I’m late, however for anyone new to this game, you have a much higher chance of killing enemy artillery when they are limbered instead of unlimbered in firing position. If you hit enemy arty with your arty when they are limbered it will destroy the gun and the carriage. And if it’s positioned right you can take out two or three guns and carriages with one shot.
Daaaang he finally did it!
The "ding ding ding ding" annoying noise is a known NTW bug, and you can't get rid of it. The only thing you can do is, when it happens (usually on the campaign map), click on a corner of the minimap far away from your current location and the noise will stop.
Seriously, wtf is the AI doing. Casually walking line infantry into condensed artillery fire without charging, throwing single cavalry units head-on into line infantry outnumbering them 7:1, and the oh so familiar "clump-up into the artillery field of fire and then wait there for 3 minutes".
Matthias Bayer yh the AI is shit in this game
the AI in empire is worse

"We have to cross the Channel before fucking Nelson gets there" - Napoleon, 1805
Militia is good for occupying ports. (They are cheap.) Which means that enemy fleets can’t move in and unload armies and move out immediately. Also when enemy fleets move into a port, that port needs repair.
the battles in this game look so fucking beautiful on 60FPS. Love the cannons

But is it possible to get a civil war in Napoleon? I don't think so.
Its possible
It's not a civil war, it's a revolution confined to 1 region.
For France its not possible, but for other nations it is.
I usually play Russia and intentionally provoke a democratic revolt (for the research) immediately. So yes.
It NTW yeah it’s a mod called North and South: American Civil War it has battles but idk about campaigns

Your rage about game of thrones is so fucken true xD xD
I love your vids bro, keep it up
Very nice to see some Napoleon, it has its flaws but I really enoy it, it´s basically Empire done right.
The best gunpowder Total War IMO is Fall of the Samurai though, I downright adore that game. I also consider it the best expansion in the whole series, it bascially took everything Shogun 2 did good and just added so many more layers of gameplay to it.
Because of this I truly hope Legend will give that a shot in the future. Few things are as satisfying as to send a banzai´d Shogitai into enemy lines and watch them just butcher evertyhing.
The problem is Napoleon Total War could reach close to FOTS with a few tweaks (stronger artillery, more guns per battery). On vanilla it's meh but with a few tweaks it's a beautiful game.

Napoleon has a shit campaign
Here starts a freaking awesome campaign
Napoleon is my favourite TW game. I understand how you feel, that the scope of the game is limited, but thematically, I loved the vibe of the period, CA nailed the music and aesthetic. More importantly, I consider the battles the most smooth, polished, and beautiful of the franchise. The multiplayer scene, in its heyday, was just awesome, and imo, it is the most tactical and skill-oriented of the series in terms of competitive play. Shogun 2 was great, but the I felt the battles were streamlined and arcady. After engaging, the battles were so short.
Looking forward to this campaign, subbed!
I didn't think it was going to be that big! - Legend 2017
Just what i wanted to watch
Funny, Empire and Napoleon are among my favorite. Maybe because I really dig the period. Also the naval battles are great and diplomacy was good :) Too bad there is not a merger between Empire and Napoleon with the Empire global map + improvements from Napoleon..
am learning the game now its cool to see an experience player playing it.I

Legend senpai noticed me 😯😥😍
Vuk Belcevic why?
dragon slayer550 I dont know but thats the first thing you see when you open their website.
I know this is an old video, but I wanted to point out some stuff. Many of the skirmishers have the ability to put up stakes, the number of stakes is equal to the numerous of troops in the regiment (usually) and they each kill one cavalryman on impact and disappear. A bit of a con is that deployment of stakes takes a long time, so you can't just change into it like a square formation.
So, it's a good practice to have your skirmishers deployed about 20 metres front of the artillery and deploy stakes immediately after battle begins. Because you would want your artillery to keep shooting without hitting your own, thus it would be vulnerable to cavalry charges without the stakes.
Also, bridge battles don't happen unless you are directly on the bridge. I saw your move near Venice and it wasn't deployed on the bridge. The enemy will just click on your allies land and you won't get a bridge battle, but just a prompt to respond to enemy movement or not. And if you do respond, the battle will be on flat ground and you as the attacker.
The trick is to station your troops right at the edge of the bridge so it will still regenerate, you can check if your deployment is correct by detaching a cavalry to the back and seeing if they can cross the bridge.
Also, skirmisher cavalry that can shoot from horseback like Chasseur le Cheval (one of France's cheapest cavs) will damage other friendly units when firing if they are near. So, it's best practice to turn off autofire when charging near friendly lines.
a not le skull
oh bro, you did what the mighty and wise napoleon never could or wanted
huzzah I love this game very happy to see you leading the revolution !
This makes the task of crossing the English Channel to invade look WAY too easy... then again of course history was not turned based but still, you should be able to set War ships especially frigates to have wide intercept ranges...
"the British were the main reason Napoleon lost the war..." Because losing 360k of a 400k army on a desperate attempt to conquer Russia was nothing
That's a really myopic interpretation that shows no understanding of the wars. The whole big cause of the invasion was due to conflict with the UK over the blockade.
It's like saying smoking isn't why I'm dying, it was the lung cancer. How witty of you.
@@lightfeather9953 lol, it's nothing like that, but how witty of you.

