The strongest, a magnitude 6.3 quake, caused shaking and building damage in cities like Taipei. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. Taiwan's susceptibility to earthquakes, due to its location on tectonic plates, has resulted in past tragedies, including a magnitude 7.2 quake in April 3, which claimed 14 lives.
