lmao, only thing im pissed about is that in the trailers the planets look fucking amazing with beautiful lush green forests, plants, and wild life. Instead all the planets are barren copy and paste clones of each other with no real wow factor they simply become boring after u see how one region looks like...not at all how they made it look in the trailers.

In the Angry Joe review for "No Man's Sky", there's an interview segment where the developers hint at what might be at the center of the galaxy. "Wouldn't it be hilarious if there was nothing there, or we just faded to black?" and it's said in a joking tone that makes you think they're kidding. Like, "no, that's stupid. We would never do something that lame." And then they actually did it.
Well they weren't lying, it doesn't fade to black............it fades to white.

In the center of the galaxy there is a giant black hole. As you travel close to it, your own subjective time is going to slow down to a near standstill, and as a result you will perceive the rest universe as incredibly speed up. And since the accelerating expansion of the universe will make all stars and galaxys move farther and farther away from you, becuase your subjective time almost not moving, you would experiance this as all stars around starting to move away at an incradible speed.
I can't believe it! This ending is brilliant! It's an actual, accurate ending of what could actually happen if you try to reach the centre of the galaxy!!!

When time becomes dilated getting destroyed by gravity would most likely never happen. For an outside perspective you just died, but because gravity just wrecks time and reality when it gets strong enough (I.E. Black Hole) you would feel nothing and be perfectly alive, as you Rocket through time.
It's the other way around. From the outside perspective, you become slower and redder, in your frame you reach the singularity in a few microseconds and get ripped to pieces by the gravity gradients.

You play the game with an elastic rope tied to your back, that is not freedom. And once you're about to achieve what you think is the main goal, what you've been playing for the whole game, you're yanked back to the start with no closure whatsoever.

-Multiplayer (There is none)
-Massive Faction War and Joining Factions (Just 3 races randomly spread in systems that give you no benefits)
-Orbits (None)
-Animals that interact with each other (There are none)
-Ships being a discovery because every ship is completely unique and different, and each player gets their own ship (Nopenopenope)
-Different soundtrack for each player (Surprisingly, nope. Although the soundtrack is good.)
-No skybox (There is one)
-Can technically fly from one star to another without hyperdriving (again, nope)
-Trading System (Nope)
-Economy (Nope)
-Landing on asteroids (Nope)
-Portals (Nope)That's all I can think of now.
EDIT: Okay so it's 3 years later and I'm still getting replies on this comment, so just to let everyone know, Hello Games has since delivered on many of the above things and has also delivered on a number of things that weren't even promised, like undersea bases and mechs and stuff.

There are monuments on planets that look exactly like the one in the trailer, except the hole in the middle of them does nothing. Trading is not trading. It's randomly buying items when they are at a low price and wondering around looking for a system that has them at a high price and selling them. It is not a fluctuating economy affected by wars and other trades with freighters and such. I'd just like to ask you, why the fuck are you defending this game? Its shit, the developers are the biggest dicks second only to Isis.

This is not the true ending. You've found the center of the galaxy. That is correct. The concept of the game is to find the center of the Universe. It is still unknown how many times it takes to get there. But this is not the true ending, the creators have already confirmed that.

Considering the Atlas "storyline" straight up tells you you're in a poorly written simulation made by shitty developers this should surprise precisely nobody. The whole game is fucking pointless, there is NO reason to even try to get to the centre, there's enough shitty systems in the first galaxy to keep you bashing your head against something hard and wall shaped forever. i actually did not buy or play it, i just waited for the CZcams reactions and proper reviews. i really wanted the game but i wanted to know how good it was going to be by watching youtubers play it. felt like i was watching them play a demo of the game, there was so little content, there are free games with better game play and content then no mans sky. i am glad i did not go by the hype and waited for some good revues, really dodged a bullet there lol.

But one reason this can be opening and not ending is that in every video the scene is the same, first you go backwards and then you go forward and then eventually you are on a planet.
How come everyone is experiencing the same scenario?
I called it years ago, that was the obvious solution to make sense of the developer's comments on the ending and the center.

