Culham Bridge - you're right, it was the original bridge into Abingdon from the East. A cavalier captain was shot on it during the Civil War. It is said that his ghost walks the bridge at night.

Beautifully filmed. Sadly not many people still appreciate how wonderful the 16th of June is.
It seemed very quiet in Oxfordshire. While fishing Norfolk's rivers this season I have been plagued with wild swimmers, kayakers and inconsiderate anglers. Hopefully things will quieten down soon.
I look forward to your next video.

Thanks Garry, I think you're right, the 16th is a wonderful day and a great time of reminding us to appreciate all species that happen to take the bait. I've not fished Norfolk before but always wanted to, the famous Wensum and the Broads made famous by John Wilson of course! ☺. I do come across the same obstacles in Oxfordshire from time to time as well but since most of my summer fishing is done in the evenings I manage to avoid them. Thanks for watching! 👍

You forgot to mention paddle boarders! I fished the river Wey in Ripley, Surrey two years ago and it was just left to fishermen and walkers but thanks to the bloody furlough, the stretch has been plagued for weeks and the little car park full by 7am. I’m all for freedom of access but when some portly, middle aged woman careering from bank to bank on a paddle board while gossiping to her equally moronic chum complains that I didn’t reel in to let her go past, i lose my sense of humour!
If Shimano were to release a range of paintball guns, I’d be first in the queue!

@@martinshephard6317 🤣🤣As someone who had to work through all the lockdowns, I was really glad to see the end of the furlough scheme here in Yorkshire too! Winter may be cold and damp, but I look forward to it, as at least I can have the river to myself on most days, while the morons are busy shopping and keeping warm!

Beautiful bit of filming and fishing! and finally a chunk of a Bream at the end! memorable day. As an angling youtuber and musician, I really thought the music was spot on too. Sadly, I'm a fly angler primarily, and most of my coarse fishing takes place in the winter, brown trout tend to occupying my thoughts at that time of the year, but next summer, Barbel, definitely!! good luck with your channel.

The River Frome in Dorset is full of big Brownies, my intention is to learn fly fishing at some point and target them, but for now I trott for the big Grayling in there!. Cheers buddy, I've just checked yours out, I'll be interested to watch pike on the fly at some point 👍.

The frome is on my list, prob a day ticket at mayfly time for my retirement present! Damned expensive though! I'm from Lancashire, so there's a wealth of urban and rural trout streams nearby, many of them free fishing! Tight in your part of the world though, unless you're after rainbow trout in stillwaters. Our trout tend to be plentiful but small, my daughter's recently moved from London to Yorkshire so next spring I'll be trying the Dales rivers! 😊

Perhaps a jacket should be packed in the future? That last stretch of the Thames seems to just be rammed with Bream at the moment. My friend caught a 6lb Bream just in the opening of the boat turning point. Fair to say after a session down there I'll be happy to not catch another all season.

    A personal message.
Well done. You've managed to capture a hint of what gentle coarse fishing can be. The music you've chosen (at least to start ) also fits.
With your apparent mind-set you would/could easily be seduced into crossing by Narnian time travel to 1955. Provided you avoid the easy access draw of wannabe groups, eschewing the more obvious tat of modernity would complete your joy. Of course, it's a delusional bubble that exists, can only exist, in parallel. Few really get it, but you might. Think Kings Cross platform 9 3/4, but made real for you.
But maybe I'm reading you incorrectly.
