I've covered Dragon Ball primarily for years. I've covered pretty much the entire
series and so I thought this would be the perfect challenge. Something that's just crazy enough
to interest me. ONE PIECE! Eiichiro Oda's magnum opus and one of the longest running
and certainly most popular manga series out there. Today I'll be reviewing and giving
my first impressions on the chapters 218 - 302 of One Piece 100% blind. Covering the Jaya and Skypiea Arcs.
I've since completed:
PART 1 - Romance Dawn, Orange Town, Syrup Village & Baratie.
PART 2 - Arlong Park & Loguetown.
PART 3 - Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden & Drum Island.
PART 4 - Alabasta
Is One Piece all that it's cracked up to be? Or was it worse than I thought.
Find out this week as we dive into the massive pirate adventure with Luffy in
Totally Not Mark's series review of One Piece. Part 5!

@@thats4thebirds eh I think it allows for a better power dynamic. All the Yonko would be Logia if Armament wasn’t a thing. Instead we have a Zoan and a Paramecia df for Yonko which is way more creative. Even Doflamingo would be fodder if there was no Haki.
@@thats4thebirds Honestly it kinda Nerfs Logia and thats a good thing, cause paramecia tend to have quite obvious weakness, or straight up not mattering if they have haki or not. And for Zoans I mean what does haki even do except level the playing field for them.

Ok, so this is random but thought I would add. Severe chest trauma like Eneru received from the impact dial can actually cause fatal arrhythmias like ventricular fibrillation which can cause you to become unconscious. In this case, defibrillation could actually restore the heart's natural rhythm by stopping the abnormal electrical activity caused by the impact. This is an actual medical emergency that can be seen in sports like baseball when a player is hit in the chest. Although very little in the fight is medically accurate and a blast like the one that shattered Wiper's arm would most definitely rupture his heart we might be able to give Oda the benefit of the doubt for this particular sequence! Totally in love with this series and your analysis!! - rando med student

And in two weeks do the entire Enies Lobby.
And Enies lobby is orgasmic and one of the best arc ever written in manga history.
But Water 7 is also fantastic. It's really amazing in its own right
Mark, when they said Blackbeard was "long gone" they didn't mean he was dead, they meant that he had left Alabasta weeks ago.
Yes, I think it's a saying that doesn't translate well properly (Mark is living in Ireland, right?). Which is why I was confused when he started bringing up time travel when talking about Blackbeard during the Alabasta video. Hopefully, he'll get it cleared up to him by his editor before Impel Down/Marineford given Teach's relationship to Whitebeard.
Ive noticed that he has misinterpreted many things so far.

PS Mark isnt reading comments, Ajay is. Mark doesnt wanna get spoiled.
@@DJKennedy90 okay, thanks for that, because I was just fucking confused. I forgot manga translations, depending on which one, can be misleading. I legit was like, whennn did they say that he dieddddd
If "god" knew rubber existed and got to the new world he could actually do some serious damage. He has the #1 op devil fruit, future tech, and half the haki he needs. He can also revive himself. He just got unlucky.
If he were slightly less reliant on his DF, he could've overcome rubber. It makes sense that he has so much faith in his fruit though.
So whos gonna tell him
Any competent armament haki user would wring his neck.
He didn't get unlucky he got lucky he ate that fruit on sky islands where armament haki was so rare as to be non existent.
The Enel we see wouldn't train before going to the new world and would get packed up before making past fishman island.
@@IsaacClodfelter Luffy has right to say to enel " in blue sea down here , many more people stronger than you"
Hoping Part 4 will come back. Really looking forward to your review on the Crocodile fight.
Skypiea is an interesting arc. Some people like it, some don't. It's an interesting set up for later arcs, and does great world building. That said, it's very disconnected from the rest of that world.
I totally agree Skypiea, along with Jaya are 2 interesting story arcs just to have a glimpse of One Piece's World History. What's more interesting is that the Skypiea story itself for me didn't end there. It sill continued on as Enel ventures to the Fairy Vearth (Moon) and learned that in 1 way or another the "Shandians", "Skypieans" and "Birkans" were descendants of the Moon people.
It's back
People do understand how much this arm sets up so many future things and our frist real hints at what luffys true future is.
I love that everytime he strats a new arc is always the best experience he had ever had
Thanks for all the likes for real 🙏🙏🙏
Shows you the power of One Piece
Hes not gonna be saying that for the next one
He's not gonna be saying that in the new world tbh
One Piece being One Piece
That's One Piece 4 ya.
Listening to mark make his predictions for characters and story elements in the future: 👀👀👀👀👀
And some of them are actually spot on
Omg , he‘ll have the best theories when he Catches up with us 😮😂
It's especially good cause i'm too dumb to make theories the first time i read one piece, too eager reading the next chapters

you're awesome dude!
It’s amazing how Roger going to Sky Island was set up here but wasn’t fully explained how until over 800 chapters later
Me when mark is reviewing the story: *cries in nostalgia*
Me when mark is making theories: how can you be so right about some things, but soo wrong about others at the same time
I swear he must be making intentionally wrong predictions to throw us off his trail.
@@Masahane I know right? Like when listening I was like yep, yep, those theories are right, and second later he says something and I'm like, nope... Nope nope
@@Masahane I don't think he is, he is just making them along the way he is reading the story. We all already know what is to come, but he doesn't
Superhero123kaleb Perhaps. But honestly I’m sure he’s already aware of certain big story beats as I was while getting into it. It’s kind of like knowing Aeriths death without playing FF7 or knowing Luke’s father is Darth Vader. There are just certain spoilers you can’t hide yourself from especially with one piece. It’s just annoying that he acts like he doesn’t know certain things when sometimes the things he mentions or predicts are very specific. Either way I’m enjoying his review of the story.
It honestly says a lot about one piece that you can make such accurate theories with the amount of information given.
"most satisfying punch in the world"

