You are my new favourite online mechanic. Thank you for saving me making all these mistakes myself. I'm only attempting to remove the cats tomorrow but seeing the whole assembly and where it's held makes the job a lot less blind (especially as its -3°C here so the less time I spend doing it wrong and swearing, the better!)
You truly deserve your 996 turbo :) Enjoy.
How refreshing to have someone demystify and explain what's what. Great presentation! Thank you so much.
Blooper muffler hanging was also useful. I won't be lifting the muffler from the center. Thx Clint!
Great video series, answered most of my questions. The only frustrating parts are the ones that edited or deleted. Like the 4 bolts, spent a lot of time on the mistake the 5 seconds on the real removal... it seemed like poof and it was off. The same thing happened with the thermostat on the other video, poof it was off and you were rubbing cream on it. Everything else was spot on and a big help thank you.
Hi.
You do not need to remove the entire exhaust bracket (4 bolts). Just loosen the two clamps (as you did) and slide the strap on the left side to the left and on the right to the right (and vice versa when reinstalling) - then the exhaust is free. It’s very simple.

yes i learned after the fact smh lol but i wanted to do a video of how to do it also just should have refined my knowledge more first ... you are right. thanks
I was CONVINCED I already follow you, but it was my other account lol I have new engine mounts and my tips are way too low, so I'm trying to figure out how to adjust them. liked and subbed, of course ;)
I think the only adjustment is to make sure the mounts are in good condition and the screws are well adjusted on the mount studs.
@@Engineerboy100 so, the mounts are new. I guess it must be the screws you're talking about.
@@996Revival Yeah, make sure they are fully tightened.
@@Engineerboy100 I’ll take a look. Hoping to get the car back in a week or so
Make sure you take the weight off the mount nuts by raising the engine up into position with a jack before tightening them. Protect the engine from the jack with a piece of wood or something too.
Hi Clint, what are the torque settings on those 4 muffler bracket mount bolts? Thanks
How did you get the top two nuts off on the turbo? I get the wrench on them but there is no room to get the hammer to work on the wrench.
Clint, i never drop the motor, :) or the airbox, remove the bumper and pb blaster. with aftermarket exhaust theres a lot more room stock exhaust was less room but still easy to take the nuts off - stock exhaust is heavy as hell. :)
This was partly just so I could show the parts on the video ... a lot less will come off next time lol
Hi, Are you saying you don't need to remove exhaust to replace water pump?
Yeah, it is tight but you do not have to remove the exhaust, just the pumper cover.
Hermoso auto nueveonce, mientras no lo transformen, todo está bien.
at 20:30 - there is absolutely no need to remove those bolts. The bands holding on the exhaust slide out on each side - that's why there are cut outs. The other thing that got me where the heat shields - make sure the side nuts holding the shields down are off. Once I did this the exhaust pulled off very easily. The good things is the after market exhaust was way easier to mess with. I see the comment below but I think it's worth mentioning again to anyone doing this. Might be a good idea to re-edit the video with a slide saying such.
I'm gonna try to do that edit when I get a minute, thanks for the correction, not the first person that mentioned it … but still needs to be done.
Tried to edit in CZcams, very cumbersome, gonna try something in the title but can't seem to edit in here smh
@@Engineerboy100 no worries - it was helpful overall and enjoy all of your videos! It also went fine without messing with lowering the engine.
Thanks for your comments. This is helping me in advance, although I'm doing those mounts sooner or later anyway. Upgraded mounts make such a difference on these cars!
La próxima vez que quieras enseñar a hacer algo primero aprenderlo tu mismo..

Mate this is complete wrong way to remove that exhaust.....
Yep, figured that out later, I plan to remake this video when I get the time.
Then explain to him how to remove the thing!!!! He got
It off without breaking anything and that’s what’s matter
