- This is the first of a three-part interivew with Ralf Raths, who runs the Panzermuseum in Munster, Germany. This video, we discuss the museum itself. Parts two and three will cover doctrine and tanks.
Wishing them all the best with their upcoming plans to rebuild parts of the museum!
I nominate you are the Luftwaffe god. Ian from forgotten weapons is Gun Jesus, the chieftain is the tank god.
If Ralf gets his beard together he could be in the run for tank jesus
No, stop!
I can only worship so many military and armament god's!
This is getting out of hand!
Now there are two of them!
He couldn't sound more stereotypically German if he tried, which would be perfect.
@@alexv6324 the pronunciation isn't that easy. Try to speak german. You certainly will sound like a wet towel.
Niklas K.
I wasn't criticizing him, I'm just saying he fits the part. And I took a few years of German, believe me, I know.
Incredible nice guy, was a great pleasure to talk with him two days ago. I am really thrilled for the rebuild museum!
Ralf sounds like the guy you want to buy beer and lunch for and then listen. He seems quite interesting!
I really like German Ian from forgotten weapons.
Guter Mann der Raths
Ja - der ist super! Ich hoffe ihn mal kennenzulernen...
Can we have panzer 3 part 2 please!!!
I adore this museum. I visited here some time ago and had an amazing time. 🙂
Great interview - Ralf Raths always interesting!
Nice interview. Did you find your furniture yet? Panzer 3 part 2?Merry Xmas.
yes where the heck is part 2? they shoot all at one time normally
Is it ok to hate israel
I've been a few times to this museum. It has a very nice collection. I wish them lots of luck with their future plans.
Wah hey! First Gun Jesus shows of the mythical Stoner 63, then an hour later Tank Museum shows of their new Standard Beverette ‘armoured car’ and now the Chieftan is in Munster! Happy happy joy joy
It's like x-mas already.:-)
"...and now the Chieftain is in Munster showing of the Tank Jesus." Fixed that for you.
Hey he hasn’t gone inside a Panzer 1 or 2 yet. Maybe Ralf has a working Panzer available for a test drive?
@@shawnchung5336 The tank museum Bovington has a pair of Panzer IIs and a Panzer I command tank. I wonder if they will feature, especially as the Panzer III is now showing...
Oh dear, Shawn is on a You Tube tank high.
Someone please sit him down and give him a nice cup of tea, white and one. Hands Shawn a paper bag to breathe into slowly. Shakes head slowly at the sad prospect of getting Shawn safely through the Xmas, New Year period bereft of new tank videos.
I was very lucky to visit the panzer museum on a trip to Germany. Long way from Australia!
He does a good job of explaining things . great video .
Amazing place, as all of the tanks museums and collections. Thanks for the upload.
Indy Neidell has a video where he went to this museum to look at late-World War I German tanks. Perhaps you could suggest he try and make a return trip for World War II?
Sadly, I don't think Indy is the sort of guy that would do military equipment justice.
Bismarck or MHV would do a much better job.
Heck, even Gun Jesus would do a better job on tanks.
That's why Indy goes to these museums and interviews the local experts for insight about the tactics/vehicles/history.
excellent upload sir, Mr. Raths is really smart The_Chieftain rocks!
Sehr interessant! Das sieht nach einer sehr wichtigen Sammlung aus! Ich freue mich darauf, es in Zukunft zu besuchen!
Sounds like an excellent museum, I like Mr. Raths ideas very much!
Ralf is a very interesting guy to listen to. He explains it all very well. They had an older ex panzer crew man talking before on videos. He was good too. Keep up the good work!
That dude seemed way too excited about someone driving a tank through one of the walls haha... That would be epic. Maybe coordinate with a ww2 movie in production so they can film it as a practical effect
I think we have discovered his secret ambition for during the renovations. It's OK, we understand, we all have that secret desire, it's just explaining it to civilians and authorities that is the problem.
@@markfryer9880 just get a movie permit and say you are filming an advertisement video.
I like the partnership between the military and the city. I’m not sure the US could support the same sort of relationship due to our legal system, but interesting nonetheless.
Plus, like with movies, any part involving the US military requires it to be shown in a patriotic way. German military does not claim to be heroes or if they had or hadnt super tanks. They state facts.
Guess I'll have to put a visit to that place on my bucket list. Thanks Chieftain
Excellent most interesting and informative , keep up the good work!
Good Luck to them for their re- modelling. Good to see the Panzers celebrated on their home soil👍
Lots of big plans afoot for the museum. Ralf's idea of multiple visits does sound like a good idea. Tad difficult personally living in Australia but for you guys who live closer it's a tempting prospect.
Was there last year, such a cool museum!!
Sounds like a really nice museum! Nice job!
Another epic video from the Chieftain! 😀
Wow, the museum is going to be fantastic
Sounds like a great plan. One day I might be able to visit.
Wait....I KNOW THIS GUY! He’s on Greatest Tank Battles!
Regarding spare parts as odd as it may sound it may be worth talking to jay Leno!
He's really at the front of understanding the requirements of manufacturing replacement parts for vehicles that no longer have parts available and could perhaps advise on how to start going about it for your fleet! :P
I’m hoping to see it in about 3 weeks, from Washington State👍👍👍
This sounds like a great museum--combined arms! Yessiree!
i like this guy. he seems like a great guy to be looking after history.
What a neat guy! They couldn't have found a better guy to be head of their museum!
Thanks ! Nice and informative. Kepp on :)
Great guy.
Sounds great.
amazing to watch :))
Sehr gut!
Herr Raths ist klasse!!!
Too cool!
Sehr gutes Interview, sehr lustig! Very good Interview, very funny.