And if the above is true, and if the developers think it's ok to play a semi repetitive game for almost a thousand hours, doing the same thing for 18 galaxies, just for a specific ending....wow.
Though, if every galaxy took 50 hours to traverse, and it was only 9 galaxies, we would still be well over 400 hours in.
I don't think more than a dozen will actually manage to finish this game...

In this game, you are rewarded with a new color, that you don't get to choose, for the center of the galaxy.
You could still be in the same galaxy and not a new one, you just changed the background color before getting transported to an other edge of it.
And it would not change anything because you can't humanly visit all the planets of a galaxy in the first place.
And there is no point discovering a new one, you will always find the same resources, same alien factions, same station's interiors, same buildings, same proceduraly generated patterns, same everything, just a differently named and colored center and that's it.
In Mass Effect 3, you choose the color, and you get at least some sort of closure to the game, a real ending, a shitty one I know but it's still an ending with slideshows , that's way more than NMS and Mass Effect 3 had Tali'Zorah, her romance story saved the shitty ending all together, can't beat that either.

Well, he didn't travel to a different galaxy, he traveled to the center of the universe were the consept of the game chose to use as the transition to the next playthrough, so it's both a different imagined dimention and a galaxy (you can't say what's a dimention or not, that's weird). Exactly, I started playing after the next update and man, it’s only getting better and better from here
I started playing after the “next” update so I may not have a full perspective but It seems to me that people were overreacting back then. There wasn’t as much to do but it still seems like a fun exploration game. And the team was already working on foundation update to give everyone base building, farming, freighters something like 3 months after release.
Aged horribly? Yes and no. Ridiculously horribly? No. It's been more or less 4 years ago before they finally added a chunk of the stuff they initially marketed and stated around launch. It doesn't make their initial statement wrong after the fact. It's something that could have been prevented from the start, and we should still look at this as a reminder of holding companies accountable for what they market off to consumers and show mistakes that were learned. At the end of the day it's a greater improvement than what it was at launch, but it's also becoming tiring from a gaming consumer perspective. You can give them credit for what they continuously was able to work on, but you can't really give praise either for work that was said to be there from the start.
It's more like they promised a mansion, gave you a shed at the start , and then worked on construction to build that up to a large house.

Just like back in the old days when a game would end, you'd see a shitty screen with dialogue saying you have to beat the game again for the true ending, and nothing's different you just play the game again. It's unlikely that a galaxy could ever be at the center of the universe as all galaxies are moving in a constant direction away from a central point. Which is to say that the center of the universe would be the least populated part of the universe.
Pretty sure the accepted theory states that all objects are moving away from each other - not from a "central" point. A center can't be defined within infinite space.

This is literally the worst thing they could have possibly done for the ending. Rather than make your journey feel worth it with awesome loot/ gear/ ANYTHING, they just slam you into a new galaxy and break everything you have, effectively restarting your game!

though it still could be good this way.... maybe make a universal map where u go from galaxy core... to galaxy core... with some sort of new thing u need to make to travel this way... also some lore or loot scattered around the new crash site would make it better, or when your at the center you are confronted with a huge space station which is the size of a planet... and is over grown with plants and animals on the inside O: and all the players at the center have got to find a blue print which makes the universal map thingie mabob and then the crash site idea O:

I actually enjoyed this game. But then again I wasn't part of the hype so I knew what I was getting into. However I do feel a bit cheated, I was looking forward to people seeing the path I took and laughing at what I named some of the animals.
To everyone conplaining about an ending.. there is no end, the credits are in the menu bois, its an accomplishment, not an ending. Like hiking the pacific trail, no real value, just the journey.
Honestly I wish more games were like that. Especially Uncharted 4. The game is all fun until the credits start rolling.

Nope, I actually beat the original tetris one day after playing for countless hours. I was baked out of my mind and figured it would go on forever, when suddenly it said I won, and a rocket took off from some Russian looking building. I don't get it, but it was awesome.

Spore was better, this is just 1/5 of that game (the space age) although in spore the spaceship and character customisation was much better, plus you could choose exactly what you wanted to do with each planet and its inhabitants e.g. terraforming
