I swear by Strathmore Marker paper. It has the qualities you described, but its base price is cheaper and Michael's seems to have Strathmore paper on sale every other week so I never EVER pay full price for it.

I like mixing my alcohol marker with colored pencil too often oof. Never realized that I need to make sure any marker paper I work with will be compatible with other mediums I may use with.. Gonna stick to my canson mixed media for now.

As far as the speckling goes, I think it has more to do with the marker brand than the paper. I’ve noticed that some brands of alcohol markers will speckle while others don’t. Out of the markers I’ve used, Copics, Ohuhus, Art n Fly, Spectra AD, and Spectrum Noir while speckle. Prismacolor and Winsor and Newton don’t.

One con of this paper is that it only comes in one size too ...
I live in Europe and it's always super expensive, hard to find and not a standard European size (A4/ A5 etc).
I like using the perfect colouring paper by Holtz (come in A4 and A3 size ), the manga paper by Sakura (A5 and A4 I think ?) And some copic paper selections. But generally a good quality Bristol is good with alcohol markers I find. ( The least speckling I found was on the perfect colouring paper ).
I like the Deleter paper (BK ) too

Hi Halalela! I’ve been watching a lot of videos on your @How to draw with lela”

Ive only used Bristol board, as I am still getting used to the marker and techniques. This is a great option for more 'finished' official art pieces that I actually want to display or gift. Thanks for sharing!

I love your coloring. When I started my Marker art journey I was told catdstock paper was best so I got a pack from Michael’s I think. I loved it but a lot of times I do art in my sketchbook. I barely do art on my card stock unless I’m doing gift art or art trades

Love using this paper for alcohol markers! I also use HP Premium 32 printer paper which also works ok with alcohol markers, but does have bleed when blending too much. Also, I use smooth bristol or mixed media bristol as well when I know I'll using a mix of alcohol markers, fineliners (most are water), and coloured pencils (need some tooth). The only thing about bristol is it really sucks up your alcohol markers faster. Great vid. Thanks!

  • @Oozaru85

The X-Press It Blending Card paper sounds like it's very similar to the Deleter Comic Book Paper, which I am using most of the time. Also, it's not really that much cheaper in the EU. And it's hard to get here, even tho it's being produced here. At least on Amazon shipping times are unusally long for a product that's being produced here. And, as I said, it's quite expensive as well. That's why I haven't bought it yet and use the Deleter paper instead.
I also use the Ohuhu marker paper, which seems like it's just regular cardstock paper to me (but sold for a higher price, dunno). On the Ohuhu blending doesn't work very well and colors are very splotchy and patchy. I only use it for the first one or two layers being alcohol markers, then shadowing and detailing with colored pencils.
Btw, love that picture with the space girl wearing a glass bowl on her head. It reminds me of 50's/60's sci-fi, which is one of my favorite sci-fi sub-genres (it's called Atompunk today).

I’m obsessed with ohuhu markers , both fine in and brush in versions 😍 I really want to print out my digital drawings , so I can colour in straight on paper, like the xpress it paper , but before I fully invest buying it , I’m going to try and print with my cannon Bristol paper 250 gsm (blue cover) as that’s what I use with my ohuhu markers , which I love ❤️ if my printer don’t work , then I’ll give this xpress it a try

Your art was so beautiful, but I had to stop watching because of the editing. The camera angle seemed to change with every punctuation as you were talking, and I couldn't observe your expert coloring technique and how the paper was reacting handling the ink.
