    I deeply respect the Master Gunnery Sergeant that stays the entire 30 years. I dearly love the bursting bomb added to the 3 chevron and 4 rockers. Field leaders help those Marines win a war. Semper Fi!

    Only thing to think about is a Master Sergeant can serve as a First Sergeant, and a Master Gunnery Sergeant can serve as a Sergeant Major, but never the other way around. The video makes the the technical ranks (MSgt, MGySgt) seem lesser but I can guarantee you it’s almost never that way

      The first sergeant outweighs the master sergeants in any Battalion I was ever a part of I mean this is why there's two first sergeants and a pile Master sergeants at battalion and one company first sergeant per company it's not about who outranks who it's about administrative pull the tops lead their particular shop or trade they are the experts in their field however you got first sergeant sitting in the company and battalion headquarters next to the Brass with significantly more weight on decisions he doesn't have a shop to run leaving him alot more time to make it his job to know everything the master sergeant cares about his shop that's his mission the first sergeant cares about you MEN are his mission

    They missed one of the most unique ranks in the Marines, the Marine Gunner (Marine Weapons Officer). While the Marine Gunner is an W-O2, unlike an WO-1, which does not require a presidential appointment and can be granted to a Staff Sergeant, the Marine Gunner is a presidential appointment directly from Gunnery Sergeant to WO-2. Like the Sergeant Major of the Marines, the Marine Gunner rank insignia is different from a standard WO in that the Gunner wears a bar on one lapel, and the "Bursting Bomb" from the Gunnery Sergeant emblem on the other lapel. The Marine Gunner is one of the most highly respected officers in the Corp. They are weapons and tactics specialist and always have extensive combat experience. If things are not going right on the battlefield, a commanding officer will often dispatch a Gunner to see what is going on, because they know the Gunner will always get the straight story from the troops about what is going on, where the troops may not trust and regular O level officer to really comprehend the situation. What makes the Gunner extra unique is that the rank comes and goes. There is always a Sergeant Major of the Marine Corp, but the Marines usually only make a few Gunners when they need them (times of war) and in peace time, the rank can go away, and typically the Gunner will convert to an O level (Captain typically). Now in my day, WOs were often called "Gunner" and few would bother to correct an enlisted man on the error, but technically, only the Marine Weapons Officer is the only one that should be called Gunner, though again, in my day, it was very common for the troops to call any WO "Gunner." Standard WOs are typically technical specialists, but in the past, there were times that they were pilots and even had command functions in some instances. Now this is from a Marine that served from Vietnam until the fall of Saigon and longer, so maybe it is different now, but in my day, an Gunner was a very uncommon thing to see.

    This is an ok vid ....I remember Lt. Gen being extremely rare in the Corps someone working at the pentagon not unheard of in the fleet but rare .... the Eagle Globe and Anchor represents freedom with the Eagle world service with the globe but it goes farther than that it has the Western Hemisphere on the globe and the British Royal Marines have the eastern hemisphere on theirs the two services interlocking in complement of each other or in direct Corporation of many missions throughout the history of the two the anchor definitely represents the association with the Navy after all it's where Marine Corps got started as Sharpshooters before the United States was even a country serving in ship masts but in a much more straightforward answer to that question where the paychecks come from Marine Corps is funded through the United States Maybe however they are the "PRESIDENT'S OWN" vessel that he can do with what what he sees fit without answering to Congress technically separating them from the US Armed Forces and isolating them too to whatever the President's perogative May be oh so that puts them as security Force 4 all US embassies and diplomatic Outpost including Air Force 1 green 1 Etc The cross on top of the officers cover still represents that to this day I've never heard of it being credited to them being amphibious the eagle globe and anchor has been around since way before the Marines ever did any amphibious Beach assaults

      The commandant carries that rank there's no need for it in the Marine Corps small Branch only 175,000 and there's no point to having a bunch of three and four-star generals running around the mission was accomplished just fine with major generals running things no need to make things worse by adding more brass to the mix

    • @hugh_jorgan633
      @hugh_jorgan633 Před 11 měsíci +2

      Simple? How so? Not sure what jibirish u just made up but the " ranks" that you somehow dismiss for the enlisted men go from E1 all the way up 2 joint chiefs. However in the eyes of aministration or whoever it is cutting the checks it's called "Pay Grade" that way when it comes across some upper echelons desk it doesn't matter what branch you're in it just matters where you're at on the pay grade scale not sure where the whole rate thing comes from but that sounds completely made up to me as a veteran of United States Marine Corps i have never heard that before. And frankly I'm just not sure why you we'll try to bulshit your way in the comments box that is going to be read by potentially thousands of veterans now moving on "Billets" often find themselves filled by Marines that are way lower Rankin then they are supposed to be this can sometimes present unique situations when somebody with a higher rank is trying to order you what to do and you just look at them and tell them "you do not rate" followed by the directions on where they can go to get the proper paperwork.

      And honestly enlisted are the ones that get it done they chew the dirt and do all the training for such a small paycheck it's almost a joke the brass goes to college and somehow they somehow always demand respect and I mean seriously when was the last time you heard about a officer doing something heroic on the ground I mean Pilots are one thing those guys kick but on the ground you're officers are heroically on the radio in the rear

    Brigadier General rank effects bad whole world, one of the reason is Space jump training happens with Brigadier. No Brigadier cannot seems to be general rank. I did research by Seymour Cray Brigadier General rank effects collides every thing and for training structure and effects of training in brigadier and General rank different like two different state in mind anti reverse. That's why conflicts occurs in whole world. That's why I and all countries leaders and in the time of Obama we stopped this rank in whole world. Also rank batch looks like half lieutenant. Good. I was also cadet in your academy to fulfill all training of all branches of defense of USA to be a Field Marshal. - Thank you all.