Also, the funny thing is he's never seen a death certificate.
Napoleon was on the cusp of forcing Russian government to surrender, but had to divert a large portion of the grande armee back to France, due to UK invading. So yeah UK played a BIG role in Napoleon's downfall
I would love to see legend complete the Austria campaign. By far the hardest campaign in this game because once you get too big, all the major nations declare war on you.
That's the case with every nation in every Total War game. Though by that point you should have enough financial clout that you'll be using high tier units and no longer suffering financial woes, meaning unless you're bad at fighting battles the campaign is effortless.
Laurie, just play the campaign as Austria and you'll understand. I've played all the other factions in napoleon and they're all significantly easier to play. If you've already played Austria and beat it, then I would love to know your tactics
@@TheBjangles I've played every single campaign in Atilla, Napoleon, Empire, Warhammer 1, Medieval 2, Shogun 2, Rome 1, and Rome 2. With the exception of some balancing issues like the fucking poison archers in Atilla that make a few manual resolves unenjoyable (which can be dealt with by autoresolving) none of the games or campaigns are overly hard. I also usually play on Very Hard as opposed to Legendary though as I find Legendary to be generally unsatisfying and highly unenjoyable and I run these on a mac so modding is practically non-existant for Total War games. The only mod I use is the conquer anywhere mod for Warhammer 1, which makes them game almost fun.
In terms of how to win in Napoleon and Empire, they're slighly different. ETW is won by speeding for fire by rank and with Austria's larger units of line you should then speed through the game effortlessly since you now outshoot everyone until they get the same tech (and they won't do so for a very long time). NTW depends on difficulty. The good old skirmisher/cav army works if you're very good at micro, but if you're not and on a high difficulty you'll need four to six cavarly, no more than eight units of line but preferably four to six, and then fill in the rest with skirmishers or artillery. The real issue on NTW is you can't ever teach your troops to fire by rank or even to fire by company, which is very very strange for this period and means your line units are either going to be on advance by section (which is shit) or only the front line will fire. This problem doesn't exist with light infantry, who now put more lead into the air than line units as their entire unit will fire at once.
If you're on normal, maybe play some other campaigns a few times. The problem there is almost definitely you.
that ding, ding, ding sound at beginning of first battle sounded like a bugle but corrupted.
Legend always likes to keep that “2-hours of cheese” option for when he’s a stubborn bastard that doesn’t want to lose.
Yay, Napoleon! Makes me so happy to see this, even though you're playing on the wrong side.

Seems to big an advantage seeing where they will set up before the battle when there is artilery involved,
These may not be the best TW tittle ever, but it sure has the best music hands down.
We really need a Napoleon total war 2.
Napoleon is WAY better than empire, they really refined both combat and the campaing in my opinion.
Prefer empire because cannon balls are lethal in it.
Ah yes. Refined combat so that only the first line fires in a game about an era of line combat. Such a refinement. Refined combat so that the map is smaller. Such refinement. Refined combat to the point where just dumping your army onto one ship and rushing a port, meaning that naval warfare can be skipped entirely, is still the most viable strategy. Such refinement.
I honestly can't think of a problem in Empire that isn't worse in N:TW.
@@EarFarce4 lethal ? Yes they were lethal if the artillery crew could actually shoot and not miss
Laurie
1. Napoleonic troops only fired in the first rank.
By the way, Fire and Advance exists.
2. Have you even seen El Arish?
3. He was lucky, when it comes to actual attempts, quite a lot of the time you’ll be caught off guard- besides, I’ve done exactly what you’ve said in Empire, and nobody likes naval battles anyways.
nothing I hate more than starting as an established empire, I like to build strong and stable from one settlement to the empire
I was snickering when you took London and said "well the rebellion can't be that big" when I knew what was coming
I had to check the date to make sure it wasnt the 1st April.....
the ding ding sound is a bug, it also happens on the campaign map, the way i deal with it is to move the camera as far as possible from where i hear the sound.
if only they kept the style of the game like this and made a Rome 2 on it. Or a medieval
A few strategic pointers:
You should always put your skirmishers in skirmisher formation (that is the whole point of them).
Don't be afraid of performing a bayonet charge; it was a fundamental part of warfare at the time. Soften your opponent up with a volley of musket fire, and then charge home with bayonets. Also, the bayonet charge was the primary function of grenadiers.
Unless absolutely necessary, do not run your men; they cannot engage in melee effectively if tired.
Lastly, do not put the Old Guard in the front line. They were always at the back, to be used as a last resort if defeat was imminent.
Other than that, great use of concentrated artillery fire. Also, great management of friendly fire.
You must be new here ;p
Daniel Pardo one does not simply tell legend what to do
Haha, yes, I am new to the channel, but not to the game.
Skirmisher formation has weaknesses. In ETW and NTW, by glitch or design, they can start losing stamina rapidly. Skirmish mode should only be turned on when the unit is close to the enemy.
Bayonet charging works well in ETW but in NTW, where units have much higher accuracy and reloading, bayonet charges often go horribly wrong unless the target is distracted. On harder difficulties you can easily lose half your men closing the distance alone. Grenadiers are rarely used in online play because they're not competitively useful due to their smaller regiment sizes.
Old Guard are amazing units and putting them in the back is squandering their potential. Not only are you causing more casualties among your own men for leaving the best of your army behind, your Old Guard don't get experience, making them have less potential later in the game.
Finally I might point out the faint ridiculousness of telling someone what to do on their channel--particularly game advice to someone who has pretty much mastered every TW game.
I was not telling him what to do, but merely giving advice. I read a lot about the military tactics and formations of this time period, so I know what things were like historically. Thus, my advice was based on what I know actually worked back then.
Oh look it's old legend
I don’t know if it’s only me, but I picture a perfect strategy as a combination of Europa Universalis 4 and Total War Napoleon.
