For the end caps, instead of taking measurements and rounding/chafering the corners by eyeballing, it would have been quicker and easier to use the "sheet of paper and dirty finger" technique. Less gap to weld later on. Anyway nice channel. keep the vids coming.

+Xavier Thomas A lot of video clips ended up being corrupted when shooting this chapter, but two important parts left out were use of templates (instead of measuring) and controlling the gaps. The sheet metal was actually reformed to the shape of the plate since the sheet metal saw a bit of abuse and needed better form to it. Unfortunately those scenes didn't make it and couldn't be re-shot after the plate was installed.
But to better answer - Yes. Creating templates from paper, cardboard, layers of masking tape, etc. can all be used to get the correct shape if you need to match it exactly.

+Ben Thompson If I could have a "mulligan" on a video, this would be it. There were half a dozen clips from this chapter that were corrupt and I could not re-shoot it. All the info about measuring, shaping, and forming was missing. Had to make the best with what I had to work with on this one haha. There were discussions of completely omitting this chapter, but some info is better than none.

+phil par There were issues with the original video clips. This is all I could make out of them which is also why I posted it between the weekly uploads.