Yep, no wonder Mr. Raths was familiar. I remember him from the Greatest Tank Battles series from way back then.
I feel like I have seen him in a few tank documentaries before...
I like this guy from military history channel
Just wondering, when is panzer 3 episode 2 coming out?
Did I miss the 2nd Part of the Panzer III L video?
When is panzer 3 part 2 coming?
heheh, I like Ralph, he's doing good work and seems to have a great attitude
the only thing that could of damage a Pz2000 is a Toyota Hilux
.
...with enough speed. It may break reality itself but it will work!
@@Niklas.K95 Hilux never breaks. There just isn't a cannon large enough to fire it.
Might dent the fender though. Got to be careful of those fenders on the Hilux. Of course the tank would be totaled.
@@Alpostpone Talk to the stunts department. I think the electric rail gun thingy (EMALS) in the deck of a new battlefleet carrier would do (45 tonnes to 150mph).
Ralf looks like a bad guy from a Die Hard movie.
Just needs a pair of mirrored aviators and maybe a briefcase.....Yes and Part II for the Panzer III please....
Especially when he said “that’s a lie” very evil villain 🦹♂️
Ralph is actually a very talented English actor ;)
There's is only one thing left to say: "Yippie Yah Yei Schweinebacke!"😂
When is Panzer III Part 2 coming out????
Major Moran
Were you ever at Yad Lashiryon? its in israel and it has a cool Soviet-Egyptian T-34 100mm
MEIN GOTT, DAS PANZERMUSEUM IS HERE !!!
I know your kinda the tank guy but i would really love to see your take on the hill aerospace museum in Utah. They have an a-10 with an extra gun so you can see the internals and hell war gaming still develops World of Warplanes right? Use that as a reason for you work to pay your airfare.
I could camp inside that museum 4 a week... If i was allowed to do so... Too bad i live in the other corner of the world... Nice to see people trying to bring history back to life in this days...
Same here, but hope is the last se should lose my friend...
Night at the Museum, Tank Museum that is.
Panzer III part 2?
I didn't know shawn Michaels worked for Munster.
”four to five visits in the next five years - MINIMUM”
Did you not visit this months ago? Nice!
i don't know about any of you but, i gush over the sight of a Bicycle.
I just caught the bit about taking a former East German tank for security 😂
Sadly the funding for the new museum fell through. Hopefully they‘ll be able to work something out in the next few years.
The reincarnation of Kurt Knispel, the hippie ace ;-)
I hope they get an M18 Hellcat ^^
monster
I didn't know HBK had a German brother.
So I’m guessing you solved your furniture problem?
Look, it's tank Jesus! 🙏🏻
Panzergranate laden
the two guys i respect most talking about tanks, Ralf Raths always try to throw out the propaganda myth created during ww2 and after and Chieftain for his well researched hard facts about tanks that sometimes or many times piss off the fanboys.. cant wait to see more of you two
Re-upload?
yes the same as last time ( part 1) but hey it was a good one so lets all watch it again
No, this video was also uploaded to the world of tanks north america youtube channel. All the video's he does for wargaming get uploaded to the world of tanks channel and a little later to his own channel. He does the same thing with the inside the chieftain's hatch video's.
This curator has a very relatable sense of humour. Unusual for a German I find!
How many Germans do you know?
I'm an Archivist, so... ;)
P O N Y T A I L !
How far is this place from where the German surrender to Montgomery was?
From Munster to Wendisch Evern it's about 50 km on the road.
Just get a Keiler and flail that old hall to pieces.
and one for security...wait, take a tank and use it for defense
Whirbelwind would be very effective!
did he happen to know what happened to the Heikendorf Panther?
That aged like Milk. Sadly the Modification hasn't started yet :-(
I'm view 7777.
He talked to fast, needed to slow down. It was very interesting anyway.
Manlets, not even once.
Hold a lottery. The winner gets to drive/ride in a tank and destroy a building. Lesser prizes: drive/ride in a tank, shoot a target, you get the idea.
Most of these vehicles can't shoot anymore...
one for display, one of spare parts, one for fund raising, one of security. security from what? why do you need a soviet/east German tank for security.
As an back up.
So NOBODY ever messes with your museum.
Security from people who don't get a joke.
It's just to protect the colonial exhibits in DHM. On the other hand, we do not desire a good understanding with Bovington, at the expense of the completion of the Panzermuseum Security Collection.
So you can replace one of the other three in case they are lost or broken somehow.
Another overclocked German. I'm not sure if I got even half of the jokes he threw in.
Ralf is the ultimate Wehraboo haha
German sources on WW2 are sketchy at best - a lot of archieves were destroyed - after the war.
The war itself was not conductive to preservation of memorabilia.
After the cold war much the same happened.
The director is typical: He has the mercy of late birth. "Gnade der späten geburt".
One thing that allways confuses english speakers is the difference between the german u and ü. Very annoying, as americans cannot pronounce their names correctly.
There is a Münster in Nord Rhein- Westphalen (which is also historically interesting for the treaty of Westphalen in 1648) it is not IT. This Munster lies in Niedersachsen.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munster,_Lower_Saxony
Actually the archives are pretty exhaustive, but badly categorized and catalogued. I was there with Military History Visualized only two days ago and he talked with Ralf about the archives situation. He said they just found a load of very interesting WW2 tank documents in an old cellar of Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann which inherited the stuff from one of its predecessor companies...and never looked into it.
@@HistoryGameV Ah, that is the reason for the museum.
It is MÜnster, not Munster, that is a province of Ireland :)
Actually... it's really Munster. Without Umlaut. Münster exists, but it is another city, quite a bit away from the town of Munster.
Where is part 2 of the panzer III
