  • Solidworks Lofted Surface | Model a Boat in Solidworks | Solidworks Practice Exercise 33 | CADable | CADable tutorials
Hi friends welcome back to CADable. This is Engr. Ibrahim Omer. Its been a month since I am not making any tutorial and the reason is I was doing preparation for my masters of engineering exam. In this tutorial, we will sketch a boat in solidworks using surfacing features.
    Chapters of the tutorial:
    Introduction 0:00
Creating top profile of the boat 0:39
Creating right profile of the boat 2:12
Sketching front profile of the boat 3:15
Modeling boat using lofting surfaces 4:48
Creating sketch for planar surface 5:48
    Knitting two surfaces 6:24
Applying fillet on sharp corners 6:41
Applying appearance blue high gloss plastic 6:53
    Conclusion 7:10
It is a good exercise for beginners and it will be a good practice for beginners. Kindly use play pause technique for practice. Feel free to ask your queries in comment section. I will try to answer each and every question. Keep practicing as practice makes a man perfect.

I design boats and have been looking at SW as a replacement for Rhino but this video has only gave me reasons to run away
Maybe you chose a bad model example for showing dome surfacing in SW
IF THIS IS THE WAY to make a boat in SW, RUN AWAY FAST from SW

The video example you watched in SolidWorks (SW) for boat design may not have represented a realistic model. Remember that a single video cannot fully showcase the software's capabilities. While SolidWorks is primarily known for solid modeling and mechanical design, it does offer surfacing features for boat design. The video's choice of model or approach may have influenced your negative impression. To form a fair judgment, explore additional resources, tutorials, and examples focused on boat design in SolidWorks. Seek insights from experienced boat designers who have used SolidWorks. Ultimately, select software based on your requirements, familiarity, and necessary features. Thoroughly research and experiment with different options to find the best fit for your boat design needs.