We all know what is really the most satisfying.
F that Celestial dragon! He did not learn either! I'm still pissed at what he did to Shirahoshi! And Kuma!

Sabaody Archipelago was such a good and unique arc.....
I agree.
“For the longest arc yet.”
My mans ain’t ready for Dressrosa
Rewatching this series after chapter 1044, while rereading the manga from the beginning. I'm having fun, right now.
Mark's going to be kicking himself later for not talking more about Merry.
I mean to be fair, he’s a first time One Piece reader. How is he supposed to know about Merry without hindsight or spoilers? It’s kinda like how he finally mentioned Bounties in this video, it wasn’t important to him until this moment.
@@thedoorman6940 I've always really liked the bounty mechanic of one piece. People like 'power levels' and bounties just do it in such a well done way. As said in the video it's not just their strength that puts into account bounty. I'm glad Mark realized this.
@@thedoorman6940 I think it's to his credit. Mark cares about making these videos as entertaining as possible. But the further along we get the more tiny details will retroactively become super important.
I mean, it’s just a boat.
@@Pillarofcreation1 Like i wish he would talk more about the cover stories.
I love how Mark is so right yet so wrong on his Roger prediction at the end.
Right, when he was wrapping up the video, I just said find out all this and more in the next episode of Dragon Ball Z,😂
@@qncymrtn weirdly enough I think it might be Marks love of Dragonball causing him to believe Roger's alive. I mean in DB deaths more an annoyance than actual death. I don't think hes grasped that when Oda kills someone, they are dead. Marineford will fix that XD
@@Grojak umm pell, igaram
@@Grojak when oda "kills" someone they don't actually die unfortunately
Well, there is part of that prediction that is true. Roger *did* give himself up and Luffy *is* connected to Roger. For the first part, Roger is almost certainly dead, and for the second part he's actually pretty spot on Luffy is kind of being set up like he's related to Roger, but that *is* too on the nose
I still think the scariest things to me is all the Observation Haki in that room and no one knew Lafitte was there.
28:15 slight misread sea prism doesn’t negate Devil fruit power it affects those with devil fruit powers as though they were in the sea. Rendering them limp and useless
I can't believe how dead-on he was on Mantra. He hit an Outer Bull with his theory.
Yeah, our benefit of being up to date often has us forget just how much Oda set up early on
Swagnar it’s really crazy
He was talking about haki right?
Ucyyyy
I realised Oda didnot retcon Mantra into Haki. Those are just different names for the same thing. As Wano and Skypiea are the most isolated places of One Piece the name Haki is not used there. And Haki is called Ryou in Wano.
This mans gonna go crazy when he reads water 7 and enies lobby
Two words: Paramount War
Marineford

Man, being caught up on the story, I hear Mark say things and just smile, waiting with glee for his reaction to the reveals. Robin, Mantra, Roger's Execution -- there's so much to love coming up in *just the next arc,* let alone the rest of the story. If anyone is reading along with Mark, make sure you're sitting down... and maybe have some tissues at hand for every session, as you never know when the feels are gonna hit you from this point onward.

Mark: I can't wait to see what's next
Oda: I'm about to wreck this mans entire emotions

Nefsart Nefcomics I don’t get why he keeps saying that these arcs are good. He hasn’t even reached the ultimate arc yet, long ring long island
I cant wait for him to get to marineford
also this is the one arc where the strawhats actually do something piratey: hunt for 'buried' treasure to steal
Fighting other pirates, the navy, and local governments because they’re getting in the way of the Strawhats is a very pirate thing to do.
& in the end they just get given treasure as thanks, the irony
That's why this is my favorite arc so far (just about to start Marineford for the first time). It's the one arc that felt the most like a pirate adventure to discover the secrets of the world and get rich doing it. It's a type of romanticism you don't see much of anymore and I just love it. This is the arc that turned me into a fan of One Piece, which is funny since I'm watching the anime and didn't feel any of the pacing problems Mark mentioned in the beginning.

I’m kinda sad he didn’t mention the weird shadowy figure that Usoop saw repairing the Mary.
Klabbauterman will be really important in Water 7, but I can understand how he may think that was just Usopp's mind playing tricks on him.
I actually don't think he's taking it to seriously because he hasn't said the merry go name yet, I bet he just sees a ship and is moving forward
@@qncymrtn It's because he's clearly an insane person who does not think that a boat is a person.
